1996 QB controversy[edit]

What about 1996, when Gannon took over for Bono (I think first starting in the Thanksgiving game that year) due to Bono's ineffectiveness until Gannon got injured late in the season? StaticElectric 07:22, 26 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've looked into that and tried to find some info online, but I can't prove it. I remember it, but I don't want to add it to the article if I can't find some references. Thanks though. I'll keep looking. conman33 (. . .talk) 17:57, 24 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

GA Review[edit]

Alright, I'm going to start reviewing this article. The first thing I noticed is that for the size of the article, the lead is very short. Lengthen it and try to de-ref it if you can (mos doesn't mind lead refs, I just don't care for them unless necessary). Wizardman 21:37, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I'm aware of the article's size. I was thinking maybe it can be split into something like History of San Diego Chargers head coaches and List of San Diego Chargers head coaches where the list of starting QB's by season can be a separate article along with the career statistics and records while the in-depth history can be separated as another article. I'll work on the lead a bit, but I just kept the references in the lead because I thought somebody would complain and say "why aren't there any references in the lead?" -- Just a precaution. Thanks. conman33 (. . .talk) 20:16, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Check these out to see what I was talking about with split articles: Lists of Kansas City Chiefs quarterbacks and History of Kansas City Chiefs quarterbacks. Please note they are sandbox articles. conman33 (. . .talk) 20:26, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

GA on Hold[edit]

Hi, nice to meet you

  • I'm putting the GA review on Hold for a period of up to one week, for further improvements to the article.
  • The WP:LEAD doesn't seem to serve as a stand-alone summary of the entire article.
  • List of starting quarterbacks by season is really too large a list to be incorporated into an article. Strongly suggest removing to a separate List.
  • Ditto for Complete statistics and Franchise records, but I might consider combining the two into a single list, perhaps List of statistics and franchise records for the Kansas City Chiefs or something along those lines. I'm not familiar with list layout etc., so you may need to ask someone who is. In any event, I'd consider rmving them from this article.
  • Using the team colors for the 'Complete statistics table is clever, but the black letters on dark red bkg are really hard to read. Suggest something much more neutral, like light blue or grey and white.
  • I will continue looking; there may be further issues.

Follow up[edit]

Anything else, I'll work on it! conman33 (. . .talk) 22:50, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

PASS GA (but too much overlinking)[edit]

  • there's too much overlinking in many places; three or four references is overkill for a single statement. please trim those down. other wise PASS. Congrats. Ling.Nut (talkWP:3IAR) 03:48, 18 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

GA Reassessment[edit]

This discussion is transcluded from Talk:History of Kansas City Chiefs quarterbacks/GA2. The edit link for this section can be used to add comments to the reassessment.

This article has major problems that doesn't meet our criteria anymore, including copyvios and so much needs to be done I quickly delist it.

  • The article is completely out of date, with the last update happening back in 2008.
  • I counted at least 10 dead links, citations 15, 17, 24, 46, 47, 51, 52, 54, 74, and 82 many of which is used multiple times.
  • Several other citations with site errors, 19, 37
  • Massive WP:UNDUE weight with about 90% of the article focusing between 2001 and 2008 or quarterback controversies which really isn't controversies. Only one paragraph on Len Dawson??
  • Massive Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing

One example "It was also a new direction for head coach Herman Edwards, who has long had a reputation for favoring more conservative, run-oriented offenses.[45] After it was implemented, Edwards began seeing his team gain confidence with every game it played in that wide-open system....[45]

"Edwards, who has long had a reputation for favoring more conservative, run-oriented offenses, has been seeing his team gain confidence with every game it plays in that wide-open system. "
