Hi there, Musikverein. This link that I found by googling suggests he recorded most of Rachmaninoff's piano works, but not all of them. The Moments Musicals, Op.16, for example, are not listed, and neither are the 3rd or 4th Concertos. 1. Stop ABUSE from MUSIKVEREIN, THD3 concerning content quality. See my previous summaries for changes. Avoid non verified sources, they must be deleted, particularly any unreliable "copies of copies" and "references with references with references". What is more, this page must not be used for non verified claims from whatever community. There already were court charges and research on false copies of letters or false letters, dubious Web pages and so forth (Sviatoslav Richter had a clear and consequent stance concerning his life and privacy, and morally speaking it is more honest to refer to that).

2. Stop ABUSIVELY USING this page for any communities’ / community's claims: even the section "trivia" is discouraged and this page is not about hetero- or homosexuality, particularly not the body part of the page.

3. Any reference to Horowitz or whomever is absolutely of no interest and no use. Do not change subjects. We are not discussing him or pages concerning him. Hypothetically there might be abuse on those other pages, too.

4. Searching for I.P. addresses or user locations is a doubtful and generally speaking, a useless activity for well-intentioned users when it comes to well-intentioned users.

Richter

I've done a little investigating. The IP address for 88.218.172.3 apparently indicates a user in Athens, Greece. That explains the poor use of English. I'm not sure how to request someone be blocked, but a warning from an administrator is required first. Here we go again! Steiner_redlich and Francorussie are the same person, this was admitted on Francorussie's talk page. They should both be blocked, and we may have to consider a request to lock the page until this dispute simmers down. The user has an agenda, but he's trying to hang it on Salon.com not being a reliable source, which is bunk. If he wants more references, I have a copy of the collected letters of Igor Stravinsky which references Richter's sexuality.THD3 (talk) 22:25, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

That's right, THD3. I suspect this Steiner fellow is also behind user 82.124.131.159: same wording of complaints, same style. I can also contribute with a couple of sources on Richter's sexuality to buttress the point, should that be needed. Steiner Redlich has received warning messages from you, Emerson7 and myself, has even been blocked for 48 hours, but is still at his disruptive game. Thank you for the feedback. Well, the statement "Para salvaguardar direitos individuais, quem o quiser manterá em sua assinatura a forma consuetudinária" implies that in the signature the names can be kept as they were originally, but not the transcription in an encyclopedia, there's clear difference between a primary source and a secondary or tertiary edition, that's exactly what does the prestigious Dicionário Histórico-Biográfico Brasileiro or the Galeria dos Brasileiros Ilustres. I understand that it seems "odd", but that's the rule in the Portuguese language, even if a lot of people ignores it. And the rules apply even to the names of people born after the last orthographic reform. As an encyclopedia, Wikipedia should use the same criteria. In paleography or transcription of primary sources, the names can be kept in the original form, as Luís de Camões once was "Luiz de Camoens" or Dom Afonso Henriques was "Don Affõso Hẽrriques". Hello--to answer your question, I'm not sure it does translate: "the Viennese Philharmonickers"?? The German idiom customarily refers to the musicians who make up the group, rather than the group itself (cf. "die Berliner Philharmoniker"). For his Ninth, it totally makes sense to use a picture from his final years. He was no spring chicken when he wrote his Study Symphony in F minor, but still it seems slightly incongruous to me to use a picture of him much older. I had lunch with Stephen about a month ago. Afterward, we walked around the neighborhood and I snapped a photo of him (using his camera) underneath a Hough Bakeries sign. I was hoping to add it to his bio article, but the background is too cluttered. Anyway, since he and I correspond and are acquainted, I'd appreciate it if you could watch over his page - I don't want to get caught up on a potential conflict of interest. It's still on my watchlist, but I'm only guarding against vandalism. But I don't want the article bogged down with qualifying statements which is where the other authors were leading us - I much prefer conciseness. I can't help but wonder if they're the same person, as their editing history is similar - although not identical. Thanks for contributing the the Kiev/Berdichev discussion on the Horowitz page. I was offline for much of the weekend. Just an FYI, Schonberg's book on Horowitz is loaded with errors. (The Berdichev error is understandable since the documents would not have been available to Westerners at that time.) But he did very little research aside from his interviews with Horowitz (who sometimes had a selective memory) and reading his own NY Times reviews - which he quoted liberally throughout the book. For one thing, Schonberg gets the chronology of Horowitz's separation from Wanda wrong, stating it ended with the pianist's nervious breakdown in early 1953, when in fact they were back together by the fall of 1951, when Horowitz toured England and France. Hi! At Spanish WP, they do not accept the movie Pele Eterno as a reliable source (I cannot explain why). I've reached the register of Três Corações and they confirmed that, at his birth certificate, it is spelled "Edison" (and the book, number and page of the birth certificate are the same ones informed at Pelé Eterno). Also, anyone may request a copy of his certificate paying R$35,00.

Well, now this is it: reach the registry of Três Corações and buy a copy of his birth certificate would be "original research". But all of it confirms the informations given at Pelé Eterno, which is not primary source. If there was any other source, a book or magazine, saying something about his real name, would be great (just to shut up the Doubting Thomases). If you come by anything, just give me a call. Marc-André Hamelin

I appreciate that you're watching this page. Recently, there have been some very strange things going on there. User:Darrenmichaelman (the name is an anagram of Marc-André Hamelin) made some hyperbolic, promotional edits which I reverted. Then, anonymous editor added a rather romanticized photo of Hamelin in profile. I removed the photo from the article because is was too wide, Halemin's face was off center, and it was facing away from the article. I sent a note to the editor explaining how to fix it. Rob MacAlear is certainly within his bounds to remove his 2003 photo of Hamelin. But the newer photo, without some modification, is not appropriate to a bio article.THD3 (talk) 15:07, 31 August 2010 (UTC)

It needs to end with a verticle line and closing bracket (the reverse of how it starts). Otherwise, the template gets placed in the wrong part of the page. A source for de:Bruder Jacob on Mahler's first symphony ? Sorry, but we'd rather need a source for Bruder Martin : never heard that, while I was singing Bruder Jacob when I was 8 years old... To me, this Bruder Martin thing is probably some vandalism, and it's weird I'm the one who has to provide a source.

All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
