I nominate Quinto Simmaco to be Editor of the Week. Although Quinto Simmaco (who goes by Symmachus) is a pretty new editor here, he's a great contributor. Although his edit count isn't the highest, he's a great helper on #wikipedia-en-help – he's incredibly clueful, smart, and is able to assist the helpee much better than most, and the several barnstars he has received on his talk page are a testament to that. Symmachus's physical, tangible contributions to Wikipedia itself are just a small part of his contributions; he's always a great person to ask to review or sanity-check something before posting it live, and he has a strong understanding of Wikipedia policy. Symmachus is one of the unsung heroes of the encyclopedia. Working with new editors requires a gentle but stern hand. Teaching "proper" WP protocol is not an easy task.

One of the benefits of facilitating the Eddy award is that I get to meet quality editors like you. Too many veteran editors spend too much time at the various drama-laden pages of Wikipedia. They rarely take the time to see the hard working editors that fly under the radar of contention and strife and they begin to look at WP as one argument after another. @Buster7:, apologies for the late reply. I meant to do this way back when, but had forgotten about it unfortunately. I figure better late than never though, no? It's also possible that we may have actually met over on the IRC channels in passing, if you frequent any of them. I used to be quite active there in helping new editors with the AfC process and with general policy / editing guideline questions. Quinto. Thank you so much for joining WER and the Editor of the Week program. As time goes on I'll share a little of the history of the project and the program and we can discuss the importance of "pats on the back". Briefly, Administrator @Dennis Brown: started WER in January of 2013, @Go Phightins!: and I joined soon after and the Editor of the Week award followed soon after that . Sometime on Sunday next I'll give out the next award. Who it is will show up on the Project page and the Editor of the Week page. Then, one of the simplest ways of working toward retaining an editor happens; various editors stop by and offer congratulations. Some are editors that know the awardee, but some are strangers. @Shirt58: that's fine. I nominated it for CSD because the subject doesn't appear to be notable according to GNG or the other relevant notability guidelines so far as I can tell (and as other users have apparently noted), and I personally didn't read any such assertion. Since he probably fails the criterion to pass an AfD, I may possibly decide to take it to there later. Dunno. However, as I said (and reading over the article again), I still don't see what would qualify as an assertion of notability. Would you mind pointing it out for me? In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved.
