Important Notice[edit]

This page is currently a rough draft. It is intended to be an guideline essay on when/how to create notability sub-pages, and what they should and shouldn't contain. The authors believe that this isn't an example of WP:CREEP, as discussions have shown a need for better control over the creation of notability sub-pages (in order to prevent instruction creep). Note that the concepts in this guideline have already been recently implemented in notability sub-pages such as WP:BIO.

Contributions to this page are welcome, but please read the following discussions first:

  • Please read this and this before making sweeping statements like that. This is not instruction creep because there is a very real need for a guideline like this. This guideline will actually assist in preventing instruction creep. —gorgan_almighty 16:20, 26 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
    • I don't want to make such a sweeping statement, but a guideline for creating guidelines ...? Can't we just handle individual notability sub-guidelines as they crop up? Black Falcon (Talk) 20:26, 1 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
      • It's an invalid proposal anyway; it wasn't created according to the guideline on creating guidelines about guidelines.--Father Goose 20:48, 1 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Have you actually read it? I know that most editors will agree with the actual content of the proposal, but if enough people think it still constitutes instruction creep, then I'll change it to an essay. That way it can still be referenced, but it isn't subject to WP:CREEP. I trust you don't have an objection to that? —gorgan_almighty 07:51, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Essay fits it well. "Rules to create rules" is a bit much, but "advice on creating rules" works.--Father Goose 16:43, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
