What looks to be a meaningless term that has lost the base of its redirect from an original discussion at Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Kinetite. Seems like its time has come unless someone can find an authoritative reference, and give meaning to an otherwise non-encyclopaedic word — billinghurst sDrewth 09:39, 4 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • There are two uses of the word "Kinetite" that I've been able to find.
    • One is a term used in the Star Wars universe for a ball of energy used as a weapon, "Fireball" is not an unreasonable approximation of this. It seems this is not used outside that context and its lack of mention in any of the Wikipedia articles about that franchise suggests it is not notable enough for our purposes.
    • Completely independently of that, in the 1880s there was an explosive going by the name of "Kinetite" which appears notable from what I've managed to find [1][2][3]. I'll have a go at writing a stub about it shortly. Thryduulf (talk) 13:56, 4 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Stub written. I've written a stub article about the explosive, replacing the redirect, so this is no longer within the scope of RfD. Anyone is free to nominate it at AfD if they desire. Thryduulf (talk) 17:47, 4 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Created from a move, isn't recent so doesn't pass CSD. Maybe IAR here? buffbills7701 01:30, 4 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • No need to bring such redirects to RFD, just tag them with {{db-g6|rationale= it's a redirect left after a cross-namespace move}} (see WP:MFD's "Pages in the wrong namespace" sentence). Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 04:58, 4 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
