I can't figure out what language this is, but it doesn't seem directly related to the topic. TraderCharlotte (talk) 23:01, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. The closest spelling to that, that I could find, is a type of curry. --Tryptofish (talk) 23:09, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was moot. Redirect has been converted into an article. (non-admin closure) CycloneYoris talk! 22:49, 14 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Pak Tongjin (musician) is a notable musician, and we have an article about him. The redirect needs to be deleted. Atsme 💬 📧 22:48, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. Per nom, it should not target to the wrong person. --Tryptofish (talk) 23:11, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Well, not just delete, but move (musician) to the nominated title. Proper spellings should always take precedence over typos, and no need to have a redlinked Primary page while we have a disambiguated title. Happy Editing--IAmChaos 03:26, 8 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Please note that this is no longer a redirect. User:Primefac moved the article formerly at Park Tong-jin to the title. - Eureka Lott 13:44, 8 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Not a Japanese fish. TraderCharlotte (talk) 20:41, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. Not Japanese, and I don't think it's ever called Japanese. --Tryptofish (talk) 23:15, 7 July 2022 (UTC) Keep, per Fieari below. --Tryptofish (talk) 23:42, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep - They aren't Japanese, but common names don't have to be logical in any way, shape, or form. Google shows that this is a VERY common name for them, correct or not, so a redirect is appropriate. Fieari (talk) 23:40, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per Fieari. For common names of organisms, all we need is evidence that the term does refer to the organism, which Fieari has provided. The common name does not have to be factually correct; for instance, Guinea pigs are neither pigs nor from Guinea. — Ceso femmuin mbolgaig mbung, mellohi! (投稿) 20:24, 8 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Chinese fighting fish[edit]

Bettas aren't Chinese? TraderCharlotte (talk) 20:41, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Unless there is another fish other than Betta splendens with an English common name of "Chinese fighting fish", which Google does not seem to know about after a quick search, then I think the redirect should stay. Someone searching for fighting fish who is not very knowledgeable may well search for Chinese fighting fish, conflating China with Southeast Asia. - Nick Thorne talk 21:43, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, I'm not really sure... a lot of geographical places could be wrongly conflated with others due to a lack of knowledge, but that could be a slippery slope; what's to stop someone from creating a redirect like "Canadian Civil War" redirecting to the American Civil War, or Irish Raj redirecting to the British Raj? I feel like we should assume most people are at least somewhat competent in geography before allowing a redirect like this. TraderCharlotte (talk) 22:54, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
What's to stop someone from doing so? Checking to see if the term is in common usage first. If it is, make the redirect. If not, don't. Correctness does not apply, only usage. Fieari (talk) 23:52, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. A plausible search term, a misnomer that is not unexpected. --Tryptofish (talk) 23:17, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep - As I said with the "Japanese" version, above, common names don't have to be logical or "correct" in any way, shape, or form. Google shows that this is a VERY common name for them, correct or not, so a redirect is appropriate. Fieari (talk) 23:43, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep as long as the name itself can be proven to be in use (and Fieari's search clearly proves this). Common names for organisms do not have to be factually correct; for example, Guinea pigs are neither pigs nor from Guinea. — Ceso femmuin mbolgaig mbung, mellohi! (投稿) 20:19, 8 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Agree per nom. - Nick Thorne talk 21:44, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom. --Tryptofish (talk) 23:18, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - Checked google to see if any prominent sites use it this way which could potentially lead to copy and paste... nope. Only results either don't have the hyphens, or are wikipedia forks. Implausible search term. Fieari (talk) 23:51, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete: I don't really understand this formatting, but it's an incredibly implausible redirect. Maybe Siamese Betta fighter fish would be a bit more reasonable, but I'm split as to if that would be needed either. TartarTorte 16:33, 8 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep: plausible typo or misspelling if youve only heard the name and arent familiar with it Happy Editing--IAmChaos 03:22, 8 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak keep letter reduplication would be a basic form of {{R from typo}} resulting from a sticky key -- 64.229.88.43 (talk) 06:51, 8 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per the above. Plausible misspelling indeed. CycloneYoris talk! 10:02, 14 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Implausible search term. MB 06:38, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete per nom. Seems to have been created by accident, the creator not realising that an article on the city already existed at the target Kemune. – Joe (talk) 13:38, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as implausible and potentially ambiguous. Searches of this nature are not performed using redirects; a list of search results would be more useful to find the desired page. ComplexRational (talk) 12:43, 8 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I'm bemused. Are we allowing emoji redirects now? Are people going to search this term or others like this? Iseult Δx parlez moi 05:54, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Weak delete per WP:EMOJI, since the emoji's meaning is sort of unclear, and a health professional is not the first thing that comes to mind when seeing this one. CycloneYoris talk! 08:06, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    • It's literally a joiner of a person and a medical symbol. The appearance is that of a doctor. So I don't see how it could not be clear.Pacingpal (talk) 14:16, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
      • But you still have to zoom in to actually view the details that you describe, and it's not even rendered correctly in some browsers, with the appearance of two empty squares instead. CycloneYoris talk! 00:32, 8 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep We already have 👨‍⚕️ and 👩‍⚕️ redirecting to the health professional page. So there's no reason not to have 🧑‍⚕️.Pacingpal (talk) 14:16, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per WP:EMOJI since it's unambiguous. This emoji is named "Health worker" (while the two mentioned above are "Man health worker" and "Woman health worker", respectively). Skynxnex (talk) 19:07, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep: Thanks to Pacingpal for letting us know what the joiner was. Happy Editing--IAmChaos 03:20, 8 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
