Originally nominated for speedy deletion by @Laterthanyouthink with the reason "Part of a mistaken redirect - this one is unnecessary" FASTILY 03:39, 15 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Comment I created this when I had mistakenly assumed that this brewery was the maker of Mac's craft beer. This turned out to be not the case, so I fixed other redirects, but as there's no indication that this brewery is known as Mac's, can't see any reason for keeping it. It could confuse people looking for Mac's beers. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 04:11, 15 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Laterthanyouthink, the redirect was created by Smaunsell in 2006. – Uanfala (talk) 16:18, 15 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Keep and point to Lion (Australasian company) instead. Then again, even leaving this as it is would be fine. Mac's was started by Terry McCashin in 1981; it was the country's first craft beer. He sold the brand in 1999 to Lion. Schwede66 18:09, 15 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Schwede66 Ah, sorry, I must have thought it was one of the ones I'd created in error when I was trying to track down the myriad brands Lion now owns, and got led to McCashin's before discovering that they didn't make Mac's beer, and trying to clean up afterwards. Funny the website doesn't mention Mac's beers at all, even on its history page. If the redirect is kept as is (or whatever the final decision), I think the McCashin Brewery article needs something in the article and/or as a hatnote to explain the relationship to Mac's craft beers, with that source and perhaps another. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 23:49, 15 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Retarget to Lion (Australasian company), where it seems to have the most coverage.—Bagumba (talk) 04:43, 17 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Update As Bagumba was typing their comment, I was busy updating the brewery article. Have a look at what I've done at both targets and see what you think (and Schwede66 and Fastily), but I'm happy to leave as is now that the redirects and explanations are in place. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Laterthanyouthink (talkcontribs) 10:19, 17 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment After the restructuring mentioned above, I dont have a strong feeling if the target needs moving or not.—Bagumba (talk) 01:43, 23 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep as-is - I think with the changes made to the McCashin's article the redirect is fine for the moment, especially with the distinction of the current brand being made via the hatnotes — Preceding unsigned comment added by Turnagra (talkcontribs) 08:46, 23 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep Now that the respective articles have all been expanded and refer to one another, my preference is to keep it as it is. The second but less preferred option is to retarget it to Lions. Schwede66 18:17, 24 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was retarget to Warner Bros.#International distribution arrangements. signed, Rosguill talk 17:27, 29 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Appears to be some joint venture Columbia Pictures and Warner Bros. operated back in the 1970s or 1980s, and the company's name alone basically causes the redirects to become interchangeable, rendering this page pointless. IceWalrus236 (talk) 19:24, 14 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was Delete all except Great ball. signed, Rosguill talk 17:26, 29 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Generic phrases that can refer to any number of things are best handled by the search engine. Some of these aren't even mentioned in the target article, and the ones that are mentioned appear to be well below the "minimum content resolution" for having redirects. – Uanfala (talk) 23:42, 6 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'm hesitant to delete "Electric type" also, but it does seem a lot more generic, and I suspect has other uses. BlackholeWA (talk) 05:05, 7 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • keep Electric type? Doesn't see like this phrase really refers to anything else specifically from a Google books search.--Prisencolin (talk) 08:18, 7 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Strong Delete "electric type": like AC and DC; or as in a gas car vs electric? ;; "Hydro pump": like a hydraulic pump, water pump, water poweed pump, electrically powered pump? ;; "great ball": like Odama? or a very good play in sports? ;; "Icy Wind": As in the song from Tervaskanto? the North wind in poetry ? ;; "Fire Blast" : Such as wikt:fire blast ?  ;; -- 67.70.26.89 (talk) 19:51, 9 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Retarget Hydro pump to Hydraulic pump as a plausible search term. The Pokemon term is the primary topic on Google but we don't have any content about it that I've found so there is no appropriate place to add a hatnote. Thryduulf (talk) 20:13, 14 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep Great ball as explained in that article. Delete others unless mentioned. Hydro pump reminds me more of Hydraulic pump. AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 07:12, 15 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

World traveler[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was retarget to World Traveler as {{R from other capitalisation}}. (non-admin closure) Seventyfiveyears (talk) 02:26, 30 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The target is a list of notable travelers; handful of entries are described as world travelers, but the article does not discuss the concept much at all. I think that this is likely a case of WP:R#DELETE #10, and also note that the existence of this redirect makes it harder for readers to find the article World Traveler signed, Rosguill talk 16:13, 14 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Retarget to World Traveler and add a hatnote to the current target there. That would seem to be the solution that benefits the greatest number of people. Thryduulf (talk) 20:15, 14 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Also a former name of the Cumberland Times-News, so should perhaps be disambiguated or something else instead. {{u|Sdkb}}talk 11:39, 6 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Disambiguate per nom --Northernhenge (talk) 16:51, 6 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Relisting comment: Shhhnotsoloud placed the hatnote on the targetted page, but the first comment chooses to disambiguate. Therefore, I'm certainly not sure of what to do with this.
Please add new comments below this notice. Thanks, Seventyfiveyears (talk) 04:41, 22 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. The new hatnote is sufficient, as the target article is the PT, and uses the exact name. If The Cumberland News is a former name of The Cumberland Times-News, its not mentioned in that article. So just go with the hatnote. MB 02:08, 26 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Mincopies race[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was delete. signed, Rosguill talk 17:24, 29 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Created as an article in 2006, whose entire content was: The anthropologist Thomas Huxley in On the Methods and Results of Ethnology (1865) defined the Mincopies race to be the indigenous peoples of the Andaman islands and Nicobar islands south of India. It was turned into a redirect three weeks later. Now, the related redirect Mincopies exists, and its target is probably alright (usage of the term is well documented in 19th-century texts). However, the exact term "mincopies race" is virtually unattested, and even if the concept existed at some point in the past, it must be so obscure that it's unlikely to ever get mentioned on Wikipedia. Using "race" redirects when there's no content about actual races is OR, and and I don't think otherwise "race" would be a plausible synonym for "people", even given the Victorian context. – Uanfala (talk) 01:13, 22 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
