Hello, Vlatkoto. The pictures you uploaded are beautiful, but are you sure they meet Wikipedia's policies on using things that are copyrighted? Those policies are important because they help us comply with laws. If you have any questions, you can ask me, and if I don't know the answer I will find someone who can help. Image copyright problem with Image:Archangel_Gabriel_.JPG

Thanks for uploading Image:Archangel_Gabriel_.JPG. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. You can get help on image copyright tagging from Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. --OrphanBot 05:06, 20 January 2006 (UTC)

Copyright violation

You uploaded eurominority.jpg, which is a copy of the image on this page: http://www.eurominority.org/version/fra/projects-shop-nation-whole.asp . As it was clearly used without the permission of the copyright owner, it has now been deleted from Wikipedia. Please be careful about what you upload - you need to be sure (and you should be able to prove) that the image is OK to use on Wikipedia. -- ChrisO 20:13, 20 January 2006 (UTC)

You also uploaded Monastery of the Holy Archangel Michael.jpg which, as you indicated, is from the website of the Macedonian Orthodox Church: http://mpc.org.mk/English/ Especially since it has a watermark across it, it is unlikely to be usable under the GFDL. Although I don't like to delete such a nice image, it looks like I will have to. Please be very careful about copyright on images you upload. Again, if you have questions, please ask. Your message

Hello, Vlatkoto. Thank you for the message on my talk page. I am not an expert on that part of the world, having never been there. Most of my editing for articles in Southeastern Europe consists of improving the wording, making the English more precise or more natural, and sometimes trying to make articles have a more nuetral point of view. There have not been many editors from the RoM here on the English language Wikipedia, so I am glad to welcome another. Do you have a digital camera? Can you add pictures that are not from websites? (Most pictures from websites give us copyright problems--we have to be careful about that.) I hope you like it here. Jonathunder 13:55, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

Concerning Ancient Macedonians

Hi Vlatkotko. If I ever missed of respect to you then accept my apologies; I would never do intentionally such a thing to a fellow-lover of The Lord of the Rings ;-) As for Ancient Macedonians, what I objected to was that it appeared from your edit that the slavic tribes had merged with a distinct Macedonian ethnicity in the 6th century; this is not accepted by any non-macedonian scholars, because it is accepted that the ancient Macedonian language started vanishing in the 4th century BC, substituted by koiné Greek; a quite common thing, that happened also to many Anatolian and other Balcanic people. Scholars so believe that Macedonians had been thoroughly hellenized by when the Slavs arrived, and (very probably) merged with them. As for the other objection, if I get it right that you're speaking of the introduction summary of the article, you mustn't make confusion between Bulgars and Bulgarians; the first are Turkish-speaking, the second Slavic-speaking, and it is told by Theophanes and Nicephorus, and confirmed by the Oxford Byzantine Dictionary, that a group of Bulgars settled early in Macedonia, Pelagonia maybe, but I would have to control. I hope to have awnered your problems. Aldux 15:56, 26 January 2006 (UTC)

Regarding your edit in the Greece article

I reverted this edit you made in the Greece article. I understand that this is your point of view, and I respect that although as a Greek I disagree with it, but in wikipedia we do our best for WP:NPOV. And it is POVish to insert such a phrase in the leading section of an article about a country. Please refrain from doing such narrow minded edits.

Regarding your edit to the Macedonia disambiguation

Welcome!

Hello Vlatkoto/Archive 1, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, some of your edits have not conformed to Wikipedia's NPOV policy, and have been reverted. There's a great page about the NPOV policy that has tips on how to effectively write about disparate points of view without compromising the NPOV status of the article as a whole. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the Wikipedia Boot Camp, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome!  Jkelly 22:57, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

Rewriting Articles

Vlatko, in response to your message on my talk page ... I think that's a great idea! In fact, I even started something similar on my older user page (which has since been deleted). I had rewritten articles such as "Macedonian Orthodox Church" and "Macedonians (ethnic group)" ... do you think a portal-type setup would be appropriate for indexing the articles? I don't think it would be appropriate to have them on subpages (of user pages) as you suggested. Maybe we could ask some administrators for their views and suggestions on how to go about starting a project like this? I think it would also be useful if we included such users as Macedonia, Bomac, FlavrSavr etc. Please get back to me on my talk page, thanks. --Daniel Tanevski talk 14:04, 4 February 2006 (UTC)

I agree with this idea, and as you can see, I have some minor articles on my user page similar to what you want to do. Feel free to tell me or ask me anything concerning this new progect. - Macedonia

Your userpage was briefly delisted by a rogue admin

This user believes that only articles need reflect a NPOV, and that displaying political, religious, or other beliefs using userboxes and user categories should not be banned.

You have a userbox Template:User UN which links your userpage to United Nations Wikipedians. There is currently a movement to ban userboxes from Wikipedia which are shared and which create Lists of Wikipedians. Certain admins have taken it upon themselves to preemptively sabotage and/or delete such categories and template. Here is the incident report which reported damage to yours, in which hundreds of userpages were delinked from categories without the users' knowledge. They have been stopped, barely, and the damage reverted— for now.

There is a Wikipedia:Userbox policy poll, which if passed, will make required by policy the damage done to categories and templates such as User UN/United Nations Wikipedians. If you do not want this to happen, I urge you to vote Oppose. in the poll. Support is currently running at about 66%, and your vote could make the difference. It is said to require 75%-80% to be deemed reflective of consensus.

Thank you,

Republic of Macedonia in the Article Improvement Drive

Hey Vlatkoto, I recently nominated the Republic of Macedonia article as a candidate for the Article Improvement Drive. The drive is a great way to get articles up to Featured Article Status. I hope you will take the time to visit the AID and vote for Republic of Macedonia! Below is the comment I wrote when I nominated the article. --Caponer 03:47, 5 March 2006 (UTC)

"The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia makes an excellent candidate for the Article Improvement Drive because it is very close to reaching featured article status in both content and layout. I feel as if we should always be focusing on articles that only require minor adjustments and additions in the AID instead of those that need complete and total reworking, and this is one that will only require a week to make the small adjustments required. Macedonia deserves a spotlight since it is poised to become a member state of the European Union and is a state that we will be hearing much more about in the news in the years to come. Its location adjacent to Albania and Kosovo will also make it a player in the upcoming debate over Kosovo's independence movement. I just feel it will be a fabulous choice and I hope you will think so, too. --Caponer 17:40, 2 March 2006 (UTC)"

Irredentism

Hi, you made this edit, I'm afraid it's not true, the Republic of Macedonia's government makes no land claims (whether it used to is another question). You are confusing the MacSlav nationalist mythology with official government policy. I hope you don't mind, but I have taken the liberty of rewording it to reflect the actual situation. Hello! Given ongoing discussions and recent edit warring – and with the hope of resolving this issue – you might be interested in a poll currently underway to decide the rendition of the lead for the Republic of Macedonia article. Please weigh in! E Pluribus Anthony | talk | 01:04, 6 April 2006 (UTC)

Hello! I hope you're well and thanks for your note. You will observe that the RoM article is currently locked because various editors recently decided to forego a prior consensual edit (which I partially crafted and have supported in the poll) and change the introduction. Excessive discussions preceded the vote and continue (for reasons unknown) throughout it. I think the poll is the only way to choose a mutually agreeable introduction – one option only – that will allow us to move forward and enhance the article.
And if it means anything, I do not understand the positioning and insistence of the other Greek editors either: my father is Greek, but I live in the Great White North. As for your proposal to introduce a similar debate with the Greece article, I think you'll have a hell of a time doing so but perhaps this should be considered. Anyhow, I hope this helps. Hi. I saw that you uploaded this map:

I presume that this map shows new municipalities in Macedonia. Do you perhaps can tell me some internet address where I can find similar map but with the names of the municipalities shown in it? Also, where can I find data from the last Macedonian census that show which ethnic group is in majority in which municipality? PANONIAN (talk) 12:20, 6 April 2006 (UTC)

License tagging for Image:Veles flag.JPG

Thanks for uploading Image:Veles flag.JPG. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Greek Macedonians

They are the native Greek-speakers of Macedonia who formed a majority in the villets of Thessaloniki and Monastiri during the Ottoman occupation of the region. This of course is sourced in the respective talk page. Typically they are regarded as the ancestors of the ancient Macedonians. Miskin 01:42, 29 April 2006 (UTC)

As Greece generally hides the presence of a Slavic minority in its Norther-most region, similary FYR Macedonia hides the historical presence of a Greek majority in what they call "Aegean macedonia". Most of Macedonian Slavs are convinced that no Greek has ever inhabited Macedonia prior to 1913. This is of course to neutral historians a completely silly conviction. It's hard to make some wikipedia editors realise this. Miskin 01:47, 29 April 2006 (UTC)

And why are you so sure that the writen above is the truth, or its just your reality conformism cosed by the learned "Greek" nationalism ?

Some tips on copyright

Hi! No image you find on some website is actually free-licensed unless expliticly specified, i.e. all images are copyrighted and unsuitable for Wikipedia if it does not say otherwise on the website. Please don't upload images you "found on Google" as they will soon be deleted, and don't put {{GFDL}} by just assuming the license is GFDL, but having no evidence for it. About Albanian language

I haven't said that Albanian is prevalent in the RoM (yet!). But it is an official language and it is spoken by 35% of the population. Don't deny a simple reality. I also wonder if you'd remove "Lerin" from the Florina article, according to your reasoning. And Macedonian is not even an official language in Greece! --   Avg    20:15, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but the Ohrid Agreement is clear. Albanian is now an official language. Your complaints should go to your leaders that signed the Ohrid Agreement, not to me.--   Avg    23:09, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

The Rainbow Party, the only body offering recognition of existance to a Macedonian minority, received 3,000 votes in the latest elections. Therefore, we can assume that the number of people who are and want to be Macedonians is 3,000. Telex 00:08, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

To answer your question, in Greece live about 3 million Macedonians. This is the population of the peripheries of East, Central and West Macedonia. Now if perhaps you meant those who stole the name and claim that it is theirs, that is your compatriots, there are about 3,000, which is 1 thousandth of the total population of Greek Macedonia.--   Avg    00:28, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

Political affiliation is not directly indicative of nationalist or ethnic feeling. - FrancisTyers 01:17, 7 May 2006 (UTC)
There is no evidence that people exist with a "Macedonian" ethnic feeling in Greece any more than there is for people with Japanese ethnic feeling in Greece. The only evidence is the political party and its 3,000 supporters. Telex 01:20, 7 May 2006 (UTC)
If Vlatkoto had asked me how many Slavic speakers are in Greece, I wouldn't say 3000, but perhaps ten times that. Of course there are Slavic speakers in Greece. Slavic speakers <> "Macedonians" though. If they were feeling oppressed and wanted to express their frustration, voting for the only party that recognises such an issue and advocates against it would be a minimum. For me, the fact that they didn't vote, perhaps meant they didn't feel that way in the first place. --   Avg    01:26, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

Language

See for example Ohrid Agreement. Don't you want Albanian to be co-official? - FrancisTyers 10:28, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

The Agreement met the Albanian demands with regard to establishing the official
status of the Albanian language. Every other language other than Macedonian – which
remains the main official language, to be used for example in foreign relations – that is
spoken by more than 20 per cent of the population will henceforth be an official
language on the central level as well as in communities where more than 20 per cent
of the population speak that other official language. In fact, only Albanian fulfils this
condition. Languages other than Macedonian which are spoken by at least 20 per cent
of the inhabitants of a municipality will, however, also serve as an official language in
local self government. Furthermore, the government will henceforth have to provide
university education for language communities which speak another official language
than Macedonian. This way the protracted ‘Albanian university’ issue, which has been
a cornerstone of Albanian political activism in Macedonia since the early 1990s,
should finally be put to rest.

From http://www.ecmi.de/jemie/download/Focus1-2002Brunnbauer.pdf

It says that Albanian is official on a central level. It also says that Macedonian is the main official language. I don't understand what your problem is with the Albanian language... - FrancisTyers 10:38, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

Hello! Thanks for your note. I recently created the table at and added details to the above article and realised that another article existed (the one you created).

I'd be happy to merge the two, but my main stumbling block is the map. I want to create or retrofit a map for Macedonia similar to those that I've created for Canada and Norway: essentially, use of different colours for different regions and using the two-letter HASC codes (MK.xx) to name the municipalities instead of numbers as you've done (which I can't quite follow). While I've been able to find and extract maps of the pre-2004 borders (which require much finessing), I've had difficulty finding a map that I can adapt of the current municipal borders. Can you provide me with a high-resolution blank version of the map you created? If you wish, you can e-mail it to me.

As well, I regret if recent edits regarding the official nature of Albanian in Macedonia were problematic for you, but I was merely adding verifiable information, since corroborated somewhat, from a reputable publication.

Thoughts? Thanks! E Pluribus Anthony | talk | 10:47, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

Thanks! I tried to incorporate your contributions (e.g., from the table) into the article I've recently developed. I've yet to include notes of urban/rural municipalities: where are these distinguished? As well, would you be able to provide me with a precise link to a map (either as an image or in a PDF) on the website you provided? I actually can't read Macedonian (!), but I can somewhat muddle through using comparisons and have an interest. :)
I'm open to suggestions about moving forward. I recently created but haven't yet used this template (which currently links to the article I've recently enhanced, not yours) from yours, which you should be able to include in any municipality article instead of adding cumbersome code. For ease, I also alphabetised the municipalities. Perhaps we should also develop a dedicated infobox template for the municipalities too? E Pluribus Anthony | talk | 11:29, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
As well, should all the municipality articles be entitled:
  • Foo municipality (status quo)
  • Foo Municipality
  • Foo (municipality) -- though more cumbersome, perhaps best for disambiguating municipalities from their centers
  • something else?
Thanks! E Pluribus Anthony | talk | 11:47, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

UN etc...

I appreciate your concern, but our personal preferences must be kept out - mine included, of course. According to UN resolutioin 817 [2]and [3], the UN received the Republic of Macedonia on 7 April 1993 under the name, ‘Former Yugolav Republic of Macedonia’. The map is offensive in against the constitution of the Republic of Macedonia. I hope you agree with the tenents of the consitution my friend. Thanks. Politis 12:42, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

I also followed the debate over the status of the Makedoniski language in ROM but I did not interfere because I thought you were arguing your case and I appreciate that attitude, it was an attitude that shows that wer are here to inform, not to provoke. Politis 13:02, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

Municipalities of the Republic of Macedonia

Ciao! --Bukkia 18:42, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

Ho incontrato qualche problema durante la traduzione dei Municipi. Un altro utente ha detto di tradurre Општина con Comune, invece di Municipio. Come mi consigli? Ciao e grazie mille! Bukkia 12:27, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

P.S: Se vuoi scrivimi in inglese o in italiano come preferisci capisco bene anche l'inglese. Bukkia 12:28, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

3RR Violation

Hi, I've blocked you for violating the 3RR on the above article. The usual conditions apply. If you feel it is unjust, make an note here, I'll be watching your talk page. - FrancisTyers 19:24, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

Ok, I intend to broke the rule until the flag stays there constantly. The flag is the official one, sources are provided, What more? Thay can remove it i will turn it, cose they are wrong. I expect you to support me, cose as an administrator you you "support " that wikipedia is here to inform not to please somene's "ideas". They refer to authors right, but actualy do not understand a word what that means. Should I remove the albanian from the macedonian infobox, I don't like to be there, but iit is not the reality. Thanx---Vlatko 12:41, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
You did not cite any sources - we were begging you to, but you didn't. Until the municipality website (or some other official website) shows it, it is unsourced. Sopotnica also uses the Vergina Sun, but it appears on their website, so no one is touching it. --Telex 22:45, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
Every flag on www.vexilla-mundi.com is copyrighted, more prove than that you need not, the officisal site is not finished, but the flag is ofiicial. What is this here, aren't you boore of this game?---Vlatko 12:51, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
Vexilla mundi is based on contributions - how do I know you didn't make that flag and send them it? --Telex 22:54, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
I did not. By the way on every flag on vexilla is a copyright mark. and I do not know how the site works, you also have other sites to look at. Actualy I provided this source too [5] here is also ponted the flag.--->>><<< 01:14, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

My advice is to take it to the dispute resolution process. - FrancisTyers 22:27, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

I agree.--->>><<< 12:29, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

Pirin Macedonia and unification

Nice image. What about the 400 thousand Macedonians in Greece though? Have you given up on the southward expansion?  /FunkyFly.talk_   16:09, 26 May 2006 (UTC)

No, never.--->>><<< 18:40, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
Excellent, just making sure.  /FunkyFly.talk_   16:46, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
400 thousand? Yeah right - there are more like 3,000 Macedonians in Greece (probably even less). Assuming there are as you claim there are, the ethnic composition of the Republic of Macedonia would be 47% Greeks, 34% Macedonians, 11% Albanians and 8% Bulgarians. In other words, it would be a Greek run state. Enjoy - "Aegean" Macedonia is full of Greeks now ;-) --Telex 16:47, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
Hahaha. well, start counting than you might pass the number of 1200000. (Full of Greeks) It is not even now, be sure in that. But you can still dream your dream, enjoy.--->>><<< 18:50, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
"Dream your dream" - how more ironic can that sound than from a person claiming territories from neighboring countries. :)  /FunkyFly.talk_   17:03, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
The percentages you point out are for 280 thousand Macedonians I believe. I went with 400 thousand, which I thought was probably the maximum claim by various nationalists. But Vlatko's estimate dwafs that.  /FunkyFly.talk_   16:51, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
(to FunkyFly) Not really, have you read mkwiki ;-) (to Vlatko) Actually, there are no Macedonian Slavs in Greece, only Greek Macedonians. That's why "Aegean" Macedonia is part of Greece ;-) --Telex 16:53, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
By the way did you know, this is official, a Republican textbook from 1995 claimed 4.5 million Macedonians total in the entire world.  /FunkyFly.talk_   16:53, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
Well then why does our article claim 1.7 million - 2 million? Of course, it's well known that they could "estimate" the whole world as being Macedonian (including their Bulgarian identifying ancestors) ;-) --Telex 16:57, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
I'm glad you know now how many macedonians are there. By the way you made your point here Telex, exelent. Youll find more about if you start thinking.--->>><<< 19:00, 26 May 2006 (UTC)

Life in Bulgaria

By the way Vlatko, you still did not respond to my question from yesterday. There seems to be something bothering you about the fact that you are in Bulgaria. Is it that you are not doing well in school? Is it that you can't speak the language very well? Or is it that you feel too oppressed by local "propaganda" and can't relate to anyone? Or just you found out that you hate the people because of their prejudice and discrimination against you? Those are all valid questions, because there are many cases of discrimination against international students in the world, so I'm trying to separate purely Bulgarian issues from common problems.  /FunkyFly.talk_   17:22, 26 May 2006 (UTC)

==Nothing bothers me, and I noticed not a question, realy. Plese make a link.(About my life) I feel no need to explain nothing, but if you want mine opinion >> You alredy have shown that you have no life even as Bulgarian in Bulgaria. If you want more of mine psichoanalisis be free to ask.--->>><<< 19:32, 26 May 2006 (UTC)

Haha, well well now. A seasoned soldier. Oh well, case dismissed then.  /FunkyFly.talk_   17:35, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
Actually, there must be a nice way of life in Bulgaria. That's why 60,000 Macedonians decided they were Bulgarians and adopted Bulgarian citizenship and not the other way around. --Telex 17:37, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
Please find something better to do, you make no point here, exept advancing in your authism. If you have somethin concrete to say, do it, But chating like ......, not on mine usr page. Thanx.--->>><<< 19:40, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
