Correct name[edit]

As far as I know, there is no source that indicates that the dog's name is Conan the Barbarian, but all agree that it is simply Conan, including Milei himself. It is true that Milei was inspired by the 1982 film, but this does not imply that the name of the dog is the same.

According to Wikipedia:Article titles, we should use his commonly recognizable name, and I have not seen any Argentinian media calling the dog "Conan the Barbarian". I propose to use the name Conan for the subject throughout the article and move it. Conan (dog) is taken, so maybe Conan (Javier Milei's dog)? The title of the aforementioned article could also be changed to Conan (military dog).

Yes, I think you are right. Perhaps the one who created the article got confused by the fact that the dog is named after the title character in Conan the Barbarian. But I have seen the dog mostly referred to just as "Conan". "Conan (Javier Milei's dog)" seems to be a good choice for the article's name. Davide King (talk) 14:50, 11 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Lede image[edit]

Not really important, but we should be able to include an image of the original Conan in the infobox; as per our image policy, because Conan has passed away, we can include a fair-use image of him. I think this would be much better than an image of a generic mastiff, at least (personally I would not have added that). ~Maplestrip/Mable (chat) 10:44, 12 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Do you know where one can be sourced? From a cursory search, it seems that photos of Milei with his dogs are of the cloned ones rather than the original Conan. Maswimelleu (talk) 10:54, 12 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
