Gallipoli Campaign[edit]

I have checked Erikson's Ordered to Die: A History of the Ottoman Army in the First World War, he does definitely describe the Ottoman victory in the Dardanelles as "great". How do you think this battle would have remained in the minds of all nations involved if the outcome had no impact? The Allied failure was certainly a turning point in the Middle Eastern theatre of the war.

The heady exuberance which had resulted from the great victory at Gallipoli was gone and was replaced by a gathering sense of despair.

Yes, I added this point to the article but now it is little bit changed. I don't think the Gallipoli victory had no impact, or isn't "great", but I think it lacks the decisiveness to be described as such, and principally, Erickson didn't use it to describe in this way. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Peninsular War, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Toro and Avila (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi there, and thanks for showing an interest in the Picture of the Day process. Generally I've been the one to select the images since January, but this one looks fine (the age of the promotion is roughly correct, the blurb is written okay [although I've made it more neutral and in-line with standard MP formatting], and the template you've created at Template:POTD/2013-06-23 is correctly formatted [surprisingly an issue for some editors]). However, I'm concerned that you didn't complete the notification process. Part of selecting a featured picture is notifying the image's creator and/or nominator, as well as editors of the bolded article. I've completed that, but just a heads up in case you choose to contribute to POTD again. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:33, 6 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ops, that was my first POTD, thank you very much for the help. And be welcome to made any correction you judge necessary. Reiftyr (talk) 00:07, 7 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Battle of Cannae[edit]

Hi. Like you, I was taken aback by the recent IP editor's revision. Unlike you, I concluded (having studied it carefully) that the changes were mostly in expression, not substance; and they tended to reduce duplication and redundancy which has been a problem in the article. On the other hand, the IP editor overlooked some typos (eg, Pyrennes for Pyranees) and made a few slips of his own. I copyedited the lot in two stages, only to find that you had reverted my first lot (including the correction to Pyranees). If you feel any substance and references have been lost, I suggest you draw attention to them in detail on the Talk page rather than use the blanket-reversion again. Controversial moves[edit]

Could you please explain the rationale behind these moves: [1], [2], [3], [4] ? Your edit summaries are quite uninformative. --Omnipaedista (talk) 13:42, 29 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

'Copy edit' tags[edit]

Note that it is a good practice to indicate a reason—either on the talk page or in the edit summary—for placing such tags. Placing them around without giving a rationale isn't helpful. --Omnipaedista (talk) 14:12, 29 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
