How to mention COI issue or what is UPE mean? I don't have direct connection with the subject but as he is just like a pillar of the subject in India, I know him and admire as senior/superior. Biospeleologist (talk) 21:08, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright problems with Image:Cavefish.jpg[edit]

An image that you uploaded, Image:Cavefish.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Copyright problems because it is a suspected copyright violation. Please look there if you know that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), and then provide the necessary information there and on its page, if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Mattisse 15:47, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your images[edit]

Hi, Biospeleologist, could you have a look through your uploads and sort out the image tagging, please. I see that you're a very new editor, so you may not understand our copyright policy. You have tagged images with the {{PD-self}} template. That suggests that you took the photos, and are now releasing them into the public domain. Yet you give http://www.cave-biology.org/gall as the source. I've removed the images from the article, so please don't add them back until the copyright status has been clarified.

You might want to take a look at:

Regards. ElinorD (talk) 00:54, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Cave Research in India, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Neil916 (Talk) 07:30, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Biospeleologist, I am afraid that I must delete this article. However the speedy deletion of the article because of lack of content does not carry any prejudice against the recreation of the article with content. I do hope that you do recreate this article, as it would be a interesting expansion of Wikipedia's coverage of caves, and on a topic that I am personally interested in. Orphaned non-free image (Image:Borracaves.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Borracaves.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 00:51, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:Borracave.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Borracave.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

Your cave images[edit]

Hi, Biospeleologist. I answered the note you left at my page. It has now been archived here, just in case you missed it. (Since that page is an archive, you shouldn't post there, so if you have any questions, just use my talk page.) I'm afraid we can't accept images taken from some website where the uploader says he's the admin of that website and releases them into the public domain. We'd need verification of that, as it's easy for anyone to take copyrighted images from some website, upload them to Wikipedia under, put a public domain tag on them, and claim to be the webmaster from the website. If it turned out not to be true, it could land us in a nasty legal situation. Also, while you said you were an admin at the site, that doesn't mean, and you didn't clarify, that you took the photos yourself, or that the person who did had transferred the copyright to you.

If you took those photos yourself, and want to release them into the public domain, you should update your website to state that the images are public domain. Alternatively, upload them to Wikipedia, stating that although they come from a website, you took the photos and you are an admin from the website, and you are releasing them into the public domain (or under an appropriate free licence). At the same time, you will need to send an e-mail to permissions AT wikimedia DOT org, with verification that you are the copyright holder and that you release the images either into the public domain or under a free licence. Then, an administrator will tag the images to show that permission has been confirmed.

I hope this helps. Please understand that all this red tape this is for your protection as much as for ours, as it prevents people taking your copyrighted work and pretending that it's free for others to use, redistribute, modify, and sell. Best wishes, ElinorD (talk) 18:53, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Caves of India, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Caves of India is blatant advertising for a company, product, group, service or person that would require a substantial rewrite in order to become an encyclopedia article.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Caves of India, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Image without license[edit]

Unspecified source/license for Image:Kotum.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Kotum.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by MifterBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. --MifterBot (TalkContribsOwner) 20:00, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Borra cave.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Borra cave.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MBisanz talk 00:17, 15 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Jayant Biswas moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Jayant Biswas, is not suitable as written to remain published. It appears there is a WP:UPE or WP:COI conflict. Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, and have addressed the UPE/COI issue, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. As per WP policy, please do not move into mainspace yourself. Onel5969 TT me 10:07, 14 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Mandhip Khol moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Mandhip Khol, is not suitable as written to remain published. While it appears to be notable, it needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. There are large sections which are wholly uncited. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. I did this rather than removing the uncited material in the article, which I felt would be more disruptive. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask on my talk page. When you have the required sourcing (and every assertion needs a source), and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Shekhar Dutt, the governor of the Indian state of Chhattisgarh.jpg[edit]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Shekhar Dutt, the governor of the Indian state of Chhattisgarh.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.

If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.

Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next seven days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Salavat (talk) 07:23, 14 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
