Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on 'Breaker' Morant (film), by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because 'Breaker' Morant (film) is a redirect page resulting from an implausible typo (CSD R3).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting 'Breaker' Morant (film), please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. the Sydney Journal

Hi there, Just thought I'd drop you, and the other sydneysiders who came to the meetup, a line and mention that the first edition of the Dictionary of Sydney's online, peer-reviewed journal is now live.

The Sydney Journal is the first (and most academically rigorous) "product" of the Dictionary. It will be a quarterly publication with a variety of texts from upcoming Dictionary articles and is hosted by UTS E-press. This edition features 4 thematic articles, 6 ethnicities and 5 suburbs - all specifically related to Sydney.

I hope you find it useful and interesting - If nothing else it's essays are eminently referenceable for their corresponding articles here on WP.

editing help

Hi there Ian!

A university class I've been trying to convince to get involved in using WP in their class has today agreed to do so. In the class they rewrote the text of Religious Nationalism. I was wondering if you could have a look at it and edit it mercilessly (as the saying goes). Perhaps if you could convince others to get in on the act too that would be great.

Here is the diff of the edit they made [1].

Thanks for your help,

Witty Lama 10:36, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

Please note that the section Religious Nationalism has now been separated from the main article Nationalism into its own article Religious nationalism. Please join in and help bring this newly formed article up to standard. Especially important is avoiding a Systemic Bias and adding Citations.

All the best, Witty Lama 04:57, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

Oceania 2008

No worries about the write over, it was only 6-8 hours of apparently wasted effort... but a few notes:

  • Was there a reason your page wasn't connected to the OSA page before the Oceania Champs. page was created?
  • In naming the page, I went with the year at the end because it helps group the event pages together by the event name, rather than by the year.
  • For this event, there really are only records for swimming, so they should be in the subsection of swimming, not a separate section. And does "WR" really need to be on a page where none where set?
  • I had actually checked all of the name links on my original page, and then not included the ones that linked to nothing or to the wrong person (e.g. Mark Herring)--rather than having a page of red links.
  • The relay results on the page do not match the posted final results, where Australian/New Zealand have 2 relays in the top-3. Did you chose not to count these "B" relays? The meet information allows for up to 3 entries per country...
  • For relays: the relay represents, first-and-foremost, the country, so it should be listed first, before the athletes on it. And as far as I have ever heard them referred to, swimming relays are 400 or 800, not 4x100 or 4x200: the sport is swimming, not track & field (I believe this switch is coming from the FINA office, in some strange (and what I view as misguided) attempt to have the sport act like "Athletics").
  • Dates... are you linking to dates (e.g. "8 June")? If so, why? (this is on the Oceania Champs. record page)

Just my thoughts.... Hooperswim (talk) 13:23, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

Hi there, Ive recently joined the WP:WikiProject Swimming team. Im committed to getting on top of the project. Since you have listed yourself as a participant i thought i'd let you know what i've done. Ive got a bot thats going through the relevant catagouries that apply to the project and tagging them with our banner. Ive done all the stub class articles and assessed them automaticlly, and im starting on the 3000 other articles that ive identified. So this will mean that we will have all the articles in the scope of the project together and we can start working on them. So if you have any spare time theres going to be thousands of articles that will need assessing. There are around 2000 articles Just in in stub class, and most of these will need the importance assessed. I think it's important we get all this assessing done, so we can start working on the articles.

Don't fell pressured to start assessing articles, i just thought that since theres going to be so many articles, you should know that theres heaps of work that needs to be done, ill be trying my best once my exams are finished. Remember many hands make light work.

Records in swimming

As a creator and/or regular contributor to the various XXXX records in swimming articles, I invite you to discuss with other contributors to these pages about creating a standard format and page layout for such articles. Information: User:Yboy83/Records in swimming project; Discussion: User:Yboy83/Records in swimming project/Discussion.

Look forward to hearing your thoughts. Yboy83 (talk) 16:20, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

NZ Swimming records

I actually don't see any point in referencing records which have already been ratified by Swimming NZ and are listed on the records page of their website. New records can have individual references until the next SNZ update but as the SNZ records is the ultimate and final source for this page keeping individual references after an update is unnecessary and adds nothing to the article. Ratings

I noticed you added the ratings to The Hollowmen. I was wondering where these ratings where from? Are they estimations by channel two about the number of viewers (based on the results of a survey of a small group of viewers) or something? --Adam1213 Talk 12:44, 30 August 2008 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Sean Wroe

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Sean Wroe, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. G'day Wikimedian :-)

Whilst it's quite likely you'll have heard this news on the grapevine, in your email inbox, or even in person - I thought that it was sufficiently exciting to warrant giving each of you a 'new messages' orange bar! This particular orange bar has been brought to you to let you know that Wikimedia Australia is now open for members!

I'm not on the committee or anything, and that's where the credit is due in getting everything to this point, but I think it would be absolutely fantastic for folks who wish to support the australian wiki community, to go ahead and sign up - we're quite likely to be the world's fatest growing chapter at the moment! Join Us :-)

Here's a little more about membership, and the mailing list in particular is well worth signing up to as well, and is a good forum to get answers to any questions answered, or to share any ideas. I've dropped these notes in under my own steam, and you've received one because you're on this list - feel free to ask me any questions, or anything - I can certainly point you in the right direction :-) cheers all, Privatemusings (talk) 04:04, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
