Nicolás Larcamón[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was Reverse draftication. I reversed this draftification and move the article back from Draft space to main space Liz Read! Talk! 01:44, 12 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This is a redirect to the Draft namespace and as such would normally be deleted per WP:R2. However, WP:DRAFTIFY suggests that you should only move an article to the Draft namespace as the result of a deletion process or as part of new page patrol. As the page has been in the Article namespace since 2019, this could be seen as an attempt to circumvent AfD, so maybe the move should be reverted instead. Not mentioned at the target, delete unless a justification can be provided. signed, Rosguill talk 16:54, 11 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    • I had created this redirect page in order to be able to list "The Good Life" in the 2021 video game category page. I am aware it didn't have a page of its own prior, and no one has created an entry for it yet on the Playism. However, it seems to me that the 2021 video game category page is designed to be inclusive of all releases, and this was my attempt to be able to properly add it to the category page while it did not yet have its own article or section on the Playism page. Tostie14 (talk) 17:01, 11 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete Per WP:REDLINK, unless someone makes an article in the meantime, in which case this discussion is totally moot.ZXCVBNM (TALK) 15:50, 12 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete to encourage article creation. The 2021 video game category page is designed to be inclusive of Wikipedia articles that exist, not those that don't. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 08:50, 13 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ass cancer[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was no consensus to delete. (non-admin closure) feminist (t) 06:32, 20 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

No one will seriously search for "ass cancer" on wikipedia Aalaa324 (talk) 11:21, 11 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Disambiguate or Keep because nothing has changed since the last two nominations or the Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ass cancer. 289 people used this redirect last year, which is a long way from "no one". Whether they were using it seriously or not is both unknowable and irrelevant. Thryduulf (talk) 12:17, 11 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete This feels like when that admin made several redirects from every possible variant of a breast-related article's name. While the redirect has been used, it's not like it's that important, and I don't think anyone is going to give up searching just because "Ass cancer" turned up blank. ☢️Plutonical☢️ᵀᵃˡᵏ ᵗᵒ ᵐᵉ 21:30, 11 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Eh? So you want to make it harder for people to find the content they are looking for because you dislike that someone else created redirects to a completely different article!? That ranks among the silliest and most pointy rationales I've ever heard at RfD. People using redirects to find article content is the entire point of redirects, so yes it absolutely is important. Thryduulf (talk) 01:00, 12 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Strong delete as a ridiculous search term that doesn't even mean the same thing as its target since "ass" means buttocks. If the redirect was "asshole cancer" it would at least make more sense, although it would still be highly unlikely to use as a legitimate search term. As for why it got 289 hits, it is incredibly unlikely that people were using it because they legitimately wanted to learn about anal cancer. It is far more likely that they were messing around with the search feature and typed "Ass c" and wondered why Wikipedia would possibly have an article about ass cancer. Evil Sith Lord (talk) 08:52, 12 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
    • I just looked it up, and apparently "ass" actually can mean "anus". However, I am still keeping my vote the same due to the implausibility of this actually being used as a legitimate search term. Evil Sith Lord (talk) 09:14, 12 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
We have no way of knowing why people are using a search term, but even in the unlikely event that everybody using it is "messing around" at least some of them will follow the link and read the article, which means the encyclopaedia has done its job in educating people (which is the purpose of Wikipedia). When I was a teenager I did something similar with a CD-ROM encyclopaedia we had and learned about random things that way. Finally, even in the extraordinarily unlikely event that nobody is using this to find what they're looking for and nobody finding this randomly learns anything, then the redirect is still completely harmless. As for the likelihood of people genuinely looking for this, see e.g. [1], [2], [3], [4] and [5] any of which could cause someone to search Wikipedia for whether "ass cancer" is a thing and/or what it is. I found those by spending approximately 2 minutes on google, so chances are there are many more similar pages, especially given that one of the uses is in a Hollywood film. Thryduulf (talk) 14:46, 12 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep Unambiguous and I could plausibly see some 12-year-old kid who genuinely wants to reach the article for anal cancer typing this in while snickering to himself. I don't agree with the Neelix comparison, as we didn't delete his redirects for being puerile, we deleted them for being unlikely search terms. Mlb96 (talk) 18:03, 12 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep It exists, makes sense, and deletion does not in any way improve Wikipedia. If we can have an article on the Time Cube, we can have a redirect from ass cancer. Also, WP:RFD#K5. Paradoctor (talk) 00:35, 13 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment Most hits were probably people typing profanities into the wikipedia search bar to see what comes up. I have engaged in this activity myself many times and I don't doubt that others have too. (JayPlaysStuff | talk to me | What I've been up to) 03:27, 13 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
False consensus effect. Paradoctor (talk) 03:47, 13 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Whether that is true or not (and we have no way of knowing) why is that relevant? Thryduulf (talk) 04:06, 13 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per Thryduulf. While I am highly positive that a good chunk of these are joke searches, the pageviews are still solid and there is no way to confirm how many searches are jokes. OcelotCreeper2 (talk) 23:14, 14 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

English English girl name Fiona[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was no consensus. (non-admin closure) CycloneYoris talk! 02:09, 21 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Delete the redirect. Dubious usefulness, although it is a lyric of the song it is practically unused, as shown by PageViews tool. Except for the four views mid-August (and any views I've added now), no-one have used this redirect. - 49.147.69.72 (talk) 09:31, 22 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete per nom. English girls' name Fiona could maybe be a plausible redirect to Fiona (the article about the English girls' name) but the duplicate "English" and poor grammar make this implausible in my opinion. Thryduulf (talk) 13:04, 22 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak Keep {{R from lyric}} / {{R from quote}} -- 64.229.90.53 (talk) 19:45, 23 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. It's the opening line from Body by Tion Wayne. Somebody unfamiliar with the song's proper title would search for it on wiki using the most memorable part of the lyrics. 53zodiac (talk) 20:22, 24 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Weak delete. The actual lyric, both as reported on lyrics sites and as I hear it, is "E-E-English girl named Fiona". That means that this is not an {{r from lyric}}, but rather an "r from misheard lyric". Some misheard lyrics are quite famous, but almost all hits for this appear to be bot-generated. Still, the redirect's creator thought it was the lyric, and maybe one or two other people out there did, which is why this is a weak delete. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she/they) 04:56, 1 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
    • Comment no, "E-E-English girl named Fiona" is one lyric preceding "Big batty girl named Abiola", while "English, English girl named Fiona" is another lyric preceding "African girl, Adeola" -- 64.229.90.53 (talk) 20:50, 2 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep - It's lyrics from a song that people would search for. I doubt redirecting it to Fiona or deleting would do any good. — curiousGolden call me maybe? 08:31, 11 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. Redirects from song lyrics are generally tenuous. Redirects from song lyrics with typos ("name" instead of "named") are not useful. - Eureka Lott 17:03, 12 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was delete. Hog Farm Talk 14:57, 18 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

"Human arts" appears to be not an idiom, but a simple phrase with compositional meaning, i.e. what it means in any given context will depend on what "human" and "arts" mean in that context. I can see uses of the phrase to refer to the arts generally, or specifically to those works of art that are directly human-created (vs. computer-generated), or to the humanities, or to human material culture.... – Uanfala (talk) 00:58, 11 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete this doesn't make sense. The human arts... are the arts by humans, instead of say horses (which sell for a bundle), and medicine doesn't even cover philosophy or the social sciences (the art of being human). -- 64.229.90.53 (talk) 22:41, 11 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Delete and salt. While Kiwi Farms was initially created to target the creator of "Sonichu", neither Sonichu nor the creator is named at the target page and does not need to be per WP:BLP. Ten Pound Hammer(What did I screw up now?) 00:20, 11 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • ETA: Also delete Sonichu (Comic) for the same reason. Ten Pound Hammer(What did I screw up now?) 00:21, 11 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • BREAK THEM BOTH DEAD per nom! It's pretty dubious whether Chris Chan is notable enough for a notable article, but Christian Weston Chandler and Christine Weston Chandler have both been WP:SALTed up per the policy after multiple recreations, so these nearly same titles in that regard might also need to be sprinkled with some more halite to prevent further attempts to Jump The Shark. Regards, SONIC678 04:41, 11 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • 🧂Salt it!🧂. It should be deleted per nom, but also salted, as the comic itself has no notability and probably never will, given that they've already achieved their 15 minutes of fame and haven't showed up in a reliable source.☢️Plutonical☢️ᵀᵃˡᵏ ᵗᵒ ᵐᵉ 21:37, 11 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete One-off events aren't notable. This guy had some internet notoriety and might warrant an entry at List of Internet phenomena but that's it. The only thing which received widespread media coverage was when this guy took the phrase 'doing your mom' a bit too literally; and again, 15-minutes-of-fame style events don't warrant a whole wikipedia article. Sonichu is even more obscure, and i doubt it's ever received any significant media coverage. (JayPlaysStuff | talk to me | What I've been up to) 22:37, 11 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Note I did not realise Chris-Chan identified as female. I used the male terms because I was not aware of her gender identity. (JayPlaysStuff | talk to me | What I've been up to) 03:30, 13 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete and salt Not mentioned at target for obvious reasons, and also doesn't help our readers. Anyone searching for this term probably wants to find an article on Chris-chan herself, an article which we do not have; redirecting to an actual article will just confuse readers. I also think it's safe to salt this, as despite becoming perhaps the most documented individual in history, Chris-chan managed to never receive coverage in reliable sources, and given that she is looking down the barrel of a lengthy prison sentence, she likely never will. Mlb96 (talk) 18:20, 12 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom. This can't be salted though, because it already is, and the redirect was created by an admin (per a request according to the edit summary). Maybe someone could find the request Explicit was referring to... OcelotCreeper2 (talk) 23:05, 14 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
    • Edit: @Apokrif: The requests are on the talk pages of both redirects. Having found the creation requests lacking in explanation as to why the redirects should've been created, I am pinging the requester to hopefully shed some light on the subject. OcelotCreeper2 (talk) 23:10, 14 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
