Finding a source[edit]
Tips for finding a source yourself[edit]
- Send a request to the author(s) of research papers for a copy of their paper by email.
- Check what sources are available to you in The Wikipedia Library – editors active for at least six months with over 500 edits, at least 10 of them in the last month, and with no active blocks have immediate access to the Wikipedia Library Bundle.
- Available databases in the bundle include: Gale, EBSCO, JSTOR, Oxford and ProQuest
- Consider applying for access to additional Wikipedia Library sources at The Wikipedia Library Card Platform.
- Additional databases include: Newspapers.com, NewspaperARCHIVE.com, Project MUSE, Taylor & Francis and much more.
- Search for periodical titles in the Wikipedia Library database index at The Wikipedia Library/A–Z.
- Check on Google Books, or your local library or national library may be able to obtain it through an interlibrary loan or subscription.
- Search Google Scholar for archived copies of journals in institutional repositories.
- Check whether your alma mater's library offers electronic document delivery services for alumni, if applicable.
- If the article is paywalled, a browser extension may bypass the paywall. Try Unpaywall for academic journals or Bypass Paywalls Clean (Firefox, Chrome) for news websites.
Note that sites like Library Genesis (LibGen) and Sci-Hub offer direct, free access to a large range of publications, but there are legal questions around their use and neither the Wikimedia Foundation nor the Wikipedia community endorses them.
Making a request[edit]
- A request may be an open question or you may ask for a specific journal, article or work.
- All kinds of sources are possible here: newspapers, magazine article, databases, encyclopedias, court decisions, laws, books, etc.
- We cannot perform full book copy requests due to copyright. Please ask for specific pages that relate to the article(s) you need them for.
- You may contact research helpers directly or make a request on this page.
- To receive email without disclosing your email address publicly, configure your email in Special:Preferences.
- Provide as much detail as possible: a full citation with author, title, publisher, and date or identifiers like DOI, ISBN, ISSN, PMID, OCLC, etc.
- Indicate which Wikipedia articles are being improved.
- Once a request has been fulfilled add the {{Resolved}} template.
- Filled requests are archived.
- Requests unfilled after three months will be archived.

Fulfilling a request[edit]
- Anyone may offer advice and fulfill requests.
- Indicate which part or parts of the request is being handled so others do not duplicate your work.
- Notify (mention) the requester using

- point to a pre-existing electronic document by giving its URL ( http://... )
- share scans of pages or documents using a file-sharing service, provided it is legal
- upload out of copyright works to Wikimedia Commons and/ or Wikisource (but be careful that this does not breach your own institution's policies)
- email a link or plain text to a requester using the Special:EmailUser feature but for attachments, you need to ask them to mail you first so you can reply.
Copyright tips:
- Respect copyrights and terms of services of any online services you use.
- Share content in a limited manner that is targeted at as few individuals as possible to achieve a specific improvement on Wikipedia. I'm looking for articles related to the "Top 25" college football poll they ran from their launch in 1982 until their takeover of the Coaches Poll in 1991.
Especially:
- announcement of the poll in August/September(?) 1982
- mentions of the trophy they awarded each year (and when the trophy was created)
- addition of CNN to the poll in 1983
- announcement of the USA Today takeover of the Coaches Poll in 1991.

- @PK-WIKI: USA Today has been archived by NewsBank from 1987. The database is widely available at US research university libraries, and through some US public libraries. Searches for expressions like "CNN Top 25" or "Coaches Poll" return a large number of results. Finding any about the history/structure/workings/etc. of the poll as opposed to merely mentioning the week's poll results or where a particular team placed, is tedious, and would best be done by someone passionate about the topic (i.e. not me). Looking for someone with access to NY public library for magazine access[edit]
Apparently the NY Public Library has access to a magazine (HM). I am looking to use the coverage here for an article ("Conspiracy No. 5"). I'm specifically looking for both the feature article "New Songs and Conspiracy Theories" and the magazine's review of the album. The article in question should be issue #67, the September/October edition of the magazine. A scan can apparently be requested online, but again, I don't have access to the NYPL as I don't live in New York State. Any assistance would be much appreciated. This is a request for articles about the manhua (Chinese comic) Oriental Heroes from the South China Morning Post. I am interested in seeing if the SCMP wrote about the series' English releases in the late 1980s and early 1990s (the covers of the English books state that they were distributed to the US, Canada, UK, and Australia). The earliest articles would call the comic by the title Little Rascals.

I searched far and wide, especially on archive.org, since it's in public domain as US Army publication. But found only volume 2, volume 4 and some 47 pages from volume 18 on scribd (here). 1947/48 edition of the Tank[edit]
For List of commanders of the British 7th Armoured Division and 7th Armoured Division (United Kingdom)
I enquired with Google, and they will not provide a full preview of The Tank and these issues. This version on Google Books has multiple issues, and I am not sure which ones these come from.
The first article is entitled "The Seventh Armoured Division" ("The 7th Armoured Division" on the contents page) and is between page 205–209. This one discusses the disbanding of the division and its wartime service. The articles require a good source on when the division disbanded in 1947/48, and hopefully this article will provide the date or period this occurred.
The second article, which may just be called "The Fifth", discusses the reformation of the division and verifies that its new commanding officer was Miller (I have been unable to verify his command via the usual sources). That information is on page 236, but I cannot tell what month or year they are referencing.
Can anyone access this journal and either: provide a copy of the relevant articles; verify and provide the information on the cited pages; or, update the above articles with information from the relevant issues?EnigmaMcmxc (talk) 16:55, 17 May 2023 (UTC)

Since then the content has been changed to state that the church was built around the 4th century, but the reference remains. Vasily Katanyan's Memoirs, sourcing an image[edit]

The photograph 1918 vmayakovsky-lbrik retouched.jpg is used in the article Lilya Brik. The metadata on Commons states that it was taken in 1918 and "appeared retouched in official Soviet publications" in the 1960s, but AFAICT this is insufficient to establish that the image is in the public domain in Russia or the United States. I am hoping that the book from which the photograph was sourced may have additional information. Therefore, if the photograph appears on page 128 but is described in neighboring pages, I request those pages as well.
