Disambiguation link notification for September 16[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited A Little Man and a House and the Whole World Window, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page James Stevens. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

A tag has been placed on List of songs recorded by Cardiacs requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect from the article namespace to a different namespace except the Category, Template, Wikipedia, Help, or Portal namespaces.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Sockpuppet investigation[edit]

An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Calhounmuse, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.  NØ 16:18, 6 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Your cover uploads[edit]

Hi. From what I'm seeing, your cover uploads are not really improvements. Taking a look at your recent uploads, I really could not find any distinct visual difference nor improvement in your unnecessary replacement of my upload of the cover of Toy (David Bowie album)—your version actually slightly blurred the details further and you made the file size bigger (54 KB to close to 150 KB). Please avoid doing this—PNGs should be compressed because they can get quite large.

If anything, there's probably greater clarity in the prior versions of most of the images you've replaced. Quite a few of your replacements are slightly blurrier. That's not "greater clarity of detail" as you have claimed in a lot of them. I'd really advise you to stop merely finding images to replace, or reasons to replace existing ones—it appears this is your main contribution to Wikipedia, and there are a lot of editors who are going to advise you to find a better reason for being here. I'm certain there are more constructive uses of your time here than replacing things over what amount to very trivial visual details most people do not care about. You've also made a list of articles whose images you've replaced on your user page, including marking which ones are GAs and FAs. What does the article's status have to do with you replacing the images on them?

Also, for the images you have replaced, you have not changed the source= parameter of the original upload, and when you have, you've given the image URL instead of the URL of the website you found the image on. We prefer to not use the actual image URL, rather we prefer the website URL the image is located on per WP:IUP#RI.

A final note: per WP:PIFU (also covered at WP:UPI#Technical aspects and WP:IUP#FORMAT), JPGs are inferior to PNGs for anything besides purely photographic images. Cover artworks usually have text or other graphics on them, as in they are not purely photographs, which means they should be PNGs. Not that you really should be finding JPGs to replace with PNGs either.

If you still insist on making images your main reason for being here, maybe find articles that don't have covers on them instead of replacing ones that do? You could maybe help the users of Wikipedia:WikiProject Albums/Backlog elimination drive: Album covers out. Thanks. Ss112 20:32, 6 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again. A reminder of my message above—you're still finding reasons to replace what were already pretty okay images. I'm honestly confused as to why you wouldn't take the advice to check out the list of album articles still needing covers linked at Wikipedia:WikiProject Albums/Backlog elimination drive: Album covers and insist on replacing existing ones. Let me tell you that editors here really don't care about you uploading "bicubic quality" versions of the images they originally uploaded—"bicubic quality" means little, if anything, to most people. The replacement of the cover for Coldplay's Music of the Spheres you made the other day literally just looks slightly more blurred to the naked eye (and may therefore be construed as looking "smoother"). I do not see how this is an improvement, and I guarantee most other editors wouldn't either. Also you appear to be continuing on claiming some responsibility by devoting your time to this User:IAmAnIndividual/List of music cover art uploads endeavour. Replacing the images at those album articles is not a meaningful contribution to Wikipedia. It might mean something to you, but certainly not to anybody else, and I think you need to move beyond thinking it is. There really are more meaningful ways to contribute and spend your time here—you just have to find them. Ss112 06:45, 27 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Big thank you for putting the original image back. If you cannot find an official source for an image, don't upload it[edit]

Hi. It appears you've continued on replacing images that really didn't need to be replaced. Now you appear to be using unofficial sources as the sources for your uploads. Most recently you appear to have replaced Gorillaz' Song Machine cover with one from Fandom.com, which is a self-published source. The page you cited as the source for the image, https://gorillaz.fandom.com/wiki/File:Song_Machine,_Season_One_-_Strange_Timez.jpg, doesn't tell us where the uploading user got that version of the image from. They could have edited it themselves. This is why you should not take cover artworks from unofficial sources. If it does not come from either the musician's official/verified social media accounts, the record label's website or social media accounts, the musician's official Spotify or Apple Music profiles or a reliable news source, do not use it. More troubling is you using a last.fm upload by a user called "YeezusSuburbia" of the Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge cover without the Parental Advisory sticker. This user could have edited the sticker out themselves, which is not official (as it is an edit and not publicly available) and not allowed. If you can't find an official source that doesn't use, then quite simply, avoid uploading it. As I've said to you three times now, there are much better ways to spend your time than replacing covers that didn't need to be replaced. Ss112 06:43, 26 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Now for images like File:Some Rap Songs.jpg, you're just using a website and saying there's a Parental Advisory-less version of the cover available at them when there isn't. There is no cover without the sticker available at the SoundCloud link you provided. Do not edit out stickers yourself. Ss112 06:53, 26 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2022 Elections voter message[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2022 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 12 December 2022. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2022 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 01:35, 29 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
