Requested move 22 November 2015[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: Not moved. Consensus is against moving. Discussion of where Sample (song) should redirect to can be taken to WP:RFD, but I have pointed it to Sample (its last target) for now. (non-admin closure) Natg 19 (talk) 01:17, 30 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Sample (Sakanaction song)Sample (song) – Premature disambiguation; only song on Wikipedia with this title at the moment. – Prosperosity (talk) 03:58, 22 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This is a contested technical request (permalink). Anthony Appleyard (talk) 07:41, 22 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Prosperosity and 70.51.44.60: Object to RMTR speedy move I think this should have a discussion; topics that are samples concerning the subject area of songs are many, such as sampling songs, so a song sample could equally be a topic occupying such a title. So the requested title should instead redirect to Sampling (music) -- 70.51.44.60 (talk) 05:17, 22 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose I moved this per WP:MOVE and WP:CRITERIA in August, because Sampling (music) is exactly what is suggested by the title. Not sure even why a Japanese song which "did not receive noticeable national airplay" (article) even has an article, but the lyrics "Boku wa soretonaku iki wo shite waratta ao-murasaki no sora wa tsukareta hada wo.." are sort of catchy. However if we really want to piss off readers looking for Sampling (music) then redirecting them to a Japanese song would be kind of cool. Our job is to frustrate, misdirect and obstruct readers after all. In ictu oculi (talk) 08:04, 22 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. The proposed title is ambiguous with regard to sampling (music). There are, after all, songs that consist mostly or entirely of samples. 209.211.131.181 (talk) 18:29, 22 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose, same case as Debut (Björk album). Redirect it to Sample (disambiguation), not here. © Tbhotch (en-2.5). 05:43, 27 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
