Welcome

Malaiya ji, on page Samrat Hem Chander Vikramaditya, you edited and mentioned Hemuji,s sub caste as a Dhusar Brahmin, which is absolutely correct. But why should one mention sub caste he belonged to.He was a Hindu, and that should be sufficient. We already mentioned that his father was involved in Purohiti. There is lot of material yet to be added on this site. However,I appreciate your effort to improve the site. sudhirkbhargava —Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.198.128.100 (talk) 12:53, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

Hello, Malaiya/Archive 1, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you very much for your contributions so far. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

You might also want to consider changing your username before you get too invested in your current one. Although you are allowed to use just about any name, many Wikipedians encourage others to use real names. I would suggest that you do this. I can certainly understand that you might be uncomfortable using your real name online, but, in this case, I recommend that you choose an alias that resembles a real name. For instance, my name is Nat Krause, but I could just as well have a username such as "Eli Miller" or "Abe Sokolov".

If you are choosing a pseudonym, please do not use the names of famous people or fictional characters. An obscure literary reference is probably all right. As always, please avoid anything that could be considered offensive or inappropriate.

Note that, on Wikipedia, you can use spaces and capital letters; for instance, "T. K. Truong" is possible, rather than simply "tktruong".

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using three tildes, like this: ~~~. Four tildes (~~~~) produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! - Nat Krause 11:31, 6 October 2005 (UTC), (Talk!)

I have removed the tag from the article and the reasoning behind submission of the article for deletion is completely baseless. So I think, other users wouldnt mind me removing the tag before the AfD process was over. If the user still continues to vandalise the page, I will ask for an adminstrator's help over the issue. Also pl sign yr comments by typing ~~~~ . Thanks for yr contributions to Wikipedia. Cheers --Deepak|वार्ता 03:35, 25 October 2005 (UTC)

stub related to jainism

Malaiyaji,

I have requested to create a stub related to Jainism. and probably use http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6/60/Jainism_logo.png as its logo. If you have access to any copyright free, smaller and cleaner logo, it can be used. as we expand it to more articles, is required to take an invetory of existing articles and tag them with {stub} if they need to be expanded. Chirags 18:05, 12 December 2005 (UTC)

Thanks. I was thinking about getting a stub creating, but did not know the procedure.

Yes, we need a nice image. I had created the one you mention a few years ago by editing at the pixel level, thus it has somewhat jagged edges. Let us see if we can get a new one. --Malaiya 00:47, 13 December 2005 (UTC)

Unexplained edits to Maratha articles

Dude please discuss the article before editing it in a drastic manner. What do you mean by that "they are currently devout Hindus?" Aslo Quote: just like the 96 clans of Marathas, there are 36 clans of the Rajputs, who mainly live in Rajasthan, Gujarat and nearby regions. There are some connections between the two groups. Among the Rajputs, the Rathores and the Solankis originated from the Rashtrakutas and Chalukyas from Latur

Well i'm a Maratha myself. And it has been established that Rathores and Rashtrakuts and Solankis and Chalukyas are entirely different. Yes all of them have contributed to Maratha gene pool but you've changed the article to your Kannada POV. Please refrain from POV edits in future and discuss them beforehand. अमेय आरयन AMbroodEY 15:58, 14 December 2005 (UTC)

If you want to edit a portal subpage you have to refresh a portal page as well (do a small edition on a portal page, after your edition on a subpage). I reverted your change because we should use only existing categories (Like Category:Jains). CU! V1t 02:40, 16 December 2005 (UTC)

Jodhabai

Hi, just noticed that you have put some of the text in the above article in the invisible mode. That can be perceived as vandalism and could get you blocked from editing Wikipedia. If you question the factual content in an article, please edit the article providing appropriate references or discuss the controversies on the article's talkpage. Please make the text visible if you have made it invisible in any other article. TIA, --Gurubrahma 06:54, 22 January 2006 (UTC)

If you search for Jodhabai on google, you will get more number of hits. You may have checked the genealogy, but, ther could be another Jodhabai? Given that Jodhabai is considered by many as Akbar's wife, you may mention a rider in the article that it could be factually inaccurate and mention your sources. You can also discuss this at length in the article's talkpage. Else, people will keep reverting your changes as Jodhabai, in popular portrayal, remains Akbar's wife. --Gurubrahma 07:26, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

Diwali in Jainism

Hi Malaiya, Diwali is the current WP:INCOTW and the Jainism section of the article needs improving. Knowing that it is a very significant day in Jainism, perhaps you would want to expand and write the section better because I am hoping to FA this soon. Request for edit summary

Hi. I am a bot, and I am writing to you with a request. I would like to ask you, if possible, to use edit summaries a bit more often when you contribute. The reason an edit summary is important is because it allows your fellow contributors to understand what you changed; you can think of it as the "Subject:" line in an email. For your information, your current edit summary usage is 1% for major edits and 100% for minor edits. (Based on the last 150 major and 1 minor edits in the article namespace.)

This is just a suggestion, and I hope that I did not appear impolite. You do not need to reply to this message, but if you would like to give me feedback, you can do so at the feedback page. Thank you, and happy edits, Mathbot 00:20, 26 February 2006 (UTC)

This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Ghantaghareasts.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. Please provide your source for this information. I like the content, I just dont see the reference information. Also if possible, please provide full dates for kings not bits and pieces. Rashtrakuta branchesDineshkannambadi 00:10, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

Hi. Thanks for your response and the links you provided. I went thru the matter and got the feeling that apart from "Lata" who are a known branch (later merged into Mayakheta by Amoghavarsha I) these other branches may actually be their descendents. The fact that the Paramaras were of the same Kula as the Rashtrakuta or considered themselves the same Kula does not make them a branch. The Chalukyas of Badami were of same Kula and Gotra as the Kadambas, and hence their descendents, not their branch. Perhaps we should create a seperate main page {{main page:Descendents of Rashtrakutas}} and put all this info there and make a reference to this in one of the sections, the way I have made a main page for "Origin of Rashtrakuta empire" and referenced it in Origin section. You could also try to fill in the dates and make it complete rather than give half sure dates with question marks.

Rashtrakuta pageDineshkannambadi 13:35, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

Hi. Sorry for being so picky about this page. The page has been thru a lot of conflict lately and I am trying to make sure no one can find a reason to tag it. I just wanted you to know that this is the info given by a wiki administrator when discussing a different issue. "Using a Wikipedia article as a reference is circular reasoning and is considered invalid - you cannot cite yourself! " The references you have quoted for Rashtrakuta familes/branches/descendents, are these books you have personaly referenced to or do you have a reference source that refers to these authors and claims? It may not appropriate to use reference info from one page and stick it into another. All the info I have entered are present in the 3 books I own and have referenced. The 3 books are listed in the ref. section. I just want you to re-verify this section on Rashtrakuta descendents/families so as to avoid an edit war at some time in the future when I may not be able to explain the situation well. The Rashtrakuta branch info is ok as it it in my reference book. Sorry for the inconvinience Dinesh Kannambadi

Thanks a lotDineshkannambadi 18:12, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your confirmation. Can you possibly find the dates associated with these "Rashtrakuta Families" and put them into the page for completeness. The names of many kings there have no dates associated and that makes it look incomplete and may rise unnecessary Questions. Thanks Dinesh Kannambadi

Reference booksDineshkannambadi 19:01, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

Rashtrakutas

Hi. Someone has started a section on Rashtrakuta descendends in the page "Rashtrakuta". While it makes no sense to discuss about descendents (considering that descendents of various kingdoms are today spread over the whole of India), Please see if you can add a paragraph citing sources like the Rajputs, Rathores etc. Thanks, Dineshkannambadi

I remember you were interested in developing this article in which I was deeply involved. The article is now under a revert war again with a user (who is now banned for sock puppetry) trying to make Anon edits. He wants to prove the Rashtrakutas were Marathis (speakers of Marathi language) while all the authors I have read from claim the Rashtrakuta Kings patronised Kannada and Sanskrit languages (all their inscriptions and literature are in these languages, per my sources). Please see if you have time to get involved and bring in any valuable information you can.Thanks.Dineshkannambadi 01:32, 25 December 2006 (UTC)

Origin of Rashtrakutas-->I have removed the section Rashtrakutas and Marathi which was put in by a banned user Vishu123 (banned for sock puppetry and distrubtive activities) who had been adviced by admins not to use Marathi sources.thanks.Dineshkannambadi 00:17, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

Rashtrakutas

Hi. I recently received a book on above topic written by Pandit Bishweshwar Ringu Reu which not only details the Rashtrakutas of Manyakheta but also discusses in fair detail the migration of the early Rashtrakutas from Northern India, their different descendents in Rajasthan, Madhyapradesh, Maharashtra and Karnataka. Also well described is their religion etc with plenty of inscriptions. I will be creating a comprahensive article on the Rashtrakutas of Manyakheta, while also creating subarticles for the various descendents described in the book. Each subarticle for descendents will have its own template with the list of kings, the years they ruled and other details. This is a well accepted wiki format which I will be following. The books I shall be referenceing are written by Pandit Bishweshwar, Romila Thapar, Suryanath Kamath, Nilakanata Sastri etc. I will be travelling to Kuknur in Central Karnataka (Koppal district) to photograph their Navalinga temples to add to the article. This will take a few months as I am also busy with other articles but I intend to develop this into a FA finally. Thanks.Dineshkannambadi 16:06, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

Hi, as you are aware, I have been making many inputs to the Rashtrakuta page with the intent of taking it to FA status. With this intent there are some issues I want to discuss with you.
  • At the bottom of the LEAD section, I have mentioned the names of many branches/ descendents of this empire and I can verify all of them with my books except the branch from Mayuragiri in Maharashrta (Rashtraudha dynasty). This info was brought in by a user who was later banned for sochpuppetry (I think). Can you please find some info for this kingdom, create a reasonable stub page for it. I will be creating stubs for all other branches/descendents per wiki FA format and will move in your "King lists" into these stubs along with some more info. It is not acceptable to wiki FA reviewers to have lists on the main page. I have learnt this from the 4 featured articles I have successfully authored. So please dont be annoyed when the lists are removed and moved into respective pages.
  • A few of the citations in the listed branches/descendents section dont seem to be from English language books and a few others may not have the page number, publisher info etc. None of these citations are from me (citation #77-83). Non-English books are not recommended when English books are plenty and available. Fortunately, I can provide full citations to replace most of the existing citations from my English language books, so this is no problem. In case I cant find a citation or two, I may ask for your assistance.

However, if I am wrong and all books are in English, please add the complete book info in the reference section the way I have done. If you are busy, I will take care of it anyway.

  • You mention in the "branch list" the Rashtrakutas of Kannauj. In the middle of this list you also mention,(Lost Shravasti to Gahadavalas in 1128). So are the Gahadavalas different from the rulers of Kannauj?. I have read entirely about the early history of Rashtrakutas (6-8th century) and imperial history from Manyakheta (8-10th century). I will start on the Gahadavala chapter soon and also on other descendents/branches. Just needed this clarification about the rulers of Kannauj.

Thanks.Dineshkannambadi 22:38, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

I have also temporarily removed the subarticle include for The great Karnataka Expansion which I shall reinsert after providng all the citations. It should be perhaps be renamed. The word great somehow seems extravagent.(I am from Karnataka)Dineshkannambadi 01:34, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
Ok. so we will maintain the same name.(The great Karnataka Expansion). I will be expanding on this, making it a DYK if possible and providing full citations. I have several books at home to source from.thanks.Dineshkannambadi 01:16, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

'Indian Bourbons'

I just did give something of an explanation on the Indian Bourbon talkpage. But I will give a succinct reason here. Which is, Henry IV of France had no nephews. His only (legitimate) sibling was his sister, Catherine of Navarre, Duchess of Lorraine, who produced no children. Meaning that the claim is, quite simply, wrong. Michael Sanders 00:31, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

Re the sources you placed on my talkpage (disregarding the untrustworthy nature of online sources):

1) says "The family descended from Jean Philippe Bourbon, a collateral of King Henry IV of France, and the son of the Constable of Bourbon who was supposedly killed at the siege of Rome in l527 by Benvenuto Cellini (amazing?)." - a 'collateral of King Henry IV of France'? More to the point, Charles III, Duke of Bourbon (Constable de Bourbon) had no legitimate children. That's why he launched his rebellion against Francis I - if he'd had legitimate offspring, they'd have inherited his wife's estates. 2) Offers no sort of proof. I could spin out the same sort of thing in half an hour to claim I was descended from a union between the Louis XVII and a grand piano. L'hypothèse la plus vraisemblable est la deuxième" - no evidence of any of these suggestions, makes it clear it is entirely unsure who the father might be (1 is an illegitimate Bourbon line, 2 is Constable de Bourbon again, 3) ... Constable de Bourbon. again. Involving various implausible tales involving kidnappings, pirates, and Mongolian Princesses, all of which is more appropriate to the Thousand and One Nights than sober history. It also seems to be claiming Charles of Montpensier didn't die in 1527, which is just plain wrong). 4) "But I did turn up a Jean Philippe de Bourbon, said to be a "naturalny" son, i.e., legitimate?, of Charles de Bourbon-Montpensier, later Charles III, duc de Bourbon (and of the mysterious Mongolian princess, Alaique, and this Jean Philippe evidently had a connection with Bophal and India" - 'natural son' means illegitimate. And how exactly would Charles of Montpensier ever have met a Mongolian Princess? And of course, the writer comments at the end - "I suppose he might, after all, have been a mere adventurer." - which is the general explanation when someone claims descent from a mythical union between a famous French troublemaker a Mongolian Princess. Michael Sanders 01:07, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

"The family was known before the book by Prince Michael of Greece" - presumably, anyone who claims descent from royalty is known, at least in some circles. Look at Pierre Plantard. Michael Sanders 01:09, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the info, would comment on it when I myself do some more research on the topic. STTW (talk) 20:05, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

Rashtrakuta

Malaiya, please dont add the Rashtrakuta branches to the main article "in a list". This will make the article FAIL featured article review. The main article is undergoing a FA review right now. The idea is to create seperate articles for each branch/descendents. Please dont add the list as this violates FA requirements. I have already mentioned each branch in the last para of the History section. I will create subarticles for each branch in the near future and will need some inputs from you also. Thank you very much for your cooperation.Dineshkannambadi 00:49, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

Dear Malaiya, I am not saying its not important. All I am saying is it does not meet FA requirement to have a long list. I am following the accepted FA format for India History related articles, thats all. Please see the last para of the History section. I have mentioned each and every one of the descendents there, both from your citations and mine. Nobody is disregarding your citations or the inputs. Each Rashtrakuta family will be redlinked and subartcles created. I will value your inputs then too. Right now, having a long link will cause it to fail FA review its undergoing. Please understand and cooperateDineshkannambadi 01:08, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

Let me do this. I will create a redlink for each descendent in the last para of the history section and cut and paste your list into each and every one of those. I will also devote the weekend to adding more info for each branch then just a list. Is that acceptable?Dineshkannambadi 01:14, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

I have created a seperate page called Branches of Rashtrakuta Dynasty and attached it as a subarticle to the main article (History section). I will clean it up after dinner. Hope this is ok with you. Now we can expand on this page in its own merit without effecting the main article in any way. In fact this subarticle deserves to be a seperate FA by itself if we can get hold of all the info needed.Dineshkannambadi 01:30, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

Malaiya, this is already mentioned in the last paragraph of the history section. But due to space limitation (the FA reviewers ar already complaining about the history section being too long) does not permit it. I have a full chapter on it, but cant expand. Trust me, There are lots of stuff I want to write, but space does not permit it. Can you now please remove the section you added to the main article?Dineshkannambadi 01:55, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

If you have any doubts about the History section being too long already, please discuss with .--Dwaipayan who happens to be one of the main FA reviewers and he will confirm that as it is the history section is too long and I am being asked to shrink it. This will be a challenge since there are so many exiting things about the Rashtrakutas, but I will handle it.thanksDineshkannambadi 01:59, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

You forgot to remove "Descendants Of Rashtrakuta" portion.ThanksDineshkannambadi 02:01, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

This is what I suggest. This page on Branches... should have a few paragraphs of pure text explaining the branches of the Rashtrakutas, how they came out generally in a few lines each, with redlinks to each branch. Each branch should then should expand into its own fully fledged article from the link.Does that sound good. plese reply on my talk page.Dineshkannambadi 02:11, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

Also, please add ISBN/OCLC numbers for your reference books.thanks.Dineshkannambadi 02:12, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

Now I think the main article on Rashtrakuta dynasty looks good. A subarticle for Origin of Rashtrakutas (please read this. I have taken lots of trouble here), the main article going into fair detail into the Manyakheta empire and now a subarticle on Branches....Dineshkannambadi 02:14, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

The Agrawal article should include only the information about the community; the information about the place should go to Agroha; information about Maharaja Agrasen should go to Agrasena. utcursch | talk 04:43, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

What's the use of including an unrelated map that belongs to another article? When a relevant map depicting migration comes up, it can be added to the article. utcursch | talk 05:04, 4 May 2007 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:Gingee.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Gingee.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 06:32, 4 May 2007 (UTC)

Please forward the letter of permission that you received from JAINA and/or contact information to "permissions-en AT wikimedia DOT org". Make sure to indicate clearly in your email what image you are talking about (a deleted image Image:Gingee.jpg on Wikipedia). They will review it and, assuming that the permission is sufficient, restore the image and tag it appropriately. Thanks. --BigDT 00:02, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

Notability of Sarva Dharma Sammelan

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Sarva Dharma Sammelan, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Sarva Dharma Sammelan seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Sarva Dharma Sammelan, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 20:18, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

Your changes to Agrawal

Yes there are Sikh Agrawals. It baffles me as to why you have undone our edits to the page which added more information to the topic. I have simply wrote the truth which reflects a large community of Agrawals I know. The other minor edits I made were also accurate but you seem intent on vandalising this topic by censoring the information so that it is only what you like to see. No wonder wikipedia is getting such a bad reputation as an unreliable encyclopedia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.213.184.133 (talk) 09:40, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

Indian religions page has been subjected to edit warring and disruptive behavior by one of the user who is attempting to rewrite history by disparaging Jainism (I guess that nothing new !!!) although being warned and banned many times. This guy, ignoring all the scholarly references, is hell bent on advocating misinformed and hackneyed half truths like – Mahavira is the founder of Jainism, Sramanas did not exist before Mahavira, Jainism borrowed heavily from Vedas; infact anything that is worthwhile in human civilization seems to have emanated from Vedas !!! I consider it my duty to stop this misinformation, but the same is eating away my lot of time. Since you are strong in Indian history, some support on the talk pages of IR would be appreciated. Please note that, to prevent edit wars, I have put up a consensus proposal also, on which you may comment. Thanks in advance. --Anish (talk) 09:42, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Merging the Two Articles

Dear Malaiya ji !

I thank you once again for your suggestions and valuable contributions to the Wikipedia articles.I fully agree with your suggestion to merge the two exsisting Wikipedia articles on the same subject. It would be most appropriate to merge the article Hatem at-Ta'i into Hatimtai. The former is a stub with only a few references, while the later one, thanks to you,is more elaborate and more informative. Moreover, you had made it much-improved,authentic and reliable by various citations. Hatimtai ia now a quality article of high significance on the concerned subject.

Sir, I appreciate the important edits that you have been doing. Please, continue it. Millions of readers around the world are getting the benefit of free and authentic information from Wikipedia.Outstanding contributions by logical persons and intellectuals, like you, make Wikipedia a reliable and important source of information ! Once again, thanks a lot !

Dear Malaiya ji !

Reconstruction of the Jain philosophy

This article is a total mess and looks like a taxonomical list of various concepts. I suggest a following reconstruction with following sections with necessary references :

  • Nature of Reality
  • Ontology and Metaphysics
  • Epistemology and Logic
  • Morality and Ethics
  • The nature of divinity and God
  • Karma: Law of Causation
  • Soteriology : The path to Liberation
  • Determinism and Free will
  • Faith and rationality
  • History of Jain Philosophy
  • Jain Philosophers

Your Comments are welcome. I think this list can come under a new article "Jain terms and concepts

Secondly I have overhauled the article Anekantavada. I request your additional inputs.--Anish (talk) 13:58, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

Help required on Anekantavada

The article Anekantavada has been promoted as GA and now I intend to nominate it for FA status. However the promoter of article Redtigerxyz (talk · contribs) was unable to check all the references and has put a checkcite tag on the top of the article. This is a stumbling block for FA status. He has suggested that some one with good knowledge of Jainism review the article as to – “whatever written in the article is a fair interpretation of the philosophy of Anekantavada”. You find any concerns this may be corrected. Then you can leave a note to this effect on the talk pages of the article and then this tag can be removed. As you have a fairly good amount of knowledge of Jain philosophy, I seek your assistance to review it for any inconsistencies as per your understanding and then leave your comments. Thanks--Anish (talk) 14:23, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

Thank you

Anekantavada is now a Featured Article, thanks to your contributions.--Anish (talk) 18:03, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

Hey there, have a look at Wikipedia:Permission which details the issues around asking for permission, where to send documentation about permission for images and the like. The tag you need to add to the image page is all dependent on what limitations or requirements are needed with the permission you received. I have not checked if you have commented on the nomination as of yet, but you should here. Just add a note stating what you are doing to substantiate the permission; ie sending a copy of the permission to the ORTS email addres, sending a request to the copywrite holder requesting written permission... whatever you are doing to address the issue. I hope the link to the permission page answers your questions, but if not, please feel free to drop me another note on my talk page. The image is great and if we can keep it, fantastic. Anything you can do to help move that proof of licensing along is a very good thing.--Jordan 1972 (talk) 20:45, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

Additionally, it appears as though these accounts are not being used in a manner in accordance with policy. As a result, I have blocked all of these accounts indefinitely. File permission problem with File:Mathura ayagapatta3.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Mathura ayagapatta3.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 05:51, 24 December 2010 (UTC)

Thirukkural and Jainism

Thirukkural's moral principles are very much aligned with Jain Dharma and starts with opening kural refering to "aadi bagavan", a clear reference to first Jain thirthankara. It is a great moral book, smartly written in a concise manner - and very pleasing to see that every religious community in Tamilnadu wants to adopt and align themselves to it. Any reference that it is Jain literature will create emotive debate which I thought I will steer clear of. I am pleased that every Tamil speaking person wants to align themselves with the moral codes outlined in that great book. It is a pity that we do not have much of recorded evidence about its author and a lot of myth and interpretations created about him.

A tag has been placed on Satyabhakta requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G6 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an orphaned disambiguation page which either

  • disambiguates two or fewer extant Wikipedia pages and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic); or

Coin of Mahmud of Ghazni

You may want to check your information concerning this edit[1], which you added, "Silver jitals of Mahmud of Ghazna with bilingual Arabic and Sanskrit minted in Lahore 1208". Mahmud of Ghazna died in 1030, and by 1186 the last Ghaznavid, Khusrau Malik, was imprisoned by the Ghurids and later executed. Is there a possibility that the Mahmud you are referencing is the Ghurid Sultan Ghiyath al-Din Mahmud? --Kansas Bear (talk) 16:22, 27 July 2014 (UTC)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Zakir Husain Delhi College requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwX06o8e2oM. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. — CutestPenguinHangout 16:09, 27 September 2014 (UTC)

Okay, my thanks may have been a little premature. I appreciate current information and reasons for it, but I don't know whether we should be including predictions. Some may support doing that, but in a lot of articles we don't. The policy/guideline is WP:CRYSTAL and maybe we can come up with a way to do predictions about oil prices.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 00:21, 15 January 2016 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Gahoi

The article Gahoi has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No evidence of WP:NOTABILITY I could find

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi, do these sources actually say that their "mainly concentration" is in those states, or do they just each name a state? Please note that user sandbox pages, such as User:Malaiya/sandbox2, are not allowed to be filed in article categories — your sandbox is not a completed article, and may not be categorized as one. I've had to remove article categories from your sandbox page three times in the space of just two weeks, so please note that you need to stop readding it to article categories — you can actually get temporarily or permanently editblocked for being disruptive if I keep having to do the same thing again too many more times. Please stop it. Bearcat (talk) 20:31, 3 July 2018 (UTC)
