License tagging for Image:SearchEngineStrategiesConf&Expo.gif[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:SearchEngineStrategiesConf&Expo.gif. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 21:13, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Clickz, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.clickz.com/about. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot 23:44, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Clickz, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Moonriddengirl 23:44, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

clickz.com[edit]

I removed all links from the newly created ClickZ page in order to make it less of an advertisment. I hope this helps, if not please let me know what else I can do. I have read the terms and I am not looking to advertise - Matt

COI Advice[edit]

Hi, I am actually a speaker at Search Engine Strategies on the topic of Wikipedia and SEO. He're the standard warning message, which includes very good advice;

If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with,
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors,
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam);
    and you must always:
  4. avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially neutral point of view, verifiability, and autobiography.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see Wikipedia:Business' FAQ. For more details about what constitutes a conflict of interest, please see Wikipedia:Conflict of Interest. Thank you. - Jehochman Talk 14:02, 30 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Logos[edit]

Are you sure that the Image:SearchEngineStrategiesConfandExpo.gif and Image:SearchEngineWatch.gif logos have been released under the Free Art license as you tagged them? My hunch is that Incisive Media actually wants to exert some level of copyright protection over the use of the logos, but perhaps I'm wrong. If I am correct, however, then the {{Logo}} copyright tag might be more appropriate, provided a proper fair use rationale is given. --ZimZalaBim talk 03:04, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:SearchEngineStrategiesConfandExpo.gif requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. I've made some suggested changes. You'll need to find some refs for the personal section. --NeilN talk to me 14:42, 22 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Zach McGowan.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Zach McGowan.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Яehevkor 15:20, 22 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Zach mcgowan.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Denniss (talk) 21:50, 12 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Lafmm. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "Loud Interactive".

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note that Articles for Creation is not for indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Loud Interactive}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, click "Save page", and an administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. HasteurBot (talk) 12:01, 13 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of Interest - Zach McGowan[edit]

Hello, I wanted to ask about your relationship to Zach McGowan, as you stated here that he is your brother. You are welcome to upload photographs whose copyright you own – I am glad to see contributions that improve Wikipedia – but if you are indeed related to Mr. McGowan, I'd encourage you to familiarize yourself with the Wikipedia:Conflict of interest policy. In a nutshell, it strongly discourages anyone from editing pages about themselves or their family. I saw you made a few edits, such as here and here, which look like you were removing critical news coverage from Zach McGowan's page. If you do have a conflict of interest, I would kindly ask you to please refrain from making any direct changes to the article and instead raising your concerns on the article's talk page. Thank you for your understanding!-Ich (talk) 13:29, 22 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
