You recently contacted me

regarding File:Statue_of_Geo._Washington_at_Rogers_University.jpg and in your message stated, "or by taking a picture of it yourself." I guess that I did not make it clear that I had taken that picture. Will that be good enough? Einar aka Carptrash (talk) 20:49, 23 April 2012 (UTC)

Help

Hello, I am completely new to the process of uploading pictures onto wikipedia. So I don't know what tag(corresponding to licensing/image copyright tags) in particular would best fit the picture I uploaded. I got the picture from this Flickr link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/10189662@N04/860610798/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by MenAfuraka (talkcontribs) 22:47, 23 May 2012 (UTC)

Non-free files missing a rationale

Hi. According to Wikipedia:Database reports/Non-free files missing a rationale you have a number of files missing a rationale template. Perhaps you could have a look? It should be easy to find the files if you sort by uploader. --MGA73 (talk) 10:44, 26 May 2012 (UTC)

I am not understanding your edit here. The file is being used with a FUR. Why would it be deleted?--SPhilbrick(Talk) 14:56, 4 June 2012 (UTC)

Mutatis mutandis for File:Willliam Newport Goodell With Self Portrait.jpgand File:Willows in Sunlight by WIlliam Newport Goodell.jpg--SPhilbrick(Talk) 15:05, 4 June 2012 (UTC)
All images need licensing info. A fair use rationale doesn't cover licensing. Melesse (talk) 18:46, 4 June 2012 (UTC)
It has {{Non-free 2D art}}. What else do you think is needed?SPhilbrick(Talk) 15:40, 5 June 2012 (UTC)
I noticed that the three works had two difference licenses:
One had {{Non-free with permission}} , while two had {{Non-free 2D art}}. While the second is correct, the first is a better description. In addition, I notice that one was inside the info box and not rendering, so I chose the better license for all three, and made sure all displayed. I think this is now resolved. I'll remove the notices, let me know if you think I missed something. SPhilbrick(Talk) 12:15, 6 June 2012 (UTC)

This is a free file, though only in the US, so can you restore its old versions? —innotata 15:12, 28 June 2012 (UTC)

Manhattan Transfer

The image I added is of the original cover of The Very Best of The Manhattan Transfer. I'm not the most Wiki-savvy person in the world, so my tagging of this image isn't so great. I know that with Appetite for Destruction, and several Scorpions albums the original edited cover appears in the article. I was just seeking to do the same. Rather than delete the image, couldn't you just help me out with the tagging? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.54.246.53 (talk) 13:09, 24 July 2012 (UTC)

Hi

Hi. I saw your name in the history of a page today and remembered it from ancient days long passed. Glad to see you are still around and editing. :-) Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 08:17, 29 July 2012 (UTC)

I Specialize in Love

Hi Melesse! Please give me a bit of time to work on your suggestions. My intention is to comply with Wikipedia standards. I donate my time because I'm passionate, as we all are, about providing the highest caliber encyclopedic experience for the user, and whenever possible, I try to provide the reader with both text and image for optimal historical context. The fact that the name of the article didn't load is a technical problem I encountered; truthfully, I am learning as I go. I need to figure out how to delete the entire image/rationale so I can start over. If you have any suggestions on how to accomplish that task, I'd be ever so grateful! Thank you. Mayanalda (talk) 17:13, 25 August 2012 (UTC)

screenshot?

Hello, I am writing an article about a popular Iranian TV puppet character. I want to know if I can use his screenshot pictures in the article or not? Bbadree (talk) 08:56, 9 September 2012 (UTC)

Based on all the notifications on your talk page related to fair use images, I would suggest against it. Melesse (talk) 09:10, 9 September 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for instant reply, but what I asked was in general. Those images were film posters or screenshots i might haven't add a proper copyright information. This one is a screenshot of the character. Bbadree (talk) 10:08, 9 September 2012 (UTC)
Well, if you're sure you now understand how to write a complete and satisfactory fair use rationale, feel free. Be aware though, that a screenshot of a copyrighted character will require proper copyright information just the same as a film poster or film screenshot. 121.54.66.11

Hey. I noticed that you blocked 121.54.66.11 indefinitely. Was that intentional? Prolog (talk) 08:35, 10 September 2012 (UTC)

Yes. Melesse (talk) 16:51, 10 September 2012 (UTC)
IP addresses should not be blocked indef. The duration needs to be reduced to five years or less. I'll add that the only five-year IP blocks I have seen have been on open proxies. Prolog (talk) 18:09, 10 September 2012 (UTC)
Ok, didn't know that. Changed. Melesse (talk) 05:11, 11 September 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for the deleting the "File:51sqFVjcxGL. SL500 AA300 .jpg ‎". This mistake happened when the Wikipedia site was down a few minutes ago. Can you tell how to delete your own file? Please reply back on talk page. Sysmithfan (talk) 19:34, 7 October 2012 (UTC)

Okay. Are you also an admin? Sysmithfan (talk) 00:04, 8 October 2012 (UTC)
Yeah. If that happens again you can ask me to delete the problem file, or you can ask any other admin you might know. Melesse (talk) 01:31, 8 October 2012 (UTC)

I want to give a Category to a deleted file

I would like to categorise [[File:Paul Kelly 2007.jpg]] with the following [[Category:Images of Paul Kelly (musician)]] but it asks me to Create a file and then tells me it has previously been deleted and that I should contact you. Is there a work around this problem? Thanks for any help.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 05:16, 26 October 2012 (UTC)

The image isn't technically on Wikipedia anymore, it's on Commons. I don't know that there is a way to add it to that category. By the way, non-free images shouldn't be displayed in list categories, see WP:NFG for how to resolve that. Melesse (talk) 05:42, 26 October 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for the advice.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 06:08, 26 October 2012 (UTC)

Poster

Melesse,

You posted an article "File:Incrediblepetrifiedworld.jpg"

I am looking at the poster and wondering if you know any way of contacting the people who might have the copywrite. I cant find the company existing any more.
