"docile"?[edit]

(Plot description):

"Lao Jin, emasculated and docile, can only watch in sadness as Xiu Xiu loses hope in the system and in herself."

Is "docile" really a/ the right word to use here, for a (free?) human being? To me (I am no native speaker of English so cannot be completely sure if my feeling is right or wrong) it seems this word is used to describe kept animals and speaking of enslaved people or of people whom the (racist) speaker regards as unequal, animal-like etc. - does this fit here?? or am I just wrong? 2A02:3030:80D:B019:1:0:F032:BCAB (talk) 15:17, 31 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
