Yankee subs in fiction[edit]

The first entry in this section read: 'In the Tom Clancy book "The Hunt for Red October", a Yankee-class submarine was said as "...surfaced and started heading north at flank speed...".' Aside from the strange grammar, I searched for this quote in the e-book and couldn't find it, or anything close (perhaps it's in a translated version of the book). I rewrote it to put the reference in context.

I also rewrote the entry referring to Red Storm Rising to correct grammar and spelling. Dziban303 02:40, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

What's in a name?[edit]

What are the Eng translation of Navaga & Grosha? Trekphiler 19:37, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • "Navaga" means small fish of the "cod" family and "Grusha" (not "Grosha") means "pear" the fruit.Федоров (talk) 01:41, 3 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

How did Soviet subs pick up the name "Yankee"? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.205.241.92 (talk) 23:46, 18 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

They didn't, it's a NATO reporting name. Acroterion (talk) 23:48, 18 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
