A barnstar for you![edit]

The Random Acts of Kindness Barnstar
Hi, because of lack of time, i was not able to complete the article yesterday, thank you very much for taking the time to explain me how to use the Harv style and for completing (and correcting my mistakes) my edits at Medo-Babylonian conquest of the Assyrian Empire. Cheers. ---Wikaviani (talk) (contribs) 21:36, 20 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Wikaviani: Thanks! Glad I could help. M.Bitton (talk) 23:47, 20 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It’s always great to see more people fighting vandalism. Have a star! Jeb3Talk at me hereWhat I've Done 23:41, 12 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A cup of coffee for you![edit]

I see that you check recent edits for appropriateness. I clicked through to see a set of the reversions that you had made for rejected submissions, and I agreed with all of what I saw you had done. It seemed apparent to me through the decisions you made and the comments that you left that you were giving human attention to the decisions you made rather than over-relying on tools and automation. Thanks for that, and thanks especially for the notes you leave. You are doing good review. Blue Rasberry (talk) 01:39, 18 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Another barnstar for you![edit]

The Original Barnstar
For answering a lot of edit requests and helping to keep the backlog at bay. For a while, I was taking care of that on my own, and it feels nice to see someone else get to it first every now and then! Actualcpscm (talk) 17:22, 17 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Actualcpscm: thank you very much for the encouragement and for tackling those time consuming edit requests that tend to be pushed to the back of the queue. Keep up the great work! Best, M.Bitton (talk) 22:39, 17 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Here's a barnstar for your incredible work on the Horn of Africa relief map! Really appreciate the effort you put into it :) KluskaSlaska (talk) 16:21, 21 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Also, on a related note, I would love to do some more map work once I have more time in late summer. Do you have any good guides on how to get started on maps for Wikipedia? :) KluskaSlaska (talk) 16:21, 21 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@KluskaSlaska: Thank you so much for your feedback. Unfortunately, I'm not aware of any good guides that would help you. Best, M.Bitton (talk) 14:02, 17 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Honestly, I'm a bit disappointed in myself for not giving this to you sooner! You have been a great help creating maps for many articles, don't stop doing what you do! – Treetoes023 (talk) 22:09, 11 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding Reverting My Edit on Arab Cold War[edit]

Hello. You have reverted 7 of my edits on Arab Cold War. I didn't remove or add any information. I just cleaned the jumbled mess that was the infobox. Why have you reverted the edits? Hind242 (talk) 04:50, 30 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Here's what you exactly reverted
>Collapsible List of Parties
>Grouping of Palestinian and Omani Militant groups
How is this contentious? Hind242 (talk) 05:49, 30 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You removed State of Palestine. If this was a one off, I probably wouldn't have said anything, but given that you've been editing the contentious topic for a while and the content in your sandbox, I had no other choice. This and the introduction to the CT that was left on your talk page are meant to prevent you from getting yourself into trouble. M.Bitton (talk) 13:30, 30 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Look, the State of Palestine was founded in 1988. I'm not an Israel supporter or anything, but including a nation that had not existed back then? Its nonsense.
Oh and my sandbox. Yeah I use it to make althist content on reddit.
I am not gonna bring the content without getting your approval, which I wish you would grant. Hind242 (talk) 15:08, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You make any edits regarding the Arab/Israel conflict, broadly construed until you have 500 edits and become extended-confirmed. That includes edits about Palestinian militant groups. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 15:13, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Aaah ok Hind242 (talk) 06:48, 3 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I would appreciate if you deleted "State of Palestine". Its a big innacuracy. Hind242 (talk) 06:49, 3 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding Reverting My Edit on List of ethnic cleansing campaigns‎[edit]

Hi M.Bitton, I just saw you reverted my edit in the list of ethnic cleansing campaigns, writing:"What makes it "ethnic cleaning"?" I am not sure what exactly you mean by that, could you please explain?

Here the short reason why I included it: As described by the final report S/1994/674 of the UN (and basically the same in the Wikipedia article on ethnic cleansing), ethnic cleansing is “… a purposeful policy designed by one ethnic or religious group to remove by violent and terror-inspiring means the civilian population of another ethnic or religious group from certain geographic areas.”[1] This is what the Almoravids, ethnic Berbers and religious Muslims, did to the Mozarabs, Christians of predominantly ethnic Roman & Visigothic and Arab origin, and Jews, Jewish in religion and ethnicity, as they were suspected of fifth-column activities and therefore considered dangerous in the region. You can also read the sources I cited, but it would be great if you could explain what you mean by your comment, also in comparison with the Alhambra decree which did basically the same (though again with Jews on the receiving end). Thanks in advance, PontiffSulivahn (talk) 14:06, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

That's WP:OR. The lead of the list states This article lists incidents that have been termed ethnic cleansing by some academic or legal experts., so the entry doesn't belong there unless the RS describe it as "ethnic cleansing". The "multiple issues" template at the top of the article means that the list already contains entries that shouldn't be there, adding more OR to it is not really an option. M.Bitton (talk) 14:13, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ah I get, it thanks M.Bitton. Sometimes still a bit uncertain what that OR is and what now. I will have a look then if some academic has described it as ethnic cleansing and then see if it can be included or not. Thanks for the clarification. PontiffSulivahn (talk) 15:38, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
