It is unclear why the redirect targets only one subject that could be referred to as "tracked" versus all of the options on the disambiguation page Track. I was about to WP:BOLDly retarget the redirect there, but afterwards, I discovered the existence of another related disambiguation page Tracking. With that being said, this title may be the most useful when searched if this redirect was deleted. Steel1943 (talk) 20:14, 11 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. I agree that it's best to let users use the search function to find articles associated with this term. -- Notecardforfree (talk) 21:44, 11 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Explosive intensification[edit]

The result of the discussion was retarget to Explosive cyclogenesis. (non-admin closure) feminist 13:29, 19 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This redirect's target is Tropical cyclone#Intensity. The "Intensity" section does not exist. This is probably the result of a broken anchor, and it isn't helping me or anyone else as it is. The context of the link "explosive intensification" was in the article 2017 Pacific typhoon season, specifically the summary section Typhoon Noru. "Explosive intensification" may be the same thing as Rapid deepening. Apparently there is an ongoing discussion at Rapid deepening, and the proposed name is Rapid intensification which would further suggest that Explosive intensification = Rapid intensification = Rapid deepening. Note that "Tropical cyclone" does cover Rapid deepening. But I am not certain the terms are the same. I do know that this redirect right now is unacceptable.  — Mr. Guye (talk) (contribs)  00:37, 11 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete - I agree that the redirect is not useful in its current form. The redirect does not link to a relevant section on the topic page, and is ambiguous / unused enough that it wouldn't normally be linked to the target page. -- Ajraddatz (talk) 07:23, 11 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Retarget to explosive cyclogenesis - good find by Ivanvector below, that would be a much better target for the redirect . -- Ajraddatz (talk) 16:24, 11 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Switch the redirect to rapid deepening since it is a more natural target, not to mention that it was only changed due to a merge that was recently reverted. YE Pacific Hurricane 14:19, 11 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to explosive cyclogenesis - the rapid deepening article does not mention the use of this term even under its historical nomenclature section. The cyclogenesis article already includes "explosive" and defines the process as analogous to rapid deepening, so disambiguation is taken care of. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 15:53, 11 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to explosive cyclogenesis per Ianvector. Thryduulf (talk) 16:35, 15 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
