WikiProject Software Announcement[edit]

Announcement
  • Software Wikia is a wiki specialised on software using semantic extras. If a nice article does not have the required Wikipedia:Notability, simply export it and ask an admin for an import there.
  • WikiProject Free Software is now merged with WikiProject Software. The link to WikiProject Free Software is Wikipedia:WikiProject Software/Free Software.
  • To better serve Wikipedia, WikiProject Malware is now under the parent of WikiProject Computer Security. All Malware articles are currently being transferred over to the new project. In any case, you are welcome to join at WikiProject Computer Security!
  • All members of WikiProject Software are urged to install the Centralized Announcement System on their talk page.
  • I have changed the participant (members) table by replacing the Task column with Area of Expertise. I also introduced a new template based status system so as to "arrange" the members according to whether they are active, semi-active, inactive, or retired. Please update your entry accordingly.

McEliece[edit]

Hi Melab-1, I know that the Handbook states "at most t ones", I said as much on my comment on the articles discussion-page. However, in the papers that I read regarding the attack on the system the authors assume that the error-code has exactly t ones. I then reread the linked/cited paper by McEliece and found the quote "of length n and weight t". A vector only ever has weight t if it contains precisely t ones. I don't want to rollback the article just to spite you, I'd rather convince you of my position and hope you will re-edit the article yourself. Wishing you all the best. Hello again. I forgot to tell you that the expression I gave you only works for standard time, not daylight saving time. For the latter, the "- 5" must be changed to "- 4". But it might be better to use the #time function like you do, but leave out the #ifexpr and change "h:i:s" to "h:i:s A" in the #time function. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction! (I had not studied the time formatting options thoroughly.) And that way you only need to change one expression on daylight saving changes. :-) Iceblock (talk) 21:29, 27 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use images and userboxes[edit]

At User:Melab-1/Userboxes/Try Chrome you reinstated a fair use image onto the userbox [10]. Fair use images are not permitted to be used outside of the main article namespace per WP:NFCC #9 restrictions on location. Do not reinstate this image again as it is a direct violation of policy. PHP example code[edit]

Hello there. I noticed you included PHP code a while ago here. I would like to say that PHP is a wonderful tool; however, it often doesn't allow the coder to write very accessible code. Also, I don't know if your coding habits have changed since October 8th, 2008, but it would be nice if you commented your example code and used more verbose variable names. I apologize if this message came off as rude or insulting; I meant neither.

Reviewer granted[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Hello, Melab-1. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Hello, Melab-1. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote.
