Automatic, Supervised, or Manual: Auto
Programming language(s): AWB
Source code available: WP:AWB
Function overview: Remove or replace the top ~30 invalid parameters in {{infobox company}}
Links to relevant discussions (where appropriate): Template talk:Infobox company#"intl" parameter
Edit period(s): one time run
Estimated number of pages affected: 4663-9881 pages (see function details below)
Namespace(s): Article
Exclusion compliant (Yes/No): Yes
Function details: The parameter |intl=
was removed from {{infobox company}} recently, and in discussion it was requested that it, and other invalid parameters, be removed from use. There are ~30 parameters with 20+ uses that are not valid or do not require a context-dependent fix (e.g. |location_state=
needs to either be added or modified to be location_city or location_country). The bot would be removing (list 1) or replacing (list 2) these parameters in order to reduce the tracking category size by at minimum 4663 pages (the number of instances of |intl=
) and at most 9881 (if each bad param is on a unique page).

Discussion[edit]
- Comment If you could implement some of User:Headbomb/sandbox#Proposed_logic at the same time, that would be great. Not a requirement though. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 01:36, 11 August 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]
- With that said,
Approved for trial (50 edits). Please provide a link to the relevant contributions and/or diffs when the trial is complete., try to have one of each type, if possible. Also I'd suggest making everything case-insensitive, so if you run into
|ceo=
rather than|CEO=
, you'd still pick that up. This would also be best run with WP:GENFIXES enabled, I feel. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 01:39, 11 August 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]- I am not familiar with BRFA, so maybe this suggestion has already been discussed. We'll see.
- Can the bot make this change to the instances: change all parameter names into lowercase (except
|ISIN=
,|ISIN2=
). That would catch about 39 errors at least (|Founder, Founded, Founders=
). Most others changes are irrelevant (|General Manager=
), so this could be done as trivial (not made by itself). - DePiep (talk) 09:01, 11 August 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]
- With that said,
- Done: replaced all uppercase/lowercase errors (
|Founder=
->|founder=
). 317 articles edited using AWB. List2 affected (not needed any more): Predecessor → predecessor; Industry → industry; Revenue → revenue; Homepage → homepage. - DePiep (talk) 11:33, 11 August 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply] - Done: fixed errors with underscore (
|[Aa]rea served=
->|area_served=
) and plurals (|product=
->|products=
). 258 articles edited using AWB. List2 effects: done|area served=
,|product=
. - Tracking category down from ~11.600 to 11.262 now. The other edits proposed in the lists are still useful and preferably done by bot not AWB (if only for their numbers). After Sept 1, the TD report will show the refreshed list for possibly more AWB edits. -DePiep (talk) 15:13, 11 August 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Trial complete. - Edits. Note that I have struck out
|language=
and|former type=
because of context issues. Primefac (talk) 17:16, 11 August 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]
- Tracking Category:Pages using infobox company with unsupported parameters says 11,224 now. -DePiep (talk) 22:12, 11 August 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]
- {{OperatorAssistanceNeeded}} See the note at Wikipedia:Bots/Requests_for_approval/PrimeBOT_29#PrimeBOT_29 - can removal of inline blank | |'s be handled at the same time? — xaosflux Talk 15:18, 18 August 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]
