Unable to access Wikipedia Library[edit]

I am unable to access Wikipedia library, although I am eligible. Kindly help. My userpage is - Thanks! I have tried the link [1] given above to another user for the same question. Even that link is inaccessible to me.

Issues with[edit]

Hello, I applied for access on 17 February 2023 but I haven't received any confirmation email from or TWL (already searched my email and the only emails from TWL are for JSTOR access back in 2019). Later, I checked My Applications page and as of today, there is nothing there (I can't view any historic applications) and according to My Collections page, I'm eligible for access with TWL proxy (I can view newspaper pages with it, as guest) but unable to login there due to "suspicious activity". What should I do next? Thanks. Vulcan❯❯❯Sphere! 00:32, 1 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@VulcanSphere We're in the process of moving over to the automated method of access. Unfortunately we're hitting a couple of technical issues, which can be tracked in T322916. Could you share further information there about the "suspicious activity" error you're seeing? Samwalton9 (WMF) (talk) 11:40, 1 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Samwalton9 (WMF) Ah, I see (I just subscribed to that Phab tracker, thank you) After I entered my login information on, there is a message "Your sign in was blocked because of suspicious activity.".Vulcan❯❯❯Sphere! 13:24, 1 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@VulcanSphere & @Samwalton9 (WMF): I've been having the same issue here. I applied for access sometime around early 2022, and now I can't access it due to it being "blocked because of suspicious activity." As a person who works heavily works with older topics, not being able to have access to clippings can be a bit of a problem. Clippings, at least for the area I work in, are extremely helpful and sometimes vital to a certain article. Hope it can be fixed soon! Nascar9919 (talk) 05:00, 3 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Nascar9919 & @Samwalton9 (WMF) After clearing caches related to, now I can login into TWL proxy of and search function working properly.--Vulcan❯❯❯Sphere! 14:36, 3 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Samwalton9 (WMF) & @VulcanSphere: Works for me now. Any update on clippings? Nascar9919 (talk) 03:17, 7 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Nascar9919 We were able to get reCaptcha to start displaying when 'suspicious activity' is detected, but I'm not sure if it's working yet. I'm checking and will get back to you. Samwalton9 (WMF) (talk) 10:59, 7 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Nascar9919 Clippings working properly.--Vulcan❯❯❯Sphere! 15:25, 7 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Come to that, I applied a few months ago, and haven't had any confirmation myself, either on email or as a talk page message. Ravenswing 15:27, 1 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Ravenswing Your last renewal was in January - it looks like you should have received confirmation of that on 20th January but for some reason I don't see a logged email, so maybe something went wrong and we never sent you confirmation. Regardless, if you log in to with your email address do you have access? Samwalton9 (WMF) (talk) 15:50, 1 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
It's working now, Sam; thank you for your help! Ravenswing 04:16, 2 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Access issues[edit]

Thanks for the wonderful resource access! Recently (over the last fortnight let's say) I have been hitting some access issues, with for example, JSTOR and springer: I can login into JSTOR then it says "Request Header Or Cookie Too Large" when I do a search; I can't access Springer, it immediately says "reason: Request Header Fields Too Large"; as I said at I'm getting "Oops, we are having trouble loading results" on any request. Any advice on this? I do notice I'm getting a message from Zotero which says "Zotero detected that you are accessing through a proxy. Would you like to automatically redirect future requests to through" which I have been dismissing, otherwise I don't think much has changed at my end. Other things eg Hein, Oxford and Taylor and Francis are still working fine. Thanks. Mujinga (talk) 12:32, 1 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Mujinga For the 'request header too large' style errors, the fix is to clear cookies related to has separate ongoing issues being tracked in T322916. Please post your error message(s) there to help us out. Samwalton9 (WMF) (talk) 12:42, 1 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Samwalton9 (WMF) the suggestion to cleasr cookies has resolved the issues! also now works for me, possibly because of that action or perhaps because of something else. Happy to be able to use the resources again. Cheers! Mujinga (talk) 16:12, 1 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

workaround for clippings with proxy-based URLs[edit]

For anyone who has found it cumbersome to create useful clippings on and NewspaperArchive since those sites shifted to the bundle model, I've posted one workaround to Wikipedia converting clipping to citation. Nick Number (talk) 18:20, 7 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Help with account renewal[edit]

It appears my account (BeanieFan100) has expired. I forget how to request an extension. Could someone help me out? Thanks. BeanieFan11 (talk) 14:37, 18 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi @BeanieFan11 - is now accessed directly via proxy, rather than via individual accounts. Simply navigate to the library and click Access Collection to start using it. You can log in to your old account there to store/access clippings. Samwalton9 (WMF) (talk) 13:30, 22 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Login/OAuth failures (T332650)[edit]

Do I need to do anything about this login issue? I've tried a few times now and can't log in for my Wikipedia Library admin work. Not a big deal, not mission-critical but if it's helpful if I gave someone my specific details so they could work on the bug I'd be happy to. Thanks. Jessamyn (my talk page) 00:23, 31 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I had the issue before as well, and I accessed the library after I saw your comment here to see if it is a new bug. I guess it is a different one than I had. Paradise Chronicle (talk) 11:10, 31 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
