Don't count on it. It's a borderline call with that storm and hurricane forecasters don't like adding storms right and left postseason, it's bad for their image. NHC already has to deal with an Atlantic storm in July that looks obviously tropical to me. At least until April, 2008 Jason, JTWC is notoriously slow. They didn't finish the 2004 report until like June of last year and haven't even started the 2005 reports. Strongest storm in infobox[edit]

This season is, as far as I can tell, the first to definitely have the strongest storm of the year in the central rather than east Pacific.

Previous seasons, which since 1979 have had at least one storm form or reach the central Pacific, have only one strongest storm in their infobox. That storm has always been in the eastern Pacific. For example, the 2004 season has Javier in the infobox. The strongest storm in the central Pacific, Estelle, has no mention in the infobox.

Because previous seasons have only one strongest storm in their infobox, and that the strongest storm is considered to encompass both the eastern Pacific part and the central Pacific part, I propose taking Daniel out of the infobox, leaving only Ioke. Other storms[edit]

Quick question to get people's opinions. Should the other storms section really be included? While there is some standard to include possible storms, this storm was never considered a tropical cyclone by any tropical cyclone agency (only NASA, which is in a separate league). Even the CHC (link) called it an extratropical cyclone; on the flip side, it was included in the hurricane season summary, which could imply that they thought it had tropical characteristics, but couldn't call it as such. I believe I was the one who added it, so I'm slightly inclined to keep it, but I'd like some feedback from the community (if anyone is even still here). I say definitely keep it; the US Navy works with the NHC/CPHC in matters of early detection, and if the Navy considered it such, I figure that's enough for me, even if the NHC/CPHC didn't; but since they didn't, it's not good enough to get a mention in the main list. --Golbez (talk) 22:46, 4 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Come to think of it, perhaps there could be an article on that thing, the "2006 central Pacific weather system" (to call it something neutral). It could include its storm history- Padgett offers a track[5]- and that could be included, as could the rain it caused in the PNW. I could also include which agencies thought it was this, and which agencies thought it was that, etc. I'm not sure what infobox to include, or perhaps no infobox at all. Merge with 2006 Pacific hurricane season?[edit]

Wasn't it an error that people began to use this different format after 2005 AHS used it due to the amount of storms? Though usually on average WPAC pages are probably the same length as the 2005 AHS... but I think maybe this could go back to the original format it was supposed to be in like the 2005 PHS is. atomic 77 32 05:21, 21 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
