Hi. I have left messages on the other main contributors to this article, asking for their opinion on this. As I said in the discussion, for all intents and purposes in this game it is Aeris. Its a mistranslation but in terms of this particular game, it is yet to be corrected. The MoS on consistency is a grey area on this. It, to me, is like something made by Victoria Beckham before she became Beckham (Adams), you don't retroactively credit as Beckham. If you would like to call in administrators you are more than welcome, I will accept whatever consensus/admins say. chocobogamer mine 00:03, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

There does need to be a final word on it.It would have helped if Square had just stuck with the mistranslation as they have with other titles and poor translations of sentences.. As far as I'm concerned, if the Characters article only refers to the main FF7 title, it should be more like with Bartz in FF5 as mentioned earlier (it says something like (Butz in the Japanese)) so maybe the Characters article should say Aeris (mistranslated - Aerith in all other titles) chocobogamer mine 00:13, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

Hi Tintor, I have to agree with chocobogamer - long-term consensus (and guidelines) have been to leave it as Aeris for the FF7 game article (and ONLY for the FF7 game article). I don't happen to have a link to the particular discussion, but I know looking through various talk archives (including the one for FF7 itself) the discussion has occurred several times. I believe the consensus has stemmed from arguments similar to what chocobogamer has mentioned - it SHOULD have been Aerith originally, but wasn't translated well. Thus, the main character's name, in her individual page, and in all the other media, where it was corrected, is Aerith. However, for the purposes of the GAME article, she's called Aeris, as that's what the original US PS release called her. (Not sure precisely what primary WP guidelines to rely on, but I'll see if I can take a look at that later.) In the meantime, there's this, not quite as on-target, but commenting on translation, and another re-hash of the first discussion - although I think the PC copy of the game I later acquired DID use "Aerith" in the FF7 talk archives. (I haven't checked the WP:FF talk for discussion, as I'm not sure where, if anywhere, it would be.) The last link points out that the changes to Aeris were made for internal consistency, as well as accuracy with the most widely released version(s) (PSX for US and most to all of Europe) of the game (the comment about quotes from the script). This was done in preparation for trying to get the article to Featured Article status. umrguy 42 18:53, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

I think having the discussion on FF7 is ok, just a couple more quick points - from what I can see, the FF7 talk links I provided are the only discussion I've found on-wiki. The character names page I linked originally was devised by the former WikiProject Final Fantasy (now WP:SquareEnix), and the distinction was in place from the very beginning. As far as Good/Featured Article, etc., all I can tell you is that FF7 got to Featured Article consistently using Aeris. There's been the past discussion of being consistent throughout the encyclopedia, and that idea has in the past been rejected in favor of being consistent within the article, with relevant explanations of the difference in the FF7 article and in the main Aerith article (and pretty much limited to those two, to prevent tedious repetition of it in articles where it'd be a complete side-point). umrguy 42 19:46, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

I tend to ignore Viz when it comes to grammar like this and stick with whatever seems best. I personally would not capitalize the Bleach terms and I would not use "arrancars" (or perhaps "visoreds"). Believe me this manga is probably the most violent Shounen manga ever created... well Fullmetal Alchemist is violent too but these are both very similar and very dramatic/sad! Section title

I see you changed the "Storyline" title to "In videogames", probably to match the "Appearances in other media" title. My problem with your change is that what's described in that section is the character's canon storyline which should be followed by whatever other media he appears in, thus making it not only about videogames. --uKER (talk) 18:12, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

Re: Sub-Zero(s)'(s) origins

To begin, I do not have any information to corroborate that Sub-Zero's mother was American and that any info. in the first line is canonical. As for Sub-Zero's mother and father to have had a daughter, it would have to have included Frost, which means this information would have been released after MKDA was released. And no record of information from the MK1, 2, UMK3, nor MKT booklets to the bios of Sub-Zero from MK1 to now, mention that he has ever lived in the United States or that his father was a secret operative in the US. (And I don't think the US is even mentioned in name in any of the Mortal Kombat games.) Simply put, I think that first paragraph except for: "The name "Sub-Zero" has been given to two different characters in the Mortal Kombat universe. Sharing a similar appearance and set of abilities, the two incarnations of Sub-Zero are brothers, with the younger one coming into the storyline after the older one gets killed." is entirely WP:Fancruft.

However, I will keep an open-mind and an open schedule to try and find information that indeed does corroborate the point that they lived in the US. It could be in the video bio. from Deception or some thing like the MK3 Official Kollector's Book or the Mortal Kombat Magazine mentioned in MK secrets: [[1]], one of the official comic books, or a bio. from MKM:SZ.

As for the portion that Shujinko teamed up with Sub-Zero, I don't think the other was aware of the other's plans against Onaga because the only time Shujinko met Sub-Zero was when Sub-Zero taught Shujinko his fighting style. They were just coincidentially fighting for the same cause which was to defeat the Dragon King.

Why did you take that out? I know that page was an archive, but I'm trying to prove to you about Namekians and Piccolo Jr. Piccolo Jr. is not his full name. He doesn't have a last name. He's just Piccolo Jr. the fifth and final nephew of Kami, the fifth and final son of King Piccolo, and the fourth and final brother of Cymbal, Drum, Piano, and Tambourine. He's not King Piccolo reincarnated, because first, he can't have his own child be his reincarnation. That's stupid. Cymbal, Drum, Piano, and Tambourine would then call him dad and father, which he's not. And second, reincarnations always have their past self's same facial structure, stature, and voice. Piccolo Jr. doesn't. Kami and his evil twin brother King Piccolo were voiced by Takeshi Aono in the Japanese Dub, while Toshio Furukawa voices Piccolo Jr. in the Japanese Dub. In-universe/Fancruft from Mortal Kombat series

Here's my rendition of third paragraph:

In Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, the sorcerers Quan Chi and Shang Tsung join forces to conquer the realms and subsequently become the antagonists of Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance. By Mortal Kombat: Deception, after several fights, the sorcerers emerge victorious having killed most of Earthrealms' warriors. Onaga, who had been freed by Reptile at the end of Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, had deceived Shujinko, the protagonist of Mortal Kombat: Deception, into searching for six pieces of Kamidogu, the source of Onaga's power. Onaga then confronted the alliance Raiden, Shang Tsung, and Quan Chi and thusly obtained Quan Chi's amulet, the final piece of his power, becoming the antagonist of Mortal Kombat Deception. Only a few warriors remained to combat against the Dragon King and his forces. Shujinko eventually triumphed over the Dragon King and removed his threat to the Mortal Kombat universe.

I found a scan of the table of contents here: [2] And it seems to cover chapters 281-291, though that's the same amount that's listed in the article now. Are you sure you didn't mean volume 27? If you did, I can't find a scan for that. Geg (talk) 16:53, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

The best I could find was that Shueisha's page lists it as 238 pages, while previous volumes had 210 or so. [3] Not sure how much that helps because based on what I can see from the number of pages and chapters for some of the other volumes, every chapter doesn't have the same amount of pages. I don't blame you for this. It is pretty confusing. Now, when I meant English, I mean the official spellings. The correct commonly misspelled names are:

Baraggan Luisenbarn. Tia Harribel. Nelliel Tu Oderschvank. Nnoitra Jiruga. Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez. Szayel Aporro Granz. Rudobōn. Sonído (An attack). Shawlong Kūfang. Di Roy Linker. Yylfordt Granz. Nakeem Greendina. Edrad Liones. Dordonii Alessandro Del Socacchio.

Also, "Arrancar" and "Hollow" should be capitilized

Viz, as I mentioned, romanizes incorrrectly. As I have mentioned before, the names you have listed are the incorrect variants. The Bleach Wiki and Wikipedia are both websites where information can be added and edited. Both websites strive to be as correct as they can. Previously mentioned, the Bleach Wiki has the correct Kubo names, unlike Wikipedia. Bear in mind that names like Grimmjow Jeagerjaques or Szayelaporro Grantz are incorrectly romanized names. 6 Spectacular Game Over Screens

I don't belive it exists as a webpage URL. I do own the magazine volume but however I do not own a scanner and my digital camera cannot produce a picture of a good enough quality for the text. I was able to produce a picture to prove that the text exists.

I see. Honestly, he's either majorly misinterpreting the Wikipuffery guideline or using it as an excuse to cut down on the article. All other GA FFVII articles have in-depth plots, as well as FA articles (such as Master Chief). In any case, the Sephiroth article has enough out of universe information for notability, and I agree that ridding of plot details makes an already confusing premise (to those who haven't really looked into it, at least) even more confusing. All that is left of the appearance section could basically be smacked into the lede because it's such a general overview. Hello, sorry for replying so late but I have read the discussion you gave and it makes sense. On another note is it possible for lists, like those episode lists, to state which episodes are filler? I was surprised to learn that there was no mention of what episodes are filler and which are hard line manga based. I think if this was mentioned in articles it would be a lot more informative. Um. I dont understand what youve said. If manga readers can tell which ones are filler just from the lead what about the people who just watch the anime? I myself watch the anime more so than read the manga and I want to know which ones are filler. I like to skip the filler usually because the storyline is boring or pointless. It's Sephiroth again

So, we talked about Sephiroth article and I, having assumed good faith, agreed to refrain from disputing your edits provided that you work on your wording. But seems to me that it has fallen on deaf ears!

Let us forget fancruft and puffery for now: Do you really think the Appearance section would make this article GA when it has spelling errors, grammar errors and diction errors? Mind you, it's Professor not Proffesor. And it's an experiment not a experiment. You assert that Proffesor Gast has created Sephiroth but your footnote mentions Hojo instead!

You have also written: "In order to do it, Sephiroth summons Meteor which would harm Gaia, and allow him to get close to Lifestream." Hey! What is this Gaia anyway? Or as the sentence suggests, I should ask: Who is Gaia? The game didn't have a Gaia anyway. (Oh, well, there was a Gaea's Cliff but Meteor was going towards Midgar not Gaea's Cliff.)

I'm going to assume that it was just a lapse of memory on your part that you didn't fixed the wording of that section. So, now that you are informed, would you please kindly resolve the mentioned issues and any similar issue not mentioned?

For grammar? No, that doesn't mean. But for fancruft and unsourced statements, yes, it does mean. Unsourced statements are challenged or deleted.

A quick hint: Enclose dates in {{date}} tags: It'll cause Wikipedia to display dates per Manual of Style and per user preferences dialog box {{date|2009-11-12}} and {{date|November 12, 2009}} both will appears as 12 November 2009 but the way you see them depends on your Wikipedia Preferences. Mania Entertainment

Hallo, who are Mania Entertainment - are they notable/reliable, either for Wikipedia or for video games specifically? I took this out when I wrote the in-depth reception owing to a lack of Wikipedia article on them, and a Wiki search showing it had been used as a resource for some manga articles, thinking it not particularly notable (Geregere has insisted that sites such as RPGFan and RPG Site are not notable, so I would question why Mania has any particular notability - we ought to be consistent in our approach here). I just noticed it before you posted. Looks pretty good. The development section is a little sparse, and I'd remove ref 4 from KH Ultimania. Other than that, it might be able to be able to make GA with more sourcing and polish. I'm still working on Lara Croft, so I'm not sure how much free time I'll have. I'll see about giving it a copy edit when you finish the article.

Short answer is the edit is not bad.
I can't find the page, but I believe there's a Wikipedia essay about the merits of using redirects over exact links to article sections. Basically it boils down to personal preference. I'm sorry to bother you but I see that you reverted an edit by Zepp900 on Johnny Cage's page about his Deadly Alliance ending and I agree with that revert.

As I said on the Edit summary, there's nothing that proves that’s actually her... if there is then where’s the source for that? Like the "images" of the other characters like Scorpion on the movie poster, isn't that most likely just a look-a-like? I mean how and why would her character (who already has a job in the military) end up being an actress in a film? That doesn’t make any sense. Also, if his film states that he won the MK tournament single handily, then what we see is made-up and none of the actually characters are around him. Mitchell - You are correct that failure to discuss and reverting three or more times is a violation of 3RR which is blockable. However blocks are preventative, and i believe that the promise in the unblock request will guarantee that no further damage will be done. Though not directly related, i would also point out that there is a rather large number of IP editors on that article who never edited before, and all of them make the same edit which makes assuming good faith difficult. Equally Tintor2 seems to be a productive editor with an - till now - clean block log. Therefor i would be in favor of an unblock, on the condition that no more reverts occur and that this issue is discussed on the talk page. I believe that allowing Tintor's participation in the talk page discussion is more productive then keeping him blocked.

Tintor2 - As i said before the condition for my support is that no more reverts take place until this issue is resolved on the talk page. This block may seem harsh, but the 3RR rule is intended to prevent a never-ending cycle of reverts where editors achieve little more then creating a feud (Which is a bad omen for any sensible discussion). I would also point out that consensus is worth more then being the "top version" since consensus gives you a clear reason to revert. If the questionable content is re-added just ignore it until the discussion is finalized; However, if consensus rules that there was a marriage you should also follow this. On another note: The 3RR violation details that no more then 3 reverts may be done within 24 hours (Though this is not a license to do this three times without risking a block.) The reason why I first removed it was because there was no source to back up such info. When I removed the info about the songs, I didn't know the article was redirected. However, I think such specific info about the rerun's new song could be better in the main list of episodes as there is some info about how many songs were used in the anime. Some tables like that are used in several films series's articles for the same reason each times. We don't need much information between actors and their characters. Like IMDB, in any pages, there is an actor and his character, that's it, that's all. It's fun for a series of films to present which actor appeared in which films, and which actor replacing him for the next film...

When you said that "actors should be explained in their respective characters articles/section", that mean that the table I've done must be in the proper article (in the article about MK Characters). Right? (except if you said "A table takes up too much weight and should not be used")

Romanization for words of English origin

On the MOS:JP talk page, a discussion has been started about including or not including romanizations for words of English origin, such as Fainaru Fantajī in Final Fantasy (ファイナルファンタジー, Fainaru Fantajī) (for the sake of simplicity, I called this case "words of English origin", more information on semantics here).

Over the course of a month, it has become apparent that both the parties proposing to include or not include those romanizations cannot be convinced by the arguments or guidelines brought up by the other side. Therefore, a compromise is trying to be found that will satisfy both parties. One suggestion on a compromise has been given already, but it has not found unanimous agreement, so additional compromises are encouraged to be suggested.

One universally accepted point was to bring more users from the affected projects in to help achieve consensus, and you were one of those selected in the process.

You should give feedback on the first suggested compromise and are highly encouraged to provide other solutions.

This is not a vote on including or excluding such romanizations.

I don't think I've ever used the site before in my article writing, but per Jappalang's assessment they are considered reliable by many other reliable sources. In regard to author names, we use what is available. I know some older GameSpy pages use pseudonyms/user names instead of real names. Aizen Sousuke

You do a lot of work on the anime articles, right? Unfortunately, Aizen's article has gotten a little out of hand with the plot summary. While I think that the recent chapters have a lot of important info, the blow-by-blow chapter-by-chapter type thing is heavily discouraged on Wikipedia. That shouldn't take much longer. All we need to probably mention is a brief summary of Gin's attempted betrayal and of Aizen's fight with Ichigo, mentioning he transforms multiple times, but leaving out the unnecessary commentary for sure. The best thing would be for you to add the page you want edited to the Guild of Copy Editors' [list]; that way, you'll get attention from one of many editors like myself that like that sort of work. Everything needs to be updated on the Naruto Uzumaki article

As it stands, it is very confusing for new readers. If someone read it in the way you are presenting, and had no prior knowledge of Naruto-having not read Naruto or watched the anime, they'd think Jiraiya died before Naruto completed the Rasenshuriken. They'd think Naruto defeated Pain before defeating Kakuzu. Something that is far less accurate and is below the standards on Wikipedia. Naruto's new powers in his new form are outlined in chapter 505 where he senses Kisame's evil emotions, makes Yamato's wood totems grow into full trees, and finally his blitz of Kisame made it seem like he has a Space-Time Ninjutsu now, and a single punch was able to injure Kisame who was hiding in Samehada.--SuperSaiyaMan (talk) 18:59, 11 October 2010 (UTC)
