In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.
For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Translation Tiers[edit]

The BSB is part of a larger Berean Bible project of four translation tiers:[6]

  1. An interlinear Bible to directly follow the Greek and Hebrew texts. (Berean Interlinear Bible)
  2. A literal translation to take the reader to the core of the Greek and Hebrew meanings. (Berean Literal Bible)
  3. A modern English translation, effective for public reading, memorization, and evangelism. (Berean Standard Bible)
  4. An emphasized translation to bring out the full meaning and intensity of the original texts. (Berean Annotated Bible)

Majority Standard Bible[edit]

Part of the same project, The Majority Standard Bible (MSB) is a version of the BSB whose New Testament is conformed to the Robinson-Pierpont majority text.[7] It was dedicated to the public domain with the BSB in April, 2023.[7]

Editions[edit]

The project and first print edition used the title Berean Study Bible,[8] in spite of the absence of study aids typical of other products marketed as "study bibles". By the second edition, the project was renamed Berean Standard Bible.
