Delete as non-notable passengers "known" exclusively for flying on Korean Air Flight 801. They are implausible search terms as anyone searching for one of these people are either searching for someone else, or finding a dead end as they aren't mentioned in the main article. Also, per this discussion. Tavix |  Talk  00:19, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Two of these redirects, Ed States & Sten Molin, are names that are explicitly mentioned in the target article. This is at least the third time you have made a aircraft related nomination that incorrectly claimed none of the redirects were names mentioned in the article. -- JLaTondre (talk) 00:38, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Good catch. I only read the lead & passenger section and these two weren't on it. I am removing them from the list now. Tavix |  Talk  00:01, 5 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Iconic peopleHero[edit]

The result of the discussion was retarget to Cultural icon. Instead of adding a pile-on vote, I decided to be bold and carry out the move myself. Tavix |  Talk  02:21, 5 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Jmcnamera (talk · contribs) tagged this redirect for deletion, writing that "Iconic does not equal hero." I have no opinion on whether or not this redirect should stay, so I will remain neutral. Cunard (talk) 23:05, 3 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cunard, thanks for notifying me of this discussion.
Iconic people can be actors, sports, politicians, etc yet in most cases, they are not heros. The current link is to a generic article definining hero which seems incorrect. However, I can't see an article that would fit the definition without it being unverifiable and highly POV - though at least not in a political POV way in most cases ;-) I think this redirect should be deleted. Jmcnamera (talk) 23:45, 3 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
They are very close enough. There are "heroes" in movies, hence actors. The article hero would be most appropriate. An article on iconic people would overlap with heroes. Canadian (talk) 00:29, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Keep Canadian (talk) 00:29, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ronald McDonald and the Mayflower repair man are both iconic people, but not heroes. Not all actors play the role of a hero. Cartoon characters can be iconic such as Snoopy. Jmcnamera (talk) 01:41, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Retarget to Cultural icon. --UsaSatsui (talk) 03:45, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to Cultural icon - closest target possible. Robofish (talk) 06:39, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete or possibly retarget (no opinion as to where). I could add to Jmcnamera's list all day, starting with Hitler. Fried Gold (talk) 06:44, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
    • On second thought, if we do Another reason not to redirect Iconic people to something, it shouldn't be Hero: not only is it the case that not all icons are heroes, but not all heroes are icons. There are plenty of people who save others' lives without regard to their own safety, but never become famous beyond their own small social circle. Fried Gold (talk) 06:58, 2009 May 4
  • retarget to Cultural icon as this covers, albeit briefly, the search term. PaulJones (talk) 08:56, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Revert vandalismHelp:Reverting[edit]

The result of the discussion was retarget to Vandalism--Aervanath (talk) 16:57, 12 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Pointless cross-namespace redirect, and unlikely search term – Webster6Yo, So 14:47, 3 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Retarget to vandalism where removal of vandalism is shortly discussed. Wikipedia:Vandalism is also linked in this article so the link would still be usable while not being a cross-namespace redirect.--Lenticel (talk) 06:46, 6 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Re-target or delete: There's no need to redirect to the Help: namespace. Keeping the project separate from the content it produces is a Very Good Thing. --MZMcBride (talk) 08:23, 6 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • delete or retarget, per MZMcBride - Nabla (talk) 14:51, 10 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was Speedy closed as redundant to the move discussion. No action is required here. Gavia immer (talk) 18:29, 3 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Article The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah's Kingdom should redirect *to* The Watchtower per Wikipedia:Naming_conventions_(books)#Subtitles. This redirect is in the way. Jeffro77 (talk) 13:06, 3 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Added to Requested moves, but redirect is in the way of the new title.--Jeffro77 (talk) 13:33, 3 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Book: A Shadow on the GlassA Shadow on the Glass[edit]

The result of the discussion was Deleted. -- JLaTondre (talk) 13:14, 10 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Shall we have "book:" for every piece of literature? Seems out of form. —Anonymous DissidentTalk 08:55, 3 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete That form seems like a false namespace. Delete per nom and possibly as a CNR. Tavix |  Talk  00:20, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete Tavix (talk · contribs) makes a good point here. tempodivalse [☎] 21:10, 5 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete As a confusing redirect per Tavix. Besides, the appropriate format should be x (book).--Lenticel (talk) 09:04, 6 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Link and linkWikipedia:Linking[edit]

The result of the discussion was Delete. Lenticel (talk) 22:39, 9 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Delete - Odd cross-namespace redirect that I can't see being a widely-used search term. If nothing else, a better target would simply be to Link, but I don't think this would be a likely search term for that either. VegaDark (talk) 02:53, 3 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
