  1. Shyamal (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) I work mainly on biology topics and help others at WP:RX. Shyamal (talk) 06:22, 18 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  2. Maky (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) I'm an active editor writing mostly in Wikipedia:WikiProject Primates, and particularly about strepsirrhines. My writings fall under "Health & Life Sciences". I have over 25 FAs to my name, and ScienceDirect is one of the biggest pay walls I encounter when doing my research. I can't stress how helpful this resource would be to me. – Maky « talk » 03:18, 18 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  3. Jfdwolff (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) I have been a contributor to health content since 2004, with 6 featured articles and 24 good articles relevant to medicine. I am vice-chair of the WikiProject Med Foundation. Journal access would greatly improve my work in developing verifiable content in the area of internal medicine (particularly the emergencies). I imagine it is in the Publisher's interest to support the use of its publications as sources on Wikipedia. JFW | T@lk 07:04, 19 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  4. Graham Beards (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email)) I have been active on Wikipedia for nearly eight years. I contribute mainly to virology articles (four FAs). I am a Featured Article Coordinator on the English Wikipedia. Access to Health and Life Sciences would be helpful to my virology articles and for fact checking others. 5. kashmiri (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) I manage a patient organisation in one of orphan diseases and share a lot of research knowledge here on Wikipedia for the benefit of other patients. As our organisation is involved in research, I have edited numerous medicine-related articles, primarily in the area of neuromuscular disorders, both on en-wiki and (much less) pl-wiki. Access to ScienceDirect in Health and Life Sciences would help me to further update Wikipedia with medicine's new discoveries – properly sourced. 6. Sarahj2107 (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email): This would be very helpful for creating, expanding and copyediting science articles. There have been many times I have seen a journal article on Elsevier that would have helped my work here, but was unable to access the full article. However, I feel that priority for this stream should probably mostly be given to medical editors. I don't have alumnus access to ScienceDirect. 8. MeegsC (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) I've been on English Wikipedia since 2007, working mostly in the biological sciences — primarily with various bird articles. FA articles are flight feather and pelican (the latter a group effort), GA articles are red warbler, red-throated loon and black catbird. I've also written most of beak and bird nest. Lately, I've been spending many hours working my way through the massive backlog of articles in the WP:BIRD cleanup listing; access to Elsevier's journals would definitely help with that task, as many of these contain {{cn}} tags. Please note that I already have a JSTOR account, if that affects my chances here. I'm most interested in the "Health and Life Sciences" stream. MeegsC (talk) 23:33, 17 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I'm an active member of WikiProject Medicine and a founder member and director of WikiProject Med Foundation. 10. Jacek555 (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) I work on biology (zoology) topics at pl:wiki, mainly with rodents articles. Among them many FA: Koszatniczka (O. degus), Świstak tatrzański (Marmota marmota), Bóbr europejski (beaver), Chomik europejski (european hamster), but also Diugoń (Dugong Dugon), and many GA. During my work I need many articles published by Elsevier. So I would like to use the „Health & Life Sciences” stream. Jacek555 (talk) 07:42, 18 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Wiki CRUK John (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) (also Johnbod (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) - over 135000 edits, several FAs) Applying for Health & Life Sciences content. Rather amazingly, despite working as Wikipedian in Residence at Cancer Research UK, it is actually rather tricky for me to access Elsevier medical material, which I often use. I will also lose any CRUK access from mid-February when my term ends. I have done a lot of work on health articles, mainly related to cancer, and intend to keep editing in this area. For example Pancreatic cancer is currently at FAC. Wiki CRUK John (talk) 11:06, 18 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I submit to this stream just to show how necessary and useful is their increasing. My account is active since 2006 (45500 edits). I write articles about plant species in Polish Wiki (nearly 50 FA i GA e.g.: Padus serotina, Urtica dioica, Juniperus communis). Kenraiz (talk) 11:47, 19 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I have collaborated in either the creation or expansion of 5 GAs, and 1 FA - American paddlefish. Access to such a valuable resource would cut the time spent on each article in half which would increase my productivity. I appreciate the opportunity of being considered as a candidate. Thank you. Everymorning (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) I edit lots of science and medicine-related articles, so this would be useful in accessing more information than can be obtained solely from the abstracts of scientific papers. I believe I have the required edits and subject matter, Health and Life Sciences would be very useful for articles in Wikipedia as I currently do 1. 22. Amqui (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) I edit in many different fields including chemistry and biology. As such, I'd be interested in having access to the "Physical Sciences" package, but access to the "Health & Life Sciences" package would also be useful as a second choice if first one isn't available. My main project is French Wikipedia, but I can read technical English as I work in engineering in English. I usually try to add sources on English Wikipedia articles on the articles that I develop on French Wikipedia. I have wrote a dozen Good Articles on French Wikipedia. 23. Formerly 98 (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email). I've made about 4200 edits to English Wikipedia this year, almost entirely to medical articles. I've mostly rewritten the Quinolone, Levofloxacin, Ciprofloxacin, and Pharmaceutical industry articles (partly under a previous username Alfred Bertheim), and have made major contributions to most of the antipsychotic and SSRI related articles. It would be good to have access to more journals in the health area as I am mostly reliant on the 10% or so of articles that are free. Formerly 98 (talk) 16:13, 8 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  25. Maralia (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email)) I edit a lot of medical articles, primarily about diseases and disorders, and could really use access to more medical journals. 28. Paulscrawl (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) Active over 11 years, RefDesk regular, Reviewer, Research Coordinator for Wikipedia Library and already approved for Cochrane and BMJ access, both excellent for Evidence Based Medicine. Currently editing Cochrane Collaboration and, soon, unbiased History sections of related EBM articles. Elsevier Health Sciences would help balance former (often primary) sources and might help provide requested countervailing views to what some perceive as EBM orthodoxy, per others' comments on EBM Talk page. Would also share access as needed via Resource Exchange. Thanks again. -- Paulscrawl (talk) 01:49, 16 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  33. Matthew Ferguson (talk). Normally if I want such a paywalled source bad enough I would request it on a wp forum, with mixed success. This access would be very useful for me and likely I would utilize it on a near daily basis. I mostly improve and generate content around the topics of dentistry, oral medicine and oral and maxillofacial pathology (the only active editor in this field as far as I'm aware).
@Matthew Ferguson 57: Which of the three resources are you requesting access to? Cheers, TLSuda (talk) 22:03, 5 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@TLSuda: Health & Life Sciences sounds most relevant for me, although Social & Behavioral Sciences would be nice too, I feel another editor may benefit and utilize the latter more than me. Kind regards, Matthew Ferguson (talk) 20:23, 30 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  35. Timetraveler3.14 (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) I tend to do expanding, updating, and verifying in physics, pharmacology, and medicine. I like to make sure statements based on older citations are still valid once more timely review articles are available. I also enjoy creating content on new molecules once they've advanced enough to be given drug names and not just codes. Access to Health & Life Sciences would be most useful. Thanks. 36. Dcs002 (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) (I just noticed - I misspelled my own username. I just corrected it now.) I would like a Health and Life Sciences account. I have been active in fits and starts in current events, music, and for a few months last year I was pretty active in AfD discussions, of any sort. I have spent more time working out issues in disputes than building articles. But I have also made some contributions to articles with academic, medical, and neuroscientific content. I have shied away from editing biomedical topics because I no longer have journal access since I left academia a few years back, and I just don't feel comfortable citing PubMed abstracts the way people do. I have specific training in interpreting academic research in the biosciences that others might not have, having done real neuroscience research myself and earning a PhD. Thanks for considering me! TLSuda, Step 3 (Waiting for partners to activate accounts) says that, after I register online with Google, it can take as long as 2 weeks to get the email with my account information. @Nikkimaria: hello. I haven't been mailed after filling in the form in March. 2 weeks have passed, so I have a question: should I fill in the same form you mailed me again or maybe should I ask for a new form? Thank you. --Helixitta (t.) 17:29, 19 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Your form response was received and submitted to Elsevier last week, so we're just waiting on them to create a login for you - if you haven't received anything by the end of the week let me know and I will follow up with them. 17:57, 19 April 2016 (UTC)

Unfortunately, I am at an institution in provincial New Zealand with no journal subscriptions; nor does the local public library have access. Elsevier journals would be extremely useful. —Giantflightlessbirds (talk) 08:35, 19 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  49. Mikael Häggström (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) I would like access to Elsevier Health & Life Sciences. I was 88th in 2014 and 134th in 2015 of users with most edit counts in medical articles. The hospital where I currently work does not provide journal access, so access to ScienceDirect is critical for me in order to scrutinize what's beyond the abstracts of articles.

Social & Behavioral Sciences[edit]

  1. WeijiBaikeBianji (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) I'm active in updating articles on human intelligence and genetics and note that many of those articles cite journals published by Elsevier, which I would like to take care to verify and cite with full templates linking to accurate bibliographic information for each article. I am just beginning to use individual Wikipedia Library accounts to access sources after formerly using remote online library access through a Wikipedian in Residence project that has now wrapped up my phase of participation. I will of course be very happy to follow all of Elsevier's requirements for how this resource is to be used and attributed by Wikipedians. I have brought one article to good article status and would like to bring up several more Wikipedia articles to good article or featured article status, and access to Elsevier sources will help greatly for that task in articles on the topics I edit most. Thanks for the resource opportunity. -- WeijiBaikeBianji (talk, how I edit) 01:59, 18 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
While waiting for the account review process to proceed, I have updated a user bibliography of sources for editing articles on human intelligence and a user bibliography of sources for editing articles on human genetics and anthropology with the appropriate templates for ScienceDirect articles I was able to verify through my previous access. -- WeijiBaikeBianji (talk, how I edit) 00:16, 2 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  10. John Shandy` (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) I'm interested in a Social & Behavioral Sciences account due to its inclusion of about ~80 economics/finance journals. I'm an active contributor to WikiProjects Finance, Economics, and Globalization. I have previously cited a number of journal articles obtained through ScienceDirect, but no longer have access to it. During my Wikipedia tenure, I have avidly used and cited ScienceDirect sources on a multitude of articles, most of which I have substantively improved such that they have achieved Good article status. My most recent GA article (qualified Dec. 26, 2014) is Global financial system, which cites at least 2 articles obtained through ScienceDirect. One of my other GA articles, Interest rate parity cites at least 10 articles obtained through ScienceDirect. Elsevier's ScienceDirect is an unmatched database for finance/economics journal articles, and I would greatly benefit from new access to it. John Shandy`talk 03:39, 9 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I also edit biology/medicine articles and have a chemistry schooling (I work in insurance reviewing medical information). Researching articles on here and on the French wikipedia helps both here and with my job. By their nature, these are difficult areas to corral without extensive use of supporting references. I regularly encounter citations to ScienceDirect journals in the course of my research but don't have ready access to the articles themselves. My PhD was in inorganic chemistry. I have been active on English Wikipedia for over 7 years, and am a member of the chemistry, chemicals and elements projects, one of a small number of active editors with a primary interest in inorganic chemistry. I edit inorganic chemicals or general chemistry articles, and have created 70 articles (most recently the general chemistry article Pauling's principle of electroneutrality). Other edits are additions of content to existing articles, typically reactions structures and chemical bonding. I am an electrical engineer and write mostly in that field, but occassionaly stray into biology and medicine, especially when there is an electrical science aspect to a subject. 23. daqu (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) I've been editing for close to 10 years, above all mathematics articles (I'm a Ph.D. research mathematician without a current affiliation), but many other topics as well. I have greatly benefited from having access to Elsevier journals in the past via institutional affiliation up through June 2013, but I currently have no access through any source. ScienceDirect access now would be a tremendous boon for editing WIkipedia articles as well as for conducting my own mathematics research.

  26. Fuhghettaboutit (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) I am a regular contributor, with about 87,000 edits (including deleted). I write on a variety of subjects (though lately I've been working on a variety of bird articles, and am hoping the content will include articles on particular species): I've had 10 articles, predominantly written by me, achieve good status and 3 have been promoted as featured articles – with a few in the pipeline. I often use research access to help others with their writing efforts here, as well as to check sources for verification. I also spend quite a bit of time checking claimed and suspected copyright violations, which requires access to a diversity of sources.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 00:46, 18 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  28. Gorthian (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) I edit all over the place, but my core subjects are in geology, so I would like access to the Physical Sciences section. I've been editing for years (more than 9,000 edits), but go in fits and spurts. I do some work on content, but mostly I do gnoming work. Lately, that includes lots of verifying references and hunting down citations. I don't have access to journals normally, so having access through here would greatly enhance my contributions. Thank you!

Expansion[edit]

  1. Marco Ciaramella (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) Hallo, I would like to apply for "Health & Life Sciences" access for 1 year. My contributions are mostly in History of Technology and Science, including also the biographies related to this general topic. I created a lot of new pages, mostly in italian, but I love to add referencies to the already-existing pages also. I am active in Wikipedia since 2005, covering italian/german/english wikpedia (in Germany I go regularly to the local group meetings). I am currently working on some themes relating Computer Linguistics (on this topic, I peer-reviewed a paper but currently having no access to Elsevier), History of Computing and Telecomunication and their applications in real life (they are a lot!) from an historical point of view. I took a course at the University about History of Technology under professor Vittorio Marchis in Turin, receiving the highest mark. The requested list can fully cover all these topics and would be a really big help. Thank you, best Marco Ciaramella (talk) 21:39, 4 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
