Not a valid alternative name, there are other (non-notable) companies by this name. - CHAMPION (talk) (contributions) (logs) 23:12, 15 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete per nom. Lots of other companies in searches. No confusion with MSFT or Microsoft. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 05:17, 16 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete Companies other than the obvious Microsoft use this name.--SamHolt6 (talk) 05:45, 16 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was retarget to Tense (album). A hatnote pointing to The Big O shall be added. (non-admin closure) Winged Blades of GodricOn leave 12:31, 22 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Is also a track on an album by TVXQ. Should this be a dab page? JZCL 21:59, 15 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

That's a good option for the hatnote, either The Big O or the List of fictional holidays. It may depend on whether it's a notable holiday in that story like a Remembrance Day, or whether it's mentioned in passing, and whether other media use the same convention. The song track seems to be the only one of its name, and I don't see any books with the same title. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 15:40, 16 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Uneeded redirect - originally created at wrong title. Dysklyver 10:56, 15 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment: This redirect is a {{R from move}}, but it may technically qualify for {{Db-subpage}}. Steel1943 (talk) 21:09, 16 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete – Unused redirect. "What links here" has no links other than some placed in the context of this discussion, like a notice about this discussion which mentions the link. The Transhumanist 07:09, 17 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was withdrawn. After the discussion below and some more thinking, I no longer think this category should be deleted. -- Tavix (talk) 01:34, 22 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This redirect is misleading as doctors are not necessarily physicians. A doctor is anyone who holds a doctoral degree, which is a much wider sub-set of people than physicians. -- Tavix (talk) 04:37, 15 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thanks for finding that. Uncontroversial category renames are handled at WP:CFD/S, but they often go to full discussion at WP:CFD. A merge is quite a bit different than a rename, so Feminist's language threw me off. -- Tavix (talk) 15:55, 17 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per Feminist's comment ... unless this nominated page (I thought category redirects were discussed elsewhere) is converted to a new category. Due to how category redirects are created after a move, WP:REDLINK should not apply to them in regards to deleting them. (Overwriting, sure, but not deleting.) Steel1943 (talk) 15:01, 17 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Steel1943: An ideal category with this name would be populated with everyone who holds a doctoral degree. Do you think that would be useful categorization? -- Tavix (talk) 15:21, 17 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Tavix: That's what I was essentially thinking, but ... it may need subcategories, probably by the degree's major. However, whether or not I actually support the idea of converting the redirect to a category ... I'm "neutral" ... since Doctor is a disambiguation page. Basically, see Doctor#Personal titles; I wonder if the association of the word "doctor" with the degree over the medical profession is a worldwide view. If not, converting the redirect to a actual category may cause issues. That, and as far as I know, there's no such thing as a disambiguation page in the "Category:" namespace. Steel1943 (talk) 15:31, 17 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Category disambiguations are rare but there are some out there, see Category:Disambiguation categories. I think the fact that doctor is a disambiguation page is good evidence that the medical usage of the term may not be primary. That's why I feel pretty strongly that the status quo isn't a good set-up. I think if we go the "create a category" route, it could be populated with sub-cats of professions where a doctorate is required (then Category:Physicians would be one of those sub-cats) along with, for example, Category:Celebrity doctors (note that Dr. Phil is in this category and he's not a physician). It wouldn't be as much work as individually categorizing everyone with a doctorate. -- Tavix (talk) 15:51, 17 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Tavix: Now that I know that disambiguation pages in the "Category:" namespace exist, I think the route here is to convert Category:Doctors into a disambiguation page including/after creating a new (or finding the existing) category for people with doctoral degrees, possible something like Category:People with a doctoral degree. Redirect from offensive term for article subject. I don't think we should have redirects which are designed to insult the article subject, especially when they are relatively rare epithets. SJK (talk) 00:40, 15 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
