The result of the discussion was Move to Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/News media. - The original page was moved in 2006 from Deletion sorting/Media to Deletion sorting/News to provide a more descriptive title.[1] Consensus is that action needs to be taken in view of BDD's conclusion that tagging an AfD debate using the title "news" is prejudicial in view of the identity of the WP:NOTNEWS content policy. The consistent description of the topic used in this MfD discussion is news media, which would include news media events. Moving to Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/News media addresses the stated goals of a neutral way, appropriate sorting, rename accordingly. -- Jreferee (talk) 13:29, 19 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I expressed concerns about this delsort at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Deletion sorting#News delsort, but I'll restate them here. Since Wikipedia is not a newspaper, I'm concerned that tagging an AfD debate as "news" is prejudicial. And lest you think I'm a fanatical inclusionist or something, let me just say it's quite the opposite. I think we have too many news-y articles and usually vote to delete them. I'm just not sure this delsort is a neutral way to deal with the issue. BDD (talk) 04:05, 9 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
