The drain lets the fluid that gets past the seals lubricate the motor internals and then exit the motor case at low pressure so it does not blow out the shaft seals. Motors working in only one direction usually hook the drain to the low pressure side of the motor internally and have no external drain. Many motors use a pair of built in check valves that allow the case to drain to whichever main port is at the lowest pressure. 63.124.6.56 (talk) 19:07, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

 Fixed The 2014 date should have been a 2004 date.
