Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests
(Redirected from Wikipedia:RMT)
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.

the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.
Technical requests[edit]
Uncontroversial technical requests[edit]
- Tarring, West Sussex → West Tarring (currently a redirect back to Tarring, West Sussex) (move · discuss) – Correct name per OS and former parish, also avoids DAB per WP:NATURAL. Crouch, Swale (talk) 21:21, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
- Danabieke Bayikewuzi → Bayikewuzi Danabieke (currently a redirect back to Danabieke Bayikewuzi) (move · discuss) – That's the correct order, both pinyin and Kazakh transliteration in the article write it this way, plus his own instagram Sports2021 (talk) 01:32, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
- Template:Russian internal conflict detailed map → Template:2024 Belgorod incursion detailed map (move · discuss) – This map only shows the Belgorod region, not all of Russia, nor is there any real conflict outside of belgorod kursk, and maybe bryansk and vorozenh 68.132.201.101 (talk) 21:38, 25 March 2024 (UTC)
- Module:Russian internal conflict detailed map → Module:2024 Belgorod incursion detailed map (move · discuss) – This map only shows the Belgorod region, not all of Russia, nor is there any real conflict outside of belgorod kursk, and maybe bryansk and vorozenh 68.132.201.101 (talk) 21:38, 25 March 2024 (UTC)
- Socialist Unity Party → Socialist Unity Party (disambiguation) (currently a redirect back to Socialist Unity Party) (move · discuss) – The Socialist Unity Party of Germany is the clear WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for 'Socialist Unity Party', and as such the latter should be turned into a redirect pointing towards the former. The disambiguation page would simply be mentioned in a hatnote. Loytra (talk) 13:09, 26 March 2024 (UTC)
- Congregationalist church (currently a redirect to Congregational church) → Congregationalism (currently a redirect instead to Congregationalist polity) (move · discuss) – This article discusses the tradition broadly rather than a particular church or churches. Move follows wiki naming conventions, see Presbyterianism vs Presbyterian polity. {{{sig}}}
- George Warren Brown School of Social Work → Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis (move) – the name of the school has changed due to changes in the programs offered, refer to their website to see this new name listed: https://brownschool.wustl.edu/ Vicvicand (talk) 19:38, 26 March 2024 (UTC)
- Schlutzkrapfen → Mezzelune (currently a redirect back to Schlutzkrapfen) (move) – More common name. JackkBrown (talk) 18:36, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
- The article's current title is the result of one editor's declaration in February 2022 that the dish originated in a German-speaking territory of Italy, so the German name should be used. The current request is for the Italian title to be restored, but the requester offered no evidence on whether that really is more common, and none of the sources in the article address the matter. I suggest finding further evidence that one of these really is the original title of the dish, and if a reliable source confirms one over the other, then that will be the article title here. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 16:51, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
- Kyon Hwon → Kyŏn Hwŏn (currently a redirect back to Kyon Hwon) (move · discuss) – WP:NCKO does not prohibit the use of diacritics in article titles about people; a close reading of the policy tells that the restriction about not using diacritics in article titles is actually specifically for places. See talk page of NCKO; we discuss this nuance on there. toobigtokale (talk) 02:12, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
- Wang Sing-nyom → Wang Sing-nyŏm (currently a redirect back to Wang Sing-nyom) (move · discuss) – Diacritics for Korean can be in article title; should match what's done in the body. See Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (Korean); we discuss the nuance. Currently the diacritic restriction (soon to be removed) only applies to place names, not other things. toobigtokale (talk) 08:22, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
- Itala (disambiguation) → Itala (currently a redirect back to Itala (disambiguation)) (move · discuss) – Itala is a redirect to this disambiguation page. The dab page should be at the base title. A7V2 (talk) 00:11, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
Requests to revert undiscussed moves[edit]
- Yampil, Vinnytsia Oblast → Yampil (move · discuss) – Old undiscussed move not necessarily in accordance with WP:PRIMARY RadioactiveBoulevardier (talk) 18:13, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
- Yampil → Yampil (disambiguation) (currently a redirect back to Yampil) (move · discuss) – see previous RadioactiveBoulevardier (talk) 18:13, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
- @RadioactiveBoulevardier can you find a Diff (see Help:Diff § Internal links) to the old move? I think this might need to be discussed? microbiologyMarcus [petri dish·growths] 14:46, 28 March 2024 (UTC)

- She'll Be Coming 'Round the Mountain → She'll Be Coming Round the Mountain (currently a redirect back to She'll Be Coming 'Round the Mountain) (move · discuss) – The apostrophe preceding the word "round" is not needed. Zacwill (talk) 22:08, 25 March 2024 (UTC)
- Only one source cited in the article has the song name in its title, and it uses "Around". The apostrophe seems needed to indicate the omission of the "A" at the beginning of that word. The Carl Sandburg source uses "Comin' Round", which also has an apostrophe, although in a different place. — BarrelProof (talk) 00:26, 26 March 2024 (UTC)

- Fribourg railway station → Fribourg/Freiburg railway station (currently a redirect back to Fribourg railway station) (move · discuss) – use of the official naming of this station because Fribourg is a bilingual city Swiss512 (talk) 17:05, 22 March 2024 (UTC)
- It seems highly unlikely to me that this dual name is really the common name - people probably call it one or the other, not both. * Pppery * it has begun... 15:42, 24 March 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for your reply. It seems the name Fribourg/Freiburg is used by the different railways operators that stop at this station.
- Here are some examples:

- Other articles have the station names in the two languages like : Murten/Morat railway station Sierre/Siders railway station and Biel/Bienne railway station. Therefore I think the article name should be changed. Swiss512 (talk) 18:26, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
- Emmasofia → Psynapse (currently a redirect instead to List of Inhumans) (move · discuss) – The organization changed its name. —Of the universe (say hello) 01:06, 19 March 2024 (UTC)
- Do you have any sources indicating this change? We need reliable sources that are independent of the subject which use the new name in the body text, ideally. You can check WP:NAMECHANGES for more info on what to look for. ASUKITE 15:33, 20 March 2024 (UTC)
- "Psynapse was originally known as EmmaSofia but recently changed its name" (Blossom Analysis). Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 04:53, 21 March 2024 (UTC)
- There aren't a huge number of independent sources about this organisation, and those that I can see seem to be mostly news articles written at the time it was set up in 2015. For example [1][2][3]. The sources in the article generally don't mention it as well. As such, I'm not convinced it even meets WP:GNG, and even if it does, the WP:NAMECHANGES bar isn't met, as no secondary sources use the new name. As a final point, the name Psynapse currently points to a Marvel character, and I think that might be at least as much of a contender for primary topic as the organisation. — Amakuru (talk) 07:48, 21 March 2024 (UTC)

- Is the natural disambiguator not the preferred article title? Given the article says He styled himself as I think its an appropriate location, or could at least be disputed. I think this might need a move discussion. microbiologyMarcus [petri dish·growths] 11:37, 25 March 2024 (UTC)
- British Canoeing (currently a redirect to Paddle UK) → Paddle UK (move · discuss) – British Canoeing has changed its name to Paddle UK Slightlyscared (talk) 22:44, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
- As usual, WP:NAMECHANGES evidence is required here. Are reliable sources routinely using the new name? "Paddle UK" sounds more like a trademark or gimmicky title than the actual name that's likely to be commonly used, but I could be wrong. — Amakuru (talk) 23:23, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
