Some things are wrong or not helpful[edit]

1. Nuremberg and its surroundings belong to East Franconian area. Most common german linguistic sources agree so; see f.e. http://www.ostfraenkisches-woerterbuch.de/ which is from "Kommission für Mundartforschung der Bayerischen Akademie der Wissenschaften". And of course everyone who travels to Nuremberg and understands German will find out.

2. Therefore the map is also wrong, there are better ones f.e. in german wikipedia "ostfränkisch" and "Oberdeutsche Dialekte"

3. Surnames like Bauer, Merkel, Schmidt, Schneider, Hofmann are common all over Germany and not specific High Franconian German, so it's not very helpful to mention them.

My English is not good enough to improve this article to a high qualitiy, can some do it? ManfredV (talk) 15:07, 1 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest that you try your best yourself and have others clean it up. --JorisvS (talk) 21:55, 1 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
