1989 (Taylor Swift album)[edit]

1989 is the fifth studio album by American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift. It was released on October 27, 2014, and spawned seven singles. The album's synth-pop production marks a departure from Swift's previous country pop sound. It sold over 10 million copies worldwide, and three of its singles reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100.

Having worked on this topic since late 2019, I believe this topic now satisfies FT criteria. The topic includes 10 articles in total, without omitting anything under its scope, with 5 of them recognized as featured, and the rest recognized as good articles. -- (talk) 02:49, 24 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • I do not think tribute albums are part of the scope for albums of a certain artist. Adams's album is a complete makeover of Swift's, so I think there is little for the two albums to have in common... (talk) 03:26, 24 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Just trying to be sure, because someone can get Adams album to GA status and create "Wikipedia:Featured topic candidates/1989 (Ryan Adams album)", because everything but The 1989 World Tour would be part of that FTC as well. And for example here, it was determined that all the related articles had to be included, regardless of the compiled songs being unrelated to the album. • I also find it weird that if 1989 (Ryan Adams album) is (presumably) GA, it can be a subtopic for this topic, and much of that topic would be derived from this topic, which is rather confusing. In my opinion, since this topic is specifically about the Taylor Swift album, the Ryan Adams album would not constitute an "obvious gap" as said at the FT criteria. • Just to be clear, I'm not opposing the FTC, I support it; the articles are OK, they are constantly watched, they are pretty static and everything seems to be archived. It's just that if people consider Adams album to be part of this, it should be here. Otherwise, it's good to go. (CC) Tbhotch 20:11, 24 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • I understand. Let us wait for further comments, (talk) 02:26, 25 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Since there seems to be a consensus forming below that the Adams's album is not necessary for this topic, I support this for promotion. Wonderful work as I know that you have put a lot of time and energy into these articles. Aoba47 (talk) 02:15, 31 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment: I was asked to participate in this discussion on [talk page], and I am honestly uncertain about whether or not 1989 (Ryan Adams album) belongs in this topic or not. I can see and understand arguments for both sides so I will wait to vote until more experienced editors discuss this further. Thank you to Tbhotch for bring this up as I think it is a good question that should be cleared up first. Aoba47 (talk) 00:57, 25 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support: These articles are all in great shape and I don't believe another artist's album belongs here. --K. Peake 09:39, 26 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support: All the articles are in high quality and Adams' album shouldn't be included, in my opinion, as Swift wasn't involved.DMT biscuit (talk) 19:37, 29 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Closed with a consensus to promote to Featured Topic - Both users who introduced concerns on the absence 1989 (Ryan Adams album) did not oppose on such basis and looked for further comment. Such comment came as two supports by editors in the topic area, as such a consensus to pass seems appropriate. Aza24 (talk) 02:09, 18 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
