Great article![edit]

I hereby award to thee the Rotating Barnstar Award for thy most excellent Spira article

I hereby award to thee the Rotating Barnstar Award for thy most excellent Spira article. Out of all the Wikipedia articles I have viewed, Spira is truly my favorite. JarlaxleArtemis 03:22, 8 Mar 2005 (UTC)

I definitely think the pictures should be added next to their entries (as thumbnails of course). The painting of the Thunderplains is spectacular. JarlaxleArtemis 02:10, 15 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Thank you for uploading Image:The childe.jpg. Its copyright status is unclear, so it may have to be deleted. Please leave a note on the image page about the source of the image. Thank you. BrokenSegue 19:33, 20 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Hi. You uploaded Image:K2-big.jpg which I believe is based on the image now on Commons → Commons:Image:K2-big.jpg. Since that image was released under GFDL, I assume that your enhanced version is also released under GFDL? If so, I will also copy it to Commons. Thanks. RedWolf July 9, 2005 07:30 (UTC)

Improvement of Spira (using images)[edit]

Hi, great work on the Spira article, but could you edit your image files so they are placed in Category:Final Fantasy media? Just put [[Category:Final Fantasy media]] anywhere in the description. Cheers.. and the article is greatly improved. — CuaHL 08:16, 10 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I had JUST reminded myself to do that. I'll get right to it.PiccoloNamek 07:55, August 10, 2005 (UTC)

  • Ooops, sorry about my coding mishap earlier, and Spira could definately be FA soon. I'm thinking about starting a peer review within the WikiProject so we could start with that — CuaHL 08:16, 10 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Nice. I hope they like it. I'm sure most of them have seen it already, and there aren't any complaints on the improvement pages. At any rate, it certainly sets the standard for "Final Fantasy Locations" articles. The only thing I worry about is that some people might not like the fact that it includes a summary of the backstory. Personally, I think it's concise and accurate, and compliments the Final Fantasy X article (which includes a summary of the "frontstory") well.PiccoloNamek 09:23, August 10, 2005 (UTC)

Skull pictures[edit]

Could you please provide more detailed reference to the source of these pictures? The current discussions and reverts likely won't move any ahead otherwise. Pavel Vozenilek 00:53, 15 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. Please put the URL to the description of the image. Pavel Vozenilek 17:06, 15 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

My humblest apologies[edit]

Blaise-- I think we got of on the wrong foot, and for that I apologise. I understand what you are saying about photography and photoshop. My comment wasn't meant to be a slam on PS itself, but really everything that doctors photos. I don't have a problem with photoshopped pictures in general. I just don't think that photoshopped pictures should be called "great photos". There have been many, many unbelievably stunning photos that didn't have any doctoring, CG or otherwise. I'm sorry if what I said came off as a personal attack. I didn't mean to start a big fight. I was just commenting on the almost ironic state of photography. I hope I didn't offend you. See you around. --Lord Voldemort (Dark Mark) 13:25, 8 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there[edit]

Hello Piccolo

I want to apologise for the tone of my original comment on your hornet pic. I should have learned better by now than to make judgments or cast votes after getting home from the pub; I really didn't intend to be an arse, and I'll pay the penalty now by being embarrassed every time I see that I managed it nonetheless, at least for the next 12 days. Sorry

On another note, you mentioned having trouble brightening this morning's mantis without washing out the highlights and I can see on the new annoying image metadata tables you use PS CS2. I wondered whether you've tried using the Image > Adjustments > Shadow/Highlight filter for that? It was a new tool in CS1 I think that does something very clever with Levels.

I realise I'm offering a suggestion fairly inappropriately here because I know absolutely nothing about photography and you obviously know an awful lot, but from my experience in prepping online albums I've found I get a lot of positive feedback when I run people's photographs through this filter :-) It's not useful quite so often for printing images (where I think you need darker colours to make the print more vivid) but it does always seem to bring out lots of colour detail on computer screens. The default setting just reduces shadow without touching highlights, and that's normally enough to make things look better lit on screen. I used it on the Hajib pic currently under debate and it got the fawn pic through FPC a couple of weeks ago and here's a link to the effect on your wasp and mantis. Please don't be offended at my attempt if it's just that I have my monitor set wrong :-)

Anyway, I've waffled enough. Cheers for uploading excellent pics, I'm very envious of your talent ~ VeledanTalk + new 22:48, 25 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Pic of the day[edit]

Hi Piccolo,

Just to let you know that your photo Image:Photos-photos 1087592507 Energy Arc.jpg is up for Pic of the Day on the 1st October. As this will be a weekend, it will also appear on the Main Page. If you get a chance, you can correct and improve the associated caption at Wikipedia:Picture of the day/October 1, 2005. -- Solipsist 08:30, 28 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Question[edit]

Hi Piccolo,
Sorry for not being able to reply to your message before you decided to take the jump (School time :-( ) but I like the photo, and if it was mine I certainly would put it up as a candidate. The blur is a bit of a problem - maybe a little unharpening in Photoshop? Anyone great photo, and great photos. Keep up the good work! --Fir0002 12:27, 4 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Quick question for ya.[edit]

Piccolo, I wanted to drop you a line to ask if you'd be interested in voting on my admin candidacy. I've seen you a lot in voting on FP's and thought you might have a somewhat good or positive idea of me and what kind of work I do. I might have been wrong about the whole featured diagrams issue that came up, but figured you might still have a good view of my contributing otherwise. I'm kind of having a personal tiff with a certain user right now and would appreciate your vote if you feel i'm qualified enough. I also answered the usual questions at the bottom of my nomination form you can read if interested. I'd jut like to get the change to make wikipedia even better and I think this would allow me to do so. Just thoguht I'd see if you'd help me out with it. Thanks and I'll see you around the FP's I'm sure. --ScottyBoy900Q 23:33, 9 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

FFVI articles.[edit]

I request that you do not make attacks on a Wikipedia user. Thank you. - A Link to the Past (talk) 00:36, 15 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

You had no basis to claim that any single AfD I created on these FFVI characters is a bad faith AfD. On what basis do you believe that I am AfDing these articles out of hatred for them? I guess I must not have copyedited some of FFVI's article. Quality of an article is not a reason to keep. If the character is not notable enough to warrant an article, they should not get their own article. - A Link to the Past (talk) 00:41, 15 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

May I also assume bad faith on the FF community after you attacked legitimate AfDs, Hibana tried to get the AfDs removed and Hibana tried to spam the AfDs on a talk page that will obviously attract people who would vote keep. I can also assume bad faith on this simple fact - I cannot trust that you are voting on the overall worthiness of it having its own article, but you vote on what kind of article it is; an FF article. - A Link to the Past (talk) 00:43, 15 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, I see. So wonderful to know that the Final Fantasy editors focus more on protecting their articles than improving Wikipedia. Also, it's nice to know you're not below stating your opinion as fact. So, because you like these articles, I have to like them too? More notable characters than these have been VfD'd. And of course, you voted Keep on Umaro. I guess lack of backstory, personality, and almost the entire thing being GAMEPLAY doesn't matter to you, because it is a Final Fantasy article. Status > quality in your eyes, but in Wikipedia, we don't just let every single article exist. If you don't like that there are legitimate AfDs on your articles (Yes, they ARE legitimate, because your word is not the word of God), tough cookies. And it IS bad to spam people to vote keep on the articles. That's a blockable offense. If I made an article called Donkey shit, and it went to the AfD, are you saying that it's okay for me to cheat the process? Grow up. Preserving the quality of Wikipedia holds precedence over your wants. - A Link to the Past (talk) 00:55, 15 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, finally. Took you a little longer than usual to make baseless accusations. Did I say the articles were bad? No. Quality of an article =/= important. Notability. Kefka is not playable, and you admitted Kefka does not deserve an article. Same with Leo.

If I had a superiority complex, I would skip the AfD, as I would be arrogant and disregard your opinion (which you feel is the word of God). But I did not, I put it up on the AfD. Congratulations, I gave you a chance to spam your friends into voting on this. Also, do you even need proof that trying to cheat the AfD process is a blockable offense?

It isn't so crazy based on the fact that you called them good articles and said that is why the AfD was in bad faith. That is stating opinion as fact. Wario isn't in the Brittanica, but it is kept. Give me one good reason why Umaro deserves an article. What, is it his deep personality? His exciting backstory? The two paragraphs that do not have to do with how he plays?

Also, I would like to think that I am not a rabid deletionist (as I rarely ever nominate anything for AfD). Of course, that fact is irrelevant - AfDing your favorite articles makes me one. - A Link to the Past (talk) 01:23, 15 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Wait, am I to believe that I am a rabid deletionist because I nominated many relevant articles? The point is that you don't think my reason for nominating them is in bad faith because you don't agree. Whoo. - A Link to the Past (talk) 01:50, 15 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Nice job making up stuff. I never said you were WRONG about anything. I said I disagreed. - A Link to the Past (talk) 02:03, 15 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Also, you ought to consider just moving them to Wikibooks. You could actually expand upon the characters there. - A Link to the Past (talk) 02:04, 15 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
And, you did a good job on Spira, so here. - A Link to the Past (talk) 02:06, 15 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I accept your apology. - A Link to the Past (talk) 03:53, 15 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
