Redirect with release year mismatches with years occurring in the past[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was Keep Masterminds (2015 film), Simba (2019 film), and Cabaret (2016 film); delete the others. ~ Amory (utc) 01:49, 9 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Failed WP:CRYSTAL/wrong year. Steel1943 (talk) 15:52, 15 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete I believe all of these qualify as speedy G6, housekeeping. UnitedStatesian (talk) 21:21, 15 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep Masterminds (2015 film), the article discusses that the film was scheduled for release in 2015 and was at that title for a year. -- Tavix (talk) 21:58, 15 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.
Please add new comments below this notice. Thanks, BDD (talk) 21:59, 26 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment several of these are redirects from page moves that were not the result of mistakes so G6 definitely does not apply. Thryduulf (talk) 17:21, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete all. Outdated information that no longer serves a purpose. PC78 (talk) 18:19, 28 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Simba (2019 film) mentions that it was done in 2016 and suffered a long delay until its 2019 release, so that's also possibly not an entirely incorrect date. Cabaret also was originally a 2016 release, so dates in between might also have been publicized. So I would keep the "Cabaret (2016)" redirect as well, and lean towards keeping any that are likely correct at some point in time. ---- Patar knight - chat/contributions 00:55, 6 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see how anyone would enter 'John William Peter Newman' into Wikipedia in order to get to this page, so I believe this redirect should be deleted. Serhatserhatserhat (talk) 19:15, 26 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

What does this have to do with the series? Paper Luigi TC 15:19, 26 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete - unclear what is the association with the target. We have two articles on places known as "Gallagher" and neither have any information on their bus depots; I surmise they're both actually too small to have one. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 14:14, 1 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - original target was List of places in Codename: Kids Next Door, deleted as fancruft. Characters attend Gallagher Elementary School but even that isn't mentioned in the current target, so I think it can go away. Certes (talk) 09:52, 2 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect does not reference any specific character or episode. It may allude to the character Professor XXXL in some way, but I can't see this as a viable redirect or even a plausible typo. Paper Luigi TC 15:15, 26 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This is too general to relate to a specific fictional character. Delete. Paper Luigi TC 14:55, 26 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Retarget to Joey (name) where there is a list of people (including fictional people) known as Joey, form many of whom it is a short form of "Joseph". That article also links to Joseph. There is no Joey Beetles currently mentioned at the target article so I haven't added them to the list, but others should feel to if they think it appropriate. Thryduulf (talk) 17:32, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per WP:XY since Joseph (name) and Joey (name) are covered with different articles. -- Tavix (talk) 20:23, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
    • They are, but if someone is using this search term they are exclusively interested in people named "Joseph" who go by the name "Joey". Such individuals are covered on the Joey (name) article and are (mostly?) not listed on the Joseph article so there is no XY issue. Thryduulf (talk) 14:52, 1 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - this is an {{R from move}} and we often keep those, but this redirect also suffers from being WP:RFD#D2 confusing, per the nomination. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 14:11, 1 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

...and Mandy. That's the key part of this redirect that's missing. Delete. Paper Luigi TC 14:02, 26 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment the earliest entry in the history of this redirect appears to be a revert, and there is no entry for the page in the deletion log, so I'm utterly confused about how it came to be? Thryduulf (talk) 17:38, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
There are history merges and splits in the logs for the main article. Probably somewhere along the way this revert was unpaired from the history of the edit being reverted, and it's possible that's on a page that is now deleted. I can't find it, it's probably not too important. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 14:09, 1 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak keep - possibly an {{R with history}} per the above, and gets readers to the topic they're most likely looking for. There aren't any titles for "The Grim Adventures of Billy and <some other name>" that I can find. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 14:09, 1 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep since there is nothing else this could be confused with. -- Tavix (talk) 15:02, 1 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Very peculiar thing to be a redirect. The actual redirect should be "The Odd Adventures of Richard and Mitchard". An obscure redirect that's also a misspelling/mishearing sounds like it should be deleted to me. Paper Luigi TC 13:54, 26 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A misspelling and an inappropriate diacritic? Delete. Paper Luigi TC 13:48, 26 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • See Ċ. This would be pronounced "Chowder", though I don't see any reason this would be used for the show. Even if it's another language's rendering of the word, you'd expect it to just point to Chowder, where WP:FORRED might apply. --BDD (talk) 21:50, 26 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. "Ċowder" does not appear to be a term in any language, let alone the name for this series. Google finds no results that seem to be independent of this redirect. Thryduulf (talk) 17:43, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - reverse Eubot? This was created by a user "Todosainformacion", suggesting utility in Spanish, but Spanish does not use this character. I don't think any Latin languages use this character. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 14:03, 1 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
    • According to the article linked above, it is used in Maltese and Chechen (although the latter is more usually written in Cyrillic), was formerly used in Irish and is used in some modern transcriptions of Old English. None of those languages have any particular affinity with this target though. Thryduulf (talk) 14:48, 1 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

More than one attack in Brussels B dash (talk) 05:50, 26 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Timeline of Brussels should list them all, but doesn't; 1979 Brussels bombing, at least, isn't listed. Since it lists so many other topics, it's also debatable whether this would be more helpful for a user than search results. On the other hand, if the 2016 event is truly WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for the title "Brussels bombings", instead of just the beneficiary of WP:RECENTISM (the 1979 event didn't get an article until last year), you could make the argument that it is for "Attack in Brussels" too. Probably not, given military events (e.g., Siege of Brussels). --BDD (talk) 21:55, 26 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. There have been more "attacks" in Brussels than just bombings, and certainly just this one bombing in particular. This might be a candidate for a disambiguation page if it had more than two hits in the last 90 days, but no readers are looking for this so let's just delete it. As a side note I agree that the article currently at Brussels bombings should be moved away from that title. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 13:56, 1 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Undiscussed edit by SrpskiAnonimac deviating from langstanding consensus redirecting to Latin Church (except 2013-2016). Oughtn't it be changed back to Latin Church per the longest part of its history? PPEMES (talk) 17:13, 18 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Retarget to Latin Church. Based on the meaning of the term, that should be the more appropriate target. --Bsherr (talk) 16:45, 25 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not even sure what argument to use and what the guideline is on redirecting one person to another. However, this just seems wrong. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:37, 26 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Redirecting one person to another isn't inherently wrong, and there are even Rcats for it, like {{R from relative}}. Whoever this person is, though, they aren't mentioned anywhere on Wikipedia. --BDD (talk) 21:51, 26 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • True. But she does seem to be the victim of a hoax, no? Or was she? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:27, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per WP:BLP1E, that event being that she's an Instagrammer who earned some fame off looking kind of like Angelina Jolie. It's probably BLP0E, to be honest, but readers will not find any information about this in Jolie's bio, nor should they. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 13:59, 1 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
