First Meeting with Poirot[edit]

In The Mysterious Affair at Styles chapter 2, it is written that "The 16th of July fell on a Monday". The only year during WW I when this happened is 1917 thus it is more likely that Hastings and Poirot met in England in 1917 (and Hastings could have been confused about the year by the time of Curtain because of advancing age). Nonetheless, in Curtain it is stated that the year was 1916. And everywhere else in Wikipedia (e.g., Poirot's article, or the Mysterious Affair at Styles article) the date 1916 is used. Albertod4 (talk) 12:58, 29 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

TV picture[edit]

Is the screencap really necessary to the article? I'd be bold and remove it, except that as a non-free image it might then be deleted before anyone could object. But it's not as if Hastings's physical appearance is particularly notable, and I greatly doubt that the TV show in better known than the books. (I can sort of see it for Poirot on account of the baldness and mustache, though I still don't like it—I'd rather a drawing from one of the books if such existed—but Hastings?) —Quintucket (talk) 22:22, 30 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Literary function[edit]

Most of the content in the literary function section is uncited original research and has nothing to do with the biography of a fictional character. At least 1/3rd of it should be removed. ---The Old Jacobite_{The '45} 03:06, 27 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
