Requests from other members[edit]
The following pages require attention from a project member:
- Old Latium needs significant help with MOS (language) and secondary sourcing. Informata ob Iniquitatum (talk) 07:43, 15 December 2016 (UTC)
- Anthology of Planudes needs expansion
- Oikos needs references: my work on this has stalled somewhat. Could still do with more referencing on the subsections on women and children. Caeciliusinhorto (talk) 10:58, 4 April 2016 (UTC)
- Classical Philology needs expansion
- Plutarch needs expansion: incorporate his Parallel Lives article and Moralia article in a more sensible way. Wrap the wiki mind around Plutarch.
- Category:Ancient Roman architecture is overlarge and needs emptied into existing and new subcategories
- Centrale Montemartini needs rewritten with up to date news, now that the rebuild of the Capitoline Museums main building is complete. Particularly for Wikipedians in Italy.
- Amores needs a lot of attention - (I have adopted Ovid's Amores Ninquelosse (talk) 11:12, 18 October 2014 (UTC))
- Education in Ancient Rome may need additional references
- The Roman Kingdom and its seven king articles are unreferenced and require clean-up
- Zeus, Poseidon, Minerva, Mercury need to be expanded and improved
- Fasti, Section Etymology, is unreferenced and so needs editing (starting from a decent source); see this Talk entry for Lewis & Short citn., which includes detail relevant to etymology and rest of article: [1]
- Ancient Greek comedy needs full referencing and some tidying-up
- Ancient Greek law needs lots of attention. Particularly, any information about the law outside of Athens would be greatly appreciated.
- Eclogues of Calpurnius; Eclogues of Nemesianus, Einsiedeln Eclogues. I just wrote them from scratch - any improvements would be very welcome.CHRM2 (talk) 21:09, 25 January 2016 (UTC)
- Flamen needs a good deal of attention - grammar, better sourcing, removal of informal language and a couple of other things. HalfdanRagnarsson (talk) 16:24, 10 August 2020 (UTC)
- The articles on Ancient Athens need attention. Classical Athens is not detailed enough, and a lot of its content is duplicated in Fifth-century Athens, and also History of Athens. There are big gaps on Athens during the Mycenaean, Archaic, Hellenistic, and Roman eras. Please discuss how to organise these articles on the Wikiproject's talk page if you want to (re)write them. T8612 (talk) 21:35, 16 August 2020 (UTC)
- Cyclops (play) needs some significant attention. Please have a look at Talk:Cyclops (play) for an explanation. I'm focused on another article right now, so any help or expertise you have would be appreciated. Imaginestigers (talk) 15:17, 16 October 2020 (UTC)
- Ancient pagan writers on Christianity: I have recently looked over the articles Tacitus on Jesus and Pliny the Younger on Christians, and I would like to have an outside view on them. The same holds for Josephus on Jesus and Suetonius on Christians, it's just that I haven't looked at them in detail yet. I am concerned that some of the things they say might be (more or less subtle) POV pushing, either pro-Christian or anti-Christian or more likely a wild mixture of these. I presume you who are reading this are more interested in Classical Greece and Rome than in Christian history, and I think this is exactly what these articles need now. Possible tasks include:
- Identify potential POV and fringe opinions, if present;
- Provide your judgment on what the scholarly consensus is (for example regarding authenticity of these passages);
- Add information on other aspects, such as the role of these passages in the work of the respective writers, their religious background (what do they mean by superstitio?),... --Corneille pensive (talk) 15:07, 15 April 2023 (UTC)
- New requested article on A. B. Bosworth, an Australian classicist (d. 2014), who is still one of the most important authors on Alexander the Great and the Hellenistic World. —Brigade Piron (talk) 12:07, 7 October 2023 (UTC)
Collaborative effort[edit]
The Theatre of Pompey (Latin: Theatrum Pompeium, Italian: Teatro di Pompeo) was a structure in Ancient Rome built during the later part of the Roman Republic. It was constructed in seven years from 55 BC, and was dedicated early in 52 BC before the structure was fully completed. The theatre was one of the first permanent (non-wooden) theatres in Rome. The building itself was a part of a multi-use complex that included a large quadriporticus directly behind the Scaenae frons. Inclosed by the large columned porticos was an expansive garden complex of fountains and statues. Along the stretch of covered arcade were rooms dedicated to the exposition of art and other works collected by Pompey Magnus during his campaigns.
On the opposite end of the garden complex was a curia for political meetings. The senate would often use this building along with a number of temples and halls that satisfied the requirements for them to formally meet. This is infamous as the place of Julius Caesar's murder by the Liberatores of the Roman Senate and elite.
General backlogs[edit]
The following task queues are backlogged and require the attention of experienced, knowledgeable Wikipedians. Tasks in the queue do not need to be cleared by a project member or somebody with knowledge in Classics, though help is readily available to Wikipedians with expertise that does not extend to Ancient Greece and Rome who require it.
