Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct page if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."

  • To list a technical request: edit the Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:

    {{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=reason for move}}

    This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
  • If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
  • If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

Pageviews show the baseball (not basketball) player to have been the primary topic over the past 12 months, which obviates any legitimate recency concerns. (I'm the same IP as above). --2603:7000:2101:AA00:44F2:25FB:C6CD:BEDD (talk) 05:01, 21 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Apologies for the confusion. And yes, I stand byWP:RECENTISM still. The baseball player only receives a huge amount of the pageviews only recently (from 23 August 2023 onwards), before that baseball player and lacrosse player had similar average numbers of pageviews (yes, i am using Kyle_Harrison for Kyle Harrison (lacrosse) in the pageview analysis because that's where the page was). – robertsky (talk) 12:54, 21 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Cfls: While this is more concise, do you have evidence that this is its WP:COMMONNAME and that this is a WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for the term Yucai School (disambiguation), which you moved from Yucai School? My current inclination is to think that move should be reverted. SilverLocust 💬 02:37, 20 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I've reverted that dab page move. Also suggest the article should go back to some variant of "Yucai Middle School", with an appropriate disambiguator. Insofar as there is an English common name at all, it seems it might be that. The prior title before undiscussed moves was Number Seven Yucai Middle School.  — Amakuru (talk) 06:04, 20 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@8Dodo8: There was an RM with your exact request that was closed as no consensus, which makes this request not uncontroversial. This is a WP:PCM. If you wish to continue with your request, click the discuss link in your request to begin a formal WP:RM discussion. Once you've done that, or if you do not wish to continue, please remove your request. Thanks! – MaterialWorks 10:28, 20 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
There was edit-warring over the page's title as some users moved it to the Armenian name Drmbon and others to the Azerbaijani name Heyvalı. This is completely unrelated to that dispute. Disambiguation is not necessary. Super Dromaeosaurus (talk) 18:29, 21 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I agree that the proposed move would be sensible, but even so, I think a formal RM would be productive here; the title's had a history of move warring, but doesn't appear to have been formally discussed since 2011, so it could be useful to have a recent affirmative consensus to point to if the titling debate flares up again. @Zxcvbnm: This would be restoring a reverted undiscussed move, not reverting an undiscussed move. I would suggest waiting a while to see if the reverting editor responds at Talk:The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak#Capitalization of "through". They might change their mind about following official name rather than standard preposition styles. If not, either open an RM or revert to the original title The Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki, which is where it was until yesterday. SilverLocust 💬 10:33, 22 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Administrator needed[edit]

Moved to admin section, target page is salted. – MaterialWorks 23:21, 21 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Pinging ReaderofthePack as protecting admin: any objections? (The sourcing seems to be at least somewhat better than the deleted version.) Extraordinary Writ (talk) 23:49, 21 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
