Vote here (4/15/5) ending 04:15 15 August 2005 (UTC) Coolcat (talk · contribs) - Coolcat has been with the Wikipedia community since 4 February 2005, and has accumulated nearly 9,000 edits since then. He has continually participated within several Wikipedia activities such as "Picture of the Day," and in my opinion has a generally profound interest in aiding the entire WikiCommunity --D. J. Since people are opposing because of an RfAr and threatening to leave wikipedia if I do become an admin it is rather pointless to go on with this (ie withdrawing). Rather disapointing. Cat chi? 19:04, 8 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I think the way a controversial user handle the proposition of adminship, tells sometimes a lot. Even for him, I would have thought he'd refuse, but accepted, and changed his mind only after the votes. What I know is that, I, as a member that was less controversial than him, would not have accepted such a proposition even before any votes, because I believe am right now too confrontational. I also believe that Adminship should not be given as a reward or edit count based, considering the power Admins have. Beside, I also believe that there should be a quota of admin per member, and about the same proportion should be followed, from how many new members registered, calculating how much more new Admins should be chosen etc. Just my 2 cent. Fascinating. A number of people fail to read the title. Wikipedia:Requests for adminship is not a forum where you mock users. If you are not going to make a professional comment (a comment that is prospectively productive to the candidate), dont make one at all. Just vote without an excuse.   9. Having a "generally profound interest" in helping Wikipedia is one thing; having a decent understanding of how to go about doing so is another. Not realizing that one doesn't normally vote on one's own adminship nomination is just the tip of an iceberg of things Coolcat has yet to learn about how Wikipedia works. Coolcat perhaps means well, but hasn't demonstrated a consistent grasp of policy and is not nearly ready enough for me to trust that he would make a decent admin. --Michael Snow 16:45, 8 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  11. Oppose:I can't concieve how anyone could either be neutral or support this. People like Coolcat are a threat to the integrity of Wikipedia, I can't imagine what would happen the day he becomes an Admin.     NeutralAn active editor who seems to do good stuff. Would like to see answers to the questions, though. I have concerns however: There is a woeful lack of edit summaries and, where they are used, they are often at the thin end of civility e.g. [1], [2] (just say 'rvv' will do), [3], [4]. I just plain don't understand these [5] or [6] summaries at all. Also I noticed this, just because it was at the top of the contribs when I looked: [7], where he removes some images that are probably copyvio (incorrectly calling such vandalism) but in the process removes all the interlang links and categories too. All of this fairly minor and focussed on edit summaries; I probably only noticed it because of the sparsity of the summaries! Thus I'm not sure it's grounds for opposal, but I'll watch how things go. -Splash 06:27, 8 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
    Actualy the problem is that I have to click save several times for it to accept. Sometimes edit summary just doesnt get through. Revert button generates an edit summary so me being an admin would fix this problem. ;) Cat chi? 12:37, 8 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
    Generaly IP's dont detect copyvios. And if one is removing images as "copy vio" an edit suppary or a copy vio template is ncesary so that I know it isn't a case of vandalism/sneaky vandalism.     I find it a little hard to swallow that 90-something percent of your edit summaries fail to "get through". Occasionally, perhaps, but the fact is that most of the time you don't enter them. Inventing excuses in the midst of an RfA isn't the best way to go: you could just have taken the suggestion on board and said "I'll make sure I use edit summaries in future". Rollback does generate an edit for vandalism reverts, yes, but that still leaves all your other edits. -Splash 23:09, 8 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  3. I mostly know CoolCat from the Kurdistan Workers Party article, where I have had no particular quarrel with him and found his participation extremely helpful.   • I am also very disappointed at the incivility exhibited on this RFA. When opposing, giving reasoning for it is one thing -- that is a good idea, in fact. But adding extra vehemence (like threatening to leave the project if the RFA succeeds) doesn't give any clarification of reasoning, and really serves only to make the process hurtful for the candidate. kmccoy (talk) 19:55, 9 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
    • My intention was not to threaten, I just said what I will do the day Coolcat becomes an Admin. What is a threat though, is when Coolcat to get some peoples support after he has done something wrong, tell that he will be leaving, and this continuisly, unstop. I won't hide that I don't like the guy, and no one could force me to like him after everything he did and the way he lied on peoples face in various occasions. I never denied to be harsh with him, but it isen't like I'm harsh with the typical Wikipedian, I am not. I believe that to owe respect to someone, that person should respect you in exchange. A. RC patroling is difficult without the revert button or the "block vandal" button.
2. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?

A. The only such case is the one in Arbitration. I tried to keep my cool used all means of dispute resolution but all attempts have failed.
