Your submission at Articles for creation[edit]

Thank you for your recent submission to Articles for Creation. Your article submission has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. Please view your submission to see the comments left by the reviewer. You are welcome to edit the submission to address the issues raised, and resubmit once you feel they have been resolved.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Hugh Morgan (Apothecary) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. The link will take you to the talk page, where you can explain why the article should be kept. If you have any questions about this or need help with editing, you can ask at the Help desk.

We really hope you'll stick around to help make Wikipedia better! Thank you, - SDPatrolBot (talk) 07:17, 6 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Cannot find anything helpful in manual of style. Would like to see definitive policy for titles e.g. where using (name) MBE displays full title in tooltip, but is using redirect in link. I don't like to see (name) MBE which doesn't use redirect in link, but doesn't expand to full title in Richard_Bruce_Bradford

I posted an answer at the Teahouse, aware that I may not have done the best possible job answering your question. I am uncertain that tooltip is the best solution to your need, but am unsure exactly what you want. Do you expect that a reader will get some sort of brief explanation of what "MBE" means while hovering the cursor over the link, without clicking? I apologize if I have misunderstood you. Prasophyllum petilum[edit]

Hello Richard,

Interesting edits to Prasophyllum petilum and Hall Cemetery. I'm not sure it's correct to say that the type specimen of P. petilum was found in that cemetery though. I have the journal (Australian Orchid Research) in front of me and it has: "Typus: Australian Capital Territory; Hall, 5 November 1988, D.L. Jones 3431 and M.A.Clements (holo CBG, iso CBG)". No mention of a cemetery. Since the orchid's description, it has been collected in many places as noted in "Distribution and habitat", including Hall. There is no mention in any of the references I can find that the type of P. petilum was collected in Hall cemetery. I hope you will not object if I revert your change to the orchid article. Please correct me if you can find a reliable reference. (And yes, I know I'm nit-picking! Rare orchids are sometimes found in cemeteries - Prasophyllum taphanyx, the graveside leek orchid is a good example.) Gderrin (talk) 09:22, 24 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again. I got your message and yep, you are perfectly correct. I have reverted my revert. (Embarassing. You would think I would read my own references more carefully.) The orchid was first collected in the Hall cemetery in 1988 and described by Jones in 1991. Grovelling apologies. Gderrin (talk) 12:31, 24 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Henry Sutton[edit]

On the basis that you have made ever so many useful amendments and valuable additions to the article of Henry Sutton, and, in particular, given that it seems that you have access to one or more important sources that are not available to me, I was wondering if you could supply any more details about his two wives (births, deaths), and his five sons (names, births, deaths)? – I think that one of the three sons from his first marriage was dead at the time that Sutton died in 1912. Best to you, Lindsay658 (talk) 06:24, 8 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, your last move -- moving the "external media" template to the "external links" section at the bottom of the article -- seems to have been driven by a misunderstood belief that the "external media" template's function is to embellish the "external links" section of an article. The Wikipedia policy w.r.t. its placement within the article, rather than in the "external links" section, is expressed at: Template:External_media#Where_to_use. Suggest that you re-place it somewhere near to where it was. Some examples of this special template in use: Maud Jeffries; Norman Hetherington. Best, Lindsay658 (talk) 10:46, 13 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yes you are right I misunderstood the function, just assumed they were another type of external link, But I see the external media can be broken up, named and used against different sections - I think this may be better fit than one large chunk? regards Richard Bruce Bradford (talk) 15:00, 13 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I'm very, very busy at the moment, and unable to attend to Wikipedia matters. The article looks ever so much better now, thanks to your recent work. What you've done, in breaking it up into relevant sections is, I believe, one of the major reasons for having the special template in the first place.
Also, a word of explanation: when I set the "stuff" up in the template, it would not work properly. It would not make the url 'disappear from sight' on the articles page (obviously, you've had better luck than I did). That's why I included each of the urls in such a clumsy way ("Retrieved from [https so-and-so] on 5 December 2018"); simply so that the connection between the each item and the corresponding link would be 'preserved' until someone with greater skill came along to fix up whatever it was that I had omitted to do in the first place. Lindsay658 (talk) 22:19, 14 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Wondering if the "A. Sutton" in [1] is a typo, and whether it ought to be "H. Sutton". Lindsay658 (talk) 22:27, 15 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Lindsay658 would be referring to his son Arthur Sutton who was also very involved in motoring. regards.

Hello, Richard Bruce Bradford

Thank you for creating Australian Dancing Society.

User:Doomsdayer520, while examining this page as a part of our page curation process, had the following comments:

Thank you for this new article, but other editors have noted that it needs more reliable sources. A Wikipedia article cannot survive on self-published sources in which the group describes itself, and instead reliable media coverage is needed. If this matter is not addressed, future editors could call for the article to be deleted.

Hamilton Gallery moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Hamilton Gallery, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

The references for this article do not meet general notability.

More sources are needed. Individual sources must be evaluated separately and independently of each other and meet the four criteria below to determine if a source qualifies towards establishing notability.

  1. Contain significant coverage addressing the subject of the article directly and in depth.
  2. Be completely independent of the article subject.
  3. Meet the standard for being a reliable source.
  4. Be a secondary source; primary and tertiary sources do not count towards establishing notability.
  5. Interviews are Primary sources. See WP:PRIMARY which details the limited permitted usage of primary sources.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Whiteguru}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Wayleggo requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.nzonscreen.com/title/wayleggo-1965. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. The page Wikipedia:Carry Me Back (film) has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done under section R3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it was a recently created redirect from an implausible typo or misnomer, or other unlikely search term.

Please do not recreate the material without addressing these concerns, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If you think this page should not have been deleted for this reason, you may contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you may open a discussion at Wikipedia:Deletion Review. Hello, Richard Bruce Bradford

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username EchidnaLives, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I've proposed an article that you started, Mark II (film), for deletion because it meets one or more of our deletion criteria, and I don't think that it is suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. The particular issue can be found in the notice that is now visible at the top of the article.

If you wish to contest the deletion:

  1. Edit the page
  2. Remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. Click the Publish changes button.

If you object to the article's deletion, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the issues raised in the deletion notice. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|EchidnaLives}}. And remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. Thanks!

(Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)

echidnaLives - talk - edits 04:48, 13 January 2023 (UTC) @EchidnaLives: 1. "No reviews in a BEFORE" doesn't make any sense, please explain what this is supposed to mean. 2.The Review reference The New Zealand Herald is a newspaper not a database site which you seem to have overlooked. WP:BEFORE is a list of checks to perform before nominating something for deletion. Also one source is obviously good, but usually not enough to prove notability. If you disagree with the tagging, you can improve the article and remove the tag, but it may still be taken to AfD, or could be draftifed (as I did with the other one above). Notice

The article Ararat General Cemetery has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Does not appear to meet relevant notability guidelines.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist.
