User:Xaosflux/UBX/User religion flying spaghetti monster not really[edit]

An inflammatory userbox that serves no encyclopedic purpose. Userboxes are meant to provide some basic information about users, not to attack specific people, belief systems, etc.--Anon3 17:54, 30 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Note: Anon3's only edits have been to nominate this userpage for deletion. xaosflux Talk 02:27, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - as a generalized form of personal attack, as per WP:NPA. Badbilltucker 18:01, 30 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep First of all this userbox is in userspace, which is far more liberal concerning "encyclopedic purpose" and NPOV that "official" Wikispace. Secondly, I fail to see where the personal attack lies - yes, the userbox is inherently humorous, but I fail to see how the statement "This user does not believe in Flying Spaghetti Monsterism, but agrees it is as likely as creationism." could be considered a personal attack - objectively seen it not even assigns the "likelyhood of creationism" or "likelyhood of FSMism" any value - a user might not believe in FSMism but think that that chance of it being true is quite high - exactly as high as (in his believe) the chance of creationism being true. CharonX/talk 18:12, 30 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep as above. Not only is this userbox intended to be humourous, but it does also provide some useful information about the editor - their stance towards theism. Hut 8.5 20:48, 30 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep This GUS'd box is in userspace, and decribes "...information about ... areas of ... interest, likes and dislikes," as referenced in the User page guideline. — xaosflux Talk 02:27, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep User namespace does not need to serve "encyclopaedic purpose." The userbox is neither inflamatory nor is it a personal attack, and any such assertion is ridiculous. It's a flying spaghetti monster. --NMChico24 02:36, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. Silly satire is not an "attack", and creationism is not a "person", so I fail to see how this could possibly be a personal attack. -Silence 03:54, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. A user's interests could not possibly be perceived as an attack on anyone or anything, it is merely a matter of expressing opinion. Since this is done on believer's userpage and nowhere else, to stamp it an "attack" is ludicrous. -TydeNet 04:59, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep bad nomination by an obvious sockpuppet. Stubbleboy 22:14, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Possibly, though I'll extend enough good faith that the nominator just doesn't like this box. If nothing else this MFD can get filed in the WP:GUS test cases department. — xaosflux Talk 02:28, 2 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep Not a personal attack, humorous, and not supposed to be encyclopedic. Gdo01 06:19, 2 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Speedy keep Nominated by an account with zero other edits. The only supporter voted minutes afterwards. Suspect sockpuppetry. -- kenb215 17:26, 2 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
