Parma F.C. statistics[edit]

The first thing is that I've been looking at the Italian-languaged version for old squads and such. Even though I'm not an Italian-speaking person, it's fairly easy to find things on | Italian Wikipedia. To come to Parma's season articles, browse Parma Football Club xxxx-xxxx and you are getting there. As for the statistics I recommend | RSSSF, which has all sorts of Association football statistics and results imaginable, so to get to Italian football then press Current Domestic Results to be up to date with Parma's results from the 2010-11 season, when it's begun. For older results, then go for Historical domestic results. Best of luck, cheers! Roslagen (talk) 09:38, 25 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not replace Wikipedia pages with blank content, as you did to the page Category:1996–97 in Serie A. Blank pages can confuse readers, and are overall not helpful to the Wikipedia project; furthermore, blanking a page is not the same as deleting it.

If the article you blanked is a duplicate of another article, please redirect it to an appropriate existing page. If the page has been vandalized, please revert it to the last legitimate revision. Parma FC[edit]

It is no sense to remove players from the loan list. Abdou Doumbia and Gianluca Lapadula has signed a contract with Parma and announced by Parma FC official web site, they were loaned to Cisco Roma. This is your first warning, if you continued to remove them, i will report to ANI. Matthew_hk tc 18:36, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Matthew_hk tc 18:37, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
While I appreciate the militant tone, you might consider reviewing previous efforts from others to revert my edits in similar situations before threatening me with a report to "ANI", whatever that is.Omgosh30 (talk) 16:20, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Moreover, Daniel Ciofani did under contract with Parma, you may create a section for players under contract but unlikely to remain in the squad/pending a loan deal. Remove them was not a good way. De la Red was once listed in Current squad of Real Madrid until his long term injury is confirmed. If you think just remove all players that you don't know is effort, you will appear in ANI. Matthew_hk tc 16:27, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not doing any of those things. I'm going by the official sources. Which is as far as I know the right way to do things. I'm not convinced I'm catching the full gist of what you're trying to say, given that English isn't your first language, but I'm pretty confused as to how you've jumped to those conclusions. Omgosh30 (talk) 16:31, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Doumbia and Lapadula appeared in official source of both clubs, as cited above. Ciofani appeared in Cisco Roma and www.legaseriea.it (despite not appered in any source of Parma web). You ARE removed players you don't know. Matthew_hk tc 16:34, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Haha, I am fully aware of them. I removed them because they're not listed in the club's site's source or the released list of squad numbers. Read this. In the case of leagues with squad numbers, players should generally only be listed if they have a first team shirt number, have played first team football for the club in the past, or do not have a number due to being new signings. Omgosh30 (talk) 16:37, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I said, just look like Juventus FC, you can add a section for other players who under contract. You still not explained why Doumbia and Lapadula were removed. Likes FC Braca, some players were never played but listed in out on loan section. Matthew_hk tc 16:41, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
What? I explained their absence by their not having a squad number. Juventus are the only club I've seen with an additional section, so sorry I missed that! Any other examples, so that I know that's not an anomaly? Omgosh30 (talk) 16:46, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I said, played signed and immediately loaned out, were listed. you quote is for first team squad section but not for out on loan section. AND MoS is not a bible. I'm a member of Football Project for many years, you could bring the case to WP:footy. Matthew_hk tc 16:49, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The aim of that quoted "rules", was to prevent people listed every youth players in "first team" (with first team numbers and some additional criteria means he is a member of the first team) and prevent every new signing were listed in first team regardless his age. Matthew_hk tc 17:01, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, well the rules seem utterly redundant then. You'd think that if what you say is right the template would make some mention of the allowed leeway. Omgosh30 (talk) 17:17, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Kit Templates[edit]

Hello, I saw you had a question about kit templates awhile back. I just updated the Template:Football_kit documentation. Hopefully it can answer some of your questions. Wikipedia Commons is the best place to look for templates. I'm working now to organize it, but it's a rather large task (there are 6000+ that are uncategorized!). lol

Hi there OMGOSH, VASCO from Portugal here,

Seeing that i use sometimes those words in my summaries (sometimes exaggerated, sometimes not), but not in this player's case, it seems you have seen some of my edit history, then proceeded to make fun of me, why i really don't know :(

Furthermore, the article does need a total makeover, which i now will make (article refers to players which don't have anything to do with Aloisi, and the first section should be titled EARLY YEARS / ENGLAND as i put it, i just did not write storyline about BELGIUM and ITALY, was saving it for today).

Would really like to have some feedback from you if it's possible. Attentively - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 15:04, 7 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If you refer to this edit (please see here http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Filipe_Oliveira&diff=432934539&oldid=430419781), when using the word "rubbish" i mentioned the messy - i sometimes use "utter mess" instead - state of infobox, all scrambled up. Once i referred YOU, i used the word "kindly", and still you make fun of me for wanting to improve an article (Aloisi's)? A real "downer"... --Vasco Amaral (talk) 15:15, 7 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Excuse me but i did alter the state of the box in Filipe Oliveira significantly ("edit only" keep in mind), it was in my opinion scrambled up. Of course one when views the page without clicking "edit this page", it looks exactly the same, i agree.

About the rest (and most important): i admitted my summaries are sometimes exaggerated - i have used worse when dealing with lowlife vandals. Since you used the same ridiculous (i once again admit i sometimes am just that in my summaries) words as me in an article which had none of that in the summaries, only VASCOAMARAL editing, it's only fair to think you were belittling me. If i am wrong in my assumption, i apologize, but i have a bad feeling about it, this whole ordeal and your reply to my talkpage suggest you are (one of so many) disgusted by my wiki-manners and want nothing to do with me. You also don't saying "i did not mean to make fun of you, not my intention" after my "attack" implying that you did, suggests you did intend to make fun of me, fair enough...

Happy editing - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 15:53, 7 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, could you have a look at Aloisi's STATISTICS chart and correct two errors (i am terrible at those)? He split 1995/96 with both ANTWERP and CREMONESE, and his seasons in Italy were one in Serie A and another in Serie B. Thank you in advance. - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 15:55, 7 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Was only asking for your assistance (part of it was solved, not all, the 1995/96 season), but i guess that exaggerated summary of mine (which i have already explained) has put me in your black list for good, not one word of feedback. OK, i won't bother you anymore, expect the exact same courtesy if your approach is going to be negative please. --Vasco Amaral (talk) 23:43, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Surrey CCC[edit]

Thanks for your recent work on improving articles connected to Surrey CCC. As a Surrey fan myself, this is something that I'm glad to see. I don't know if you're aware that there's a cricket WikiProject, which perhaps you might be interested in joining. JH (talk page) 17:23, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Nice work on the records articles. I'd suggest adding Mark Ramprakash's innings back to the table of highest scores made for Surrey. It seems a bit strange to have five of the innings over 300 but to omit the sixth, and since the introduction says "generally five" it wouldn't create a problem. Logos sizes[edit]

Hi, I have seen that most of the logos in many football club infoboxes are absolutely oversized. As far as I know, non-free logos and other images in Wikipedia are for an identification purpose only. That´s the reason because I have edited them, there is no bad faith in that. Fma12 (talk) 03:03, 15 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Dall'Agnol[edit]

I saw you made a good table in your sandbox, but I'm afraid Dall'Agnol was on loan. Hope you put that table to Parma season article or somewhere suitable. Matthew_hk tc 18:36, 29 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Do you have a source for that? To be honest, I'm not really sure there's a suitable place for the table. However, I really think we should include all co-owned players (active and passive) on club's main articles. What do you think?  Omg †  osh  19:05, 29 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
In this backup of official transfer list, Parma loaned him from Sao Jose and subloaned Lanciano. For co-own i had no idea. Matthew_hk tc 08:45, 30 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Minor redirect problem[edit]

I noticed that you created List of Local derbies in the United Kingdom as a redirect. I assume that you intended to use a lower-case L and create List of local derbies in the United Kingdom instead, so I wanted to let you know so you can do that if you wish. Let me know if I'm missing something about the significance of "Local" with a capital L. --Closeapple (talk) 12:01, 17 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Parma[edit]

Hi Tom, thanks for your note. I have the time to help you out with Parma F.C., but here in Tel Aviv it's 4:30 in the morning and I've just got in from a long (and really rather pleasantly surprising) night out. I'm free most of tomorrow, though, so as soon as I drag myself out of bed I'll have a look through this, and we'll get this proverbial show on the road. I'll get back to you about this sometime tomorrow. Cliftonian (talk) 02:36, 23 March 2012 (UTC) P.S., keep in mind for future reference in our correspondence that I'm two hours ahead of you. Cliftonian (talk) 02:36, 23 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thoughts
  1. This is written very well; good, informative, yet flowing prose. Well done on this score.
  2. The history section suffers from quite severely from probably unintended recentism – you will get pulled up on this at some point, and you may want to look at extending the "early years" and "rebirth" sections with perhaps an extra paragraph each (at least) to balance it out. This section is also largely unreferenced, though very well-written, and clearly well-researched; I do not mean to criticise, but this would get picked up by reviewers, particularly those not so well-acquainted with soccer (who are the majority of Wikipedia editors, from my experience; see the "are/is" debate for a case in point).
  3. There's no alt text for the images; this isn't strictly necessary for GA but I just thought I'd say
  4. "Parma is" or "Parma are"? General consensus appears to be to refer to the club (as an organisation) as singular, and the team (as in the players) as plural. A good way around this in my experience is to use words like "the side", "the club", "the team" and so on as much as possible, with the singular form, to get around this issue. Where you do use the club's name, stick to "Parma are". To anybody who knows football, "Parma is" sounds like you are referring to the city itself, which of course you are not.
  5. I would move the old Parma logo to the top of the "strip" section, and put it as an |upright image, to make it slightly smaller. This will help with the layout.
  6. "constituted the frame of the goal". Which goal? One of them, or both? If both, put "of each goal". If only one, say "one of the goals". The stadium section otherwise looks very good.
  7. "Parma have had their kits manufactured and been sponsored" – try "Parma have had their kits manufactured by and sponsored by"
  8. I'd make the coat of arms here an |upright image too.
  9. Change "On loan" to "Out on loan"
  10. In the next few sections, you have several chairmen and managers who have had multiple spells consolidated ("Emilio Grossi 1928–29, 1935–36"). I see what you were trying to do, but for non-expert readers it's difficult to keep track. I would split these up again so the years flow straight without you having to go back and forth across the table.
  11. Where you have pictures of people, say when the picture is from; for example "Hernan Crespo (pictured in 2011)", or "Claudio Ranieri (2007 photograph)". I'm not sure what the ticket image adds to the article, if I'm honest. It's just a ticket.
  12. Look through your references. You have some works noted as publishers and vice-versa. The Times, for example is a newspaper and therefore a work, while FIFA and UEFA are organisations, and therefore publishers. Parma F.C. is a publisher, fcparma.com is a work. Sorry if this is confusing.
I hope all this helps, and if you like I can have another run-through and give you more thoughts another time. Good luck, and well done on the article so far! I enjoyed reading it very much. Cliftonian (talk) 15:20, 23 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Reply
  1. Thank you.
  2. I agree that it's suffering from a recentist slant at the moment, but I might go the other way and cut down on some of the later history. I'm wary that the history section is already becoming a tad unwieldy compared with other club articles. It'll also give me some encouragement to start on my next task, which is to clean up the club's history article!
  3. I shall implement alt text; I'll admit that it's not something I've used or heard of before, but a quick look at a couple of help pages has explained its function.
  4. Yeah, "is" or "are" is always something I hesitate on. I'll review that.
  5. The image move is as good as done once I've had a look at it!
  6. Ah, yes, I do mean both goals. I will clarify that point.
  7. That flows better, I agree.
  8. Same as point 5.
  9. That makes sense, as the current wording is a needless cause of ambiguity.
  10. You're right; that would probably make the information more accessible.
  11. The habit of dating pictures in that way wasn't something I was aware of and I'll get on it. The ticket is indeed just a ticket!
  12. Right, I'll be sure to brush up on the distinction. I can see it in the examples you give, but may come unstuck in other cases.

Thank you again; you've been a massive help!  Omg †  osh  16:08, 23 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Parma F.C.[edit]

Hi I reviewed the article and unfortunately I have had to fail it as there are too many issues at the moment. I've detailed my concerns at the review page. Once the issues have been rectified I would encourage you to nominate the article again. NapHit (talk) 19:20, 13 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Firstly regarding the singular/plural issue, when I got Liverpool F.C. I was told to stick with one usage. Saying it sounds like it would refer to the city is not an issue for me considering the article is about the football club, so no one is going to get confused because it sounds like we're referring to the city. I understand the context. From the outside looking in, Football Italia and Sportsbook24.net do not look reliable, they look like fan run websites. See WP:Reliable sources for more info, generally it would be preferable to have nationally printed newspapers and books for referencing, especially for the history section, instead of websites where it cannot be deemed if they are reliable or not. The last issue regards the formatting of some of the references. For instance ref 70 is in capitals, just because the publisher uses capitals does not mean we have to as well. I hope this has cleared up any issues. NapHit (talk) 09:48, 14 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

EPPP[edit]

Hi OMGosh30, on Elite Player Performance Plan you've recently edited out the list of academies. Is there a reason for that? I thought it was a useful section on the page and it appears to be the only source on the web of a growing list of which clubs have been assessed and graded for the EPPP? Lukew151 (talk) 20:28, 19 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Because it was a very incomplete list and is covered on the Professional Development League page. I wouldn't be strongly opposed to its reinstatement though. mgSH 21:25, 19 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

dear Omgsg30, I firstly woudl like to congratulate you on an outstanding work done in the Wikipedia page. Congrats.

I just wante to ask for your expertise, as I am not very fluent in the use of Wikipedia. I am the grandughter of GIUSEPPE CARLO FERRARI, and would like to help in sharing more information about my granfather in your page, and in the "main" page of FERRARI, in Wikipedia.

1) to include the hyperlink in your "COACHES" list to the available VOICE in Wikipedia, called Giuseppe Carlo Ferrari. I tried, but ...I give up! sorry, could not do it. My grandfather did not use the "carlo" much, but I guess that to sustain uniformity and clarity, it is better to utilize the full name, GCF.

2) to please include an old photo of Giuseppe Carlo Ferrari, of your choice. I have several photos of his goals, and of him with the SQUADRA, his team Parma and with Genoa (where he also played), that I think will highlight the "look and feel" of the page(s), as these photos are -in my humble opinion- a cherished memory of times already gone in our modern football.

3)Include the right date of Death, and place (Altagracia de Orituco, Venezuela).

4) include some more biographical short data, like for example that he trained some local footbal clubs in Venezuela, in Altagracia, sponsored by him, inclusive of painting the small local stadium and paying for the uniforms (!), in stories that could highlight the precarious environment of football in the Third World, where nevertheless many stars are born, with hard work and in unbelievable economic circumstances.

4) include some photos of FERRARI also in the Wikipedia article of him. If you would dare to do that, with many thanks in anticipation.

I imagine this is a truly weird petition, but I could not find a way to directly contact you through email. My email is mariangelacapello@gmail.com

I woudl like to do this, mainly to honor the memory of another time in football, where players were NOT PAID, and instead, were submitted many times to hard, harsh criticism, pursuing dreams of great football games, in the aftewar time in Italy, where many other economic priorities precluded the success of their careers. My granfather emigrated to Venezuela, as a result of economic difficulties. They ended up in a very small town, Altagracia de Ortituco, where his love for the great game continued through all imaginable ways: short wave radio listening, then, local Venezuelan TV retransmitted games, his own labour as trainer of local (very) small teams, and cherishing La Gazzetta dello Sport issues that travellers now and then would bring him.

I grew up with the certainty of witnessing the memoirs of ancient times in Italian football told by a protagonist, that was not recognized enough. May Wikipedia be able to capture the history details and pay tribute to all those players that initiated a great story for the Italian football!

THANKS.

Hello and thank you.

1) This has been done. Please confirm that he was coach in 2 periods (1945–46 and 1948–49).

2) Do you have these photos in digital format? If you upload them to, for example, [1], I will upload them to Wikipedia and use them on Wikipedia.

3) Is this your grandfather? Is the information here correct?

4) I will be able to include this information and these photos.

Do you have any online confirmation for anything your grandfather did? Also, is this him?

Always happy to help, mgSH 17:59, 27 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Dear: many thanks for your prompt reply, which is appreciated. In regards to your queries, please note the following:

1) yes, Giuseppe Carlo Ferrari was coach in those two periods to the best of my knowledge. FYI, There is a specific reference to his role as ALLENATORE of Parma in 1945-1946 in the below link. Also, I read a Gazzetta di Parma hard copy that was sent to my mother years back, where my garndfather name appeared as ALLENATORE in that same period. I could not retrieve this article on the Internet. It was a compilation. May be is not yet transferred to digital format? http://www.storiadelparmacalcio.com/storia-parma-calcio/i-presidenti-e-gli-allenatori-del-parma.htm

2) the exact place/date of death is: Altagracia de Orituco (Venezuela), 29 Jan, 1987.[1]

2b) Yes, I will upload some photos today and subsequently.

3)yes!!!

4) thanks.

You are the best. Me and my family greatly appreciate your help. Regards, and very best wishes for a Happy New Year 2014. MAC Mcapello (talk) 00:35, 1 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks again for your patience and availability to help. Greatly appreciated! Regards, ~~MACF~~

dear OMGOSH30:

Please note that the following phrase in the GIUSEPPE CARLO FERRARI's page would need an edit: "Having been signed by Lazio but never taking to the field of play, Ferrari returned to Modena in 1939, but relegation followed."

INFORMATION: My grandfather Ferrari Suffered a knee injury TOWARDS THE END OF 1938, THAT NEEDED REST FOR 6 MONTHS+ and precluded his full involvement in active play(this is the reason why I suspect he did not play or was not chosen to play during this time!).

May you be so kind as to edit that phrase according to these details, of which I am absolutely certain, because I know nonno Ferrari met my grandmother during that convalesence period. They married late in 1938. Thanks! MACF

How to put into Template:"Cricket in England table cells" a "Seasons" line[edit]

I tried to put this into Template:Cricket in England table cells

|group7 = Seasons
|list7 ={{Navbox|child}}

{{English cricket seasons in the 21st century}}

as it would give quick access to seasons over the last 200+ years-seems like a worthwhile goal BUT....when I do that:

it was OK except for the first line: 2001200220032004200520062007200820092010201120122013.

Any ideas how to include it and get *2001*2002*2003...?--DadaNeem (talk) 06:34, 25 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry to edit a three-year old comment, but I wanted to remove this page from an error-tracking category because {{Navbox}} has recently changed and "child" should only be used inside another navbox. The reason the {{English cricket seasons in the 21st century}} navbox above is showing bad results in the first line is due to the asterisk before it (I don't know how the asterisk damages it exactly, but it does). Johnuniq (talk) 06:37, 19 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry to edit a four-year-old comment, but I removed the asterisk because it causes a Multiline table in list lint error, which is a high priority lint error. —Anomalocaris (talk) 04:52, 23 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Derby results[edit]

Hi there! I've seen you work on Parma related articles, in particular with the Parma derbies, as I watch all the derby pages. I've just finished up adding the rest of the results for the Derby della Mole as it was pretty easy to get a hold of the results since they were on the Italian page. I was about to do it for the Derby d'Italia, however, the Italian wiki did not list the results this time. I've seen on the Derby dell'Enza that you've added the results to the English page even though there aren't listed on the Italian page, and you've also listed some good sources in Italian. This brings me to my question: I couldn't find any sources in English, and my Italian isn't as great as I'd like it to be, so if you have time would it be possible to look for a source that lists the Derby d'Italia meetings? I would appreciate it, but if it's too much trouble, don't worry about it. Regards, Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 13:16, 18 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Invite to the African Destubathon[edit]

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:13, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
