Untitled[edit]

I am consolidating several VALID pages into one page WCG-(firm). In the disambiguation of WCG I have listed WiessComm Partners and WeissComm Group as two possible uses of WCG. I am adding references tonight that will establish THIS page as the valid company info page. I will delete the contents of the other page and point it here. --jmacofearth | uber.la | wikisocial.org 02:18, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

Here is the page I am heading towards: http://wiki.alquds.edu/?query=Edelman_%28firm%29 Please let me know what you find incorrect in the Edelman page and I will be happy to comply. --jmacofearth | uber.la | wikisocial.org 02:28, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

COI disclaimer: I am employed by WCG as a digital producer. My interest in editing the WCG_(firm) page is to provide accurate information and valid reference links.--jmacofearth | uber.la | wikisocial.org 17:04, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

Requested move 14 March 2016[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: Moved to W2O Group. Reliable source references, such as PRWeek, do seem to include Group. (non-admin closure)  — Amakuru (talk) 09:38, 22 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

WCG (firm)W2O Group – The company was restructured under “W2O Group” in 2012[1][2], which is now its WP:COMMONNAME. For example, PRWeek (the leading trade magazine) calls it W2O Group in its annual “agency profile” as oppose to WCG. I’d also like to request replacing the contents of this WCG page, which is promotional and poorly-sourced, with a more neutral, sourced and better-quality page on W2Ohere. As I have a conflict of interest, I’d like to request a disinterested editor review and consider the content. David King, Ethical Wiki (CorporateM) (Talk) 18:13, 14 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Move to W2O. This appears to be the common name in reliable, non-promotional sources. I oppose the nominator's proposal to replace the content, however. While the current material has a number of issues, the nominator's proposed article remains extremely promotional and advert-y. Polishing style does not change that. --Regards, James(talk/contribs) 18:36, 14 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
Do you mind elaborating as to what is promotional about the proposed draft, so I can fix it? CorporateM (Talk) 20:17, 31 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

About the Merger[edit]

I've reviewed the draft old id of User:CorporateM/W2O Group for neutrality and believe it's much better compared to the earlier version of the current article (old id). Hence I've performed a full content merge in this diff. Regards—UY Scuti Talk 16:00, 7 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

GA Review[edit]

I'll give this a review shortly, ideally sometime this weekend. (it's a fairly short article so i don't have an excuse if it gets too delayed) Wizardman 01:03, 24 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Here's what I found:

  • Technically, if the image is fair use the file size should be a good deal smaller... but I'm actually quite positive it falls under public domain due to the Commons:Threshold of originality (though I imagine it's probably trademarked). Re-tag the image as such. (the other articles you have at GAN may fall under that as well, but it's a tougher call in those cases)
  • " Jim Weiss, as a " rm comma splice
  • "led to a series of layoffs.[4][4]" you cite the same ref twice; not sure if intentional or is there was a different ref you meant to cite.
  • While not an issue currently, the way this is written the article does have the potential to become dated relatively quickly. Granted as long as you keep an eye on it you should be fine.

I'll put the article on hold and pass when fixed. Wizardman 20:48, 24 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I see the issues are fixed now, so I'll pass the article. Wizardman 13:57, 2 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Updates[edit]

I am affiliated with W2O Group. I helped bring this page up to Good Article standards back in 2016. I would like to propose a couple additions that would keep the page up-to-date.

First, I would like to propose the following additions to the table of acquisitions in the Corporate history/Acquisitions section.

Date Company Description References
2016 Pure Communications Marketing consultancy [1][2]
2016 Marketeching Solutions Social listening [1][3]
2017 Sentient Interactive digital media and analytics [1]

Additionally, I would like to propose the following content for the end of the Corporate history section, just before the Acquisitions sub-section:

In May 2016, a private-equity firm called Mountaingate Capital made an investment in W2O Group, which funded a series of acquisitions.[1] Seven months after acquiring Fox Communications, W2O Group laid off founder Lynn Fox, who sued alleging gender discrimination.[4][5][6]

Finally, I want to draw special attention to the gender discrimination lawsuit in the paragraph above. It received a good amount of media attention, but was ultimately dismissed by the courts. No press covered the case's dismissal. Often lawsuits seem notable at their onset, when bold claims are made, but turn out to be less significant, when the courts do not vindicate those claims. I wanted to include it to avoid the appearance of hiding anything and to let an independent editor decide how to best handle the subject.

Pinging @Wizardman: who did the GA review and @UY Scuti: who reviewed my initial draft years ago. CorporateM (Talk) 22:33, 13 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

 Done--S Philbrick(Talk) 00:52, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

What is this?[edit]

Our article reads "W2O Group is a holding company that provides services like public relations ...". Well, which is it – a holding company (which by definition does nothing at all but hold other companies or investments in them), or a service company providing services? Proposed changes to W2O Wiki page[edit]

My name is Kelly and I am the Associate Marketing Director at W2O. I plan to contribute to W2O's Wiki page while following Wikipedia’s policies and being as neutral as possible. I understand that I am supposed to be especially cautious and transparent due to my conflict of interest. If there are ever any concerns about my contributions, please let me know.

I would like to share some proposed edits indicated in yellow highlights (for additions/changes) and strikeouts (for deleted content) here. This way independent, impartial editors have an opportunity to review the edits and provide any feedback.

The main changes are a shorter Lead, a few trims/copyedits, and many updates to now outdated information about our markets, subsidiaries, etc. as this information has changed since 3 years ago when the article was brought up to GA status.

Please let me know if anyone has an opinion or any feedback on the proposed changes. Kellyieno2 (talk) 19:21, 23 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Pinging @Wizardman: and @Sphilbrick:, who have each participated here on Talk in the past to see if anyone has an interest in taking a look at the proposed revisions/updates/corrections/etc. here. Kellyieno2 (talk) 16:43, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
