Roberto Zaldívar

Roberto Zaldivar is an Argentinian doctor of ophthalmology and a refractive surgeon. He is credited with several breakthroughs in the use of lasers to correct visual impairments. Zaldivar is credited for a technique called bioptics, a term he introduced.

Zaldivar practices medicine at the Instituto Zaldivar, located in the Argentine city of Mendoza.

• The Steinert Refractive Lecture Award, awarded by the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery for his valuable contributions to refractive surgery during his career and became the first non-American physician to receive the distinction. 2022
