Hello. Ya I just noticed that there is a repeat. I mentioned he made his debut and the sentence after says the same thing too. How do I explain edits? That would be handy. — Preceding unsigned comment added by NASoccerDude (talk • contribs) 19:17, 2 January 2015 (UTC)
George Gibson
Hi GiantSnowman, I am the son of Footballer George Gibson and can provide whatever personal details you require for this site. I'm not sure what reference I can provide besides my knowledge. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Andrew.gibbo (talk • contribs) 13:03, 3 January 2015 (UTC)
- Happened to notice this when I was here a minute ago. The LondonHearts website here lists his birthdate as 15 Nov 1945, which is the date added by Mr Gibson's son. LondonHearts is WP:RS, though possibly only in context of Hearts stats, but it's at least as likely accurate as OzFootball. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 14:14, 3 January 2015 (UTC)
Robert Murić
Hi! Umm... First off, apologies I guess, since I flat out forgot to put a newspaper reference for at least two out of Robert's 4 clubs before he joined Dinamo's youth team. An article that mentions the first and the last one. I just hate seeing obviously incorrect info being kept due to technicalities, but my bad. Now as for the other two - I have the access to and gathered the info from the official Croatian Football Federation database, where all the players' contracts and all the registrations are clearly listed. How do I go on citing that, the most correct of all sources, since the access is limited to a relatively small amount of people (well, some thousands of football officials & related jobs here)? Screenshots are easy to provide but I doubt that they would be useful. Zlopseto (talk) 13:47, 3 January 2015 (UTC)
- As far as I'm concerned, even though it's far more strictly closed (as all the official data is stored there), sure! The link's here: https://comet.hns-cff.hr - you won't see much though in terms of description. You can read about it online, though most articles about it are in Croatian I guess. Zlopseto (talk) 14:00, 3 January 2015 (UTC)
Ken Gutteridge
Hello, and compliments of the season to you. I'll have a look later (more concerned at the moment about my lot not contributing another little fairy tale to the magic of the FA Cup), but as he never played first-team for Birmingham, I doubt the books will mention him. One thing though, the Gresley database counts all competitions, not league only; the results and scorers lists show his goals were all scored in the league, but the appearances are all comps. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 13:51, 3 January 2015 (UTC)
User:Royroydeb's creations
Hi GS, how are you?
I'm currently noticing the mentioned guy's creations. No efforts to make a decent page anyway, just creating them to "take the credit". I tried to talk to him several times, got no responses.
Almost every Spanish player this guy creates I improve (i.e. correct the page). This is getting a litle tiresome.
I'm hoping that you can "shed some light" in him.
Thank you, MYS77 ✉ 21:31, 3 January 2015 (UTC)
- If you are in need of some examples, here they are: Jonathan Cafú, Alef dos Santos Saldanha and Esteban Becker, all are nothing more than a simple line! Thanks, MYS77 ✉ 21:35, 3 January 2015 (UTC)
- And, after a quick research, I found that I'm not the only one complaining about it. If you take a look at his talk page, there's more requests from other users, and I did not found any answers too. Cheers, MYS77 ✉ 22:10, 3 January 2015 (UTC)
- Yep, this is starting to really become annoying. I understand creating articles randomly, especially for credit, we've all been there but to let get to this... this is just sad quite frankly. I am considering messaging him on facebook as a last measure (facebook is listed on his page) but this needs to be discussed. --ArsenalFan700 (talk) 00:02, 4 January 2015 (UTC)
- I have also seen this, but dont know what to do. Just look at Esteban Becker where only source is estebanbecker.com and the content is "Esteban Becker is a former Argentine footballer and a coach.[1]". Can we delete under CSD or PROD or do we have to AfD ever article? Can it be considered disruptive or something and have user blocked? Or perhaps there is a way from blocking editors so they can not create articles? QED237 (talk) 00:48, 4 January 2015 (UTC)
- I'm not saying that the guy is acting in a bad way, no. But his edits are, indeed, disruptive. It took me a lot of time to fix his creations (some were missing a lot of info in box, others had a really poor storyline, and there it goes). I don't know what's the proper solution of this, but his creations need to improve ASAP. Thank y'all, happy weekend. MYS77 ✉ 02:18, 4 January 2015 (UTC)
- Thing is, these days, to put it crudely, he doesn't seem to give a shit. There were incidents in the past where he played games with sources, and perhaps naively I put it down to his youth, suggested he stopped messing about, and then forgot about it. E.g. copying citations from other WP articles regardless of them being live or dead, writing a news item himself on a blog-style site and then citing it, or using someone's storyline in an online FM game as a citation in a BLP...
- His attitude to sourcing and his complete refusal to fix his own mistakes or even to respond at all is now extremely problematic. See e.g. User talk:Royroydeb#Sourcing stats tables, User talk:Royroydeb#Bobby Hassell, and a warning here, to which responses came there none (I fixed the Hassell table myself). And he's still putting a reference at the top of stats tables regardless of whether it covers the content, as at Rafa Jordá, where neither source includes the Chinese Cup figures or any mention of Dinamo Tbilisi, which is supposedly his current club. He's a prolific editor, and not just in football. If the quality of his work is similar in other fields, we do have a problem... cheers, Struway2 (talk) 11:07, 4 January 2015 (UTC)

- In my opinion, the worst ones were Sheyi Ojo and Oluwaseyi Ojo; although you could argue that he is at least marginally notable, those two names are different names for the same player; the articles even use the exact same source. Lukeno94 (tell Luke off here) 11:25, 4 January 2015 (UTC)

Template:Veria F.C.
By figures I mean, important first team players, presidents or coaches that had an important-significant impact on the history of the club. I've seen this one on Template:Olympiacos F.C. and I decided to add it to Template:Veria F.C. as well. Is there any problem with that action, that I should be aware of? PanosBonJovi (talk) 20:47, 5 January 2015 (UTC)
- Their appearances/goals scored, their work in order to improve the club's status/level, their own fame maybe(?). These people ain't considered to be figures for the club by my own judgment, these names came from an encyclopedia that's about Veria F.C. history. Well if this section can't be on the Template:Veria F.C. it's okay for me, but I believe that is a detail that should be included there, still these names exist on the main article Veria F.C. so if you want them removed, thats fine. Removing Honours
Hello! Summer is nearby, so the Snowman should go hide in the mountains. Okay, all jokes aside. I've noticed that you have been on a spree of removing honours. (mostly African and Mexican players. Landon Donavan might have been a coverup.) I would like to know why. I'm not accusing you of anything, but I just noticed a pattern. Non African and Mexican players like Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie, Clint Dempsey, Michael Bradley, Luke Shaw, Miroslav Klose, Robert Lewandowski, Jakub Błaszczykowski, Tim Krul, and etc. are also "unref", but you don't seem to be removing their honours. At first I though you were making good edits, until I noticed the pattern. Once again, I'm not accusing you of anything. I would like to hear back from you. If you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. This message I'm sending is in good faith.
More "unref" honours

- Park Chu-young
- Son Heung-min
- Ross Barkley
- André Schürrle

Shawn Oakman
As I said to Yankees, the article showed nothing of importance; most college football players aren't important, and it put forth the idea that he was just another college football player, not showing anything particularly different. I addressed the notability angle because it would be unhelpful to A7-delete a subject that's clearly notable (if I demonstrate notability without addressing something's importance, it shouldn't be deleted), and I addressed it time and time again because Yankees wouldn't or couldn't understand what a primary source is. Nyttend (talk) 13:48, 11 January 2015 (UTC)
- I love how you continue to act like you are right, despite not one person agreeing with you. You're admin candidacy clearly needs to be reviewed and your deletion history definitely needs to be looked at. Because it seems to me like you are the one not understanding sourcing, not me.--Yankees10 17:51, 11 January 2015 (UTC)

- @Nyttend: - responding here to keep it in one place - saying this player was a college player was enough to cover the 'importance' aspect. Can you not understand that? You are again confusing 'importance' and 'notability' as seen in your comment that "most college football players aren't important." GiantSnowman 18:23, 11 January 2015 (UTC)
- Why do you say that they're all important? Unlike schools, A7 contains no blanket exceptions for people of any sort. When I was in college, I had a couple of dozen acquaintances who were college football players; were all of them important? Even if you want to restrict it to Division 1-A schools, you have 128 schools with approximately 100 players each: are all 12,800 of them ineligible for A7? Only the prominent ones are important, and only the exceptionally prominent ones are notable. Nyttend (talk) 18:40, 11 January 2015 (UTC)

QPQ review
This one looks easy; all the sources are in Serbian, so you should just read it through, touch up any English grammar problems (like missing commas), and see if the hook is cited inline. On your review, note if it's new enough (created within 7 days of nomination), long enough (at least 1500 characters), and if a QPQ was done by the nominator. The only thing I would ask the nominator to do is suggest an alternate hook, since this one is rather repetitive. Good luck, Yoninah (talk) 20:51, 11 January 2015 (UTC)

To answer your question RNO is a reliable source. It is a Canadian soccer magazine and even though it does look a bit like a "fansite" they do good work and employ some good journalists in Canadian soccer. The two articles in question were interviews with the player himself. They do a lot of work covering guys outside of North America. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vince193 (talk • contribs)
SWP Notable members
I've left an explanation on the Talk page at Talk:Socialist Workers Party (UK)#Notable members. It is wholly unconstructive to remove the entire lists when several of them are not living, and almost all are verifiable in the articles (they are all bluelinked). Why not simply remove the ones that aren't verified (if there are any). They would only need a citation if they were not bluelinked (and I imagine also proof that they were 'notable'). Hello GiantSnowman, I think this question may well have arisen before but thought you might be the one to ask... just created another new article for CPFC player Peter Berry and whilst doing so came across this webpage re his brother Johnny Berry wherein Johnny's exact name is shown as different to that in his Wiki page. Am not sure how reliable the site may be but seems reasonably sound to me. (:P) I note that the page is also included in Johnny's article, which I haven't altered, basically on the grounds that it may be a sensitive issue. (Or am I being too cautious here?). Any thoughts? - Well, the Truppen 2015 (2015 roster) page on the club's official website doesn't mention him. I think that the problem about NFT or Soccerway is that we're talking of a very small club, and probably it's hard for them to update these informations abroad for non-professional teams... EDIT: I saw now that the page reports only few players. But I think that fotbolltransfers.com can be a reliable source, they post on their tables only those transfers officially happened. --OLW älskare (talk) 00:00, 23 January 2015 (UTC)

Hi GS, should have brought this up earlier, but per WP:3RR, I have been removing what seems to me to be the obvious and repeated addition of incorrect kits to this article. If you check my recent edit history you will see very very similar activity, all of it unreferenced, by what I assume is the same person, though it may not be, on a number of small / old American soccer teams. As it was to me clear vandalism and disruptive editing I thought it was fine to revert repeatedly, this happened quite a few months ago across another large number of small team articles and I thought the editors would go away. I have recently been accused of edit warring over this (I presume, the accuser made no reference to any article and I have it seen them before). As I said, I should have raised this earlier but am sorry I didn't. I think the page probably needs protecting. I won't revert again to avoid any potential further issues. Apparent block evasion by Grandare Grande
You blocked user:Grandare Grande. I have encountered the editor, logged-in and anonymously in the past. Speedy deletion nomination of ASAP Yams

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on ASAP Yams, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. ☾Loriendrew☽ ☏(talk) 02:38, 29 January 2015 (UTC)

Hi. You early have deleted one out three times the article Thomas Strakosha in the 2nd nomination, this for being a footballer which it's not yet an Fully Professional footballer. I was the creator of one time and again I'm still interested to create it, but see there if you try to create the article, it's "blocked" (for being deleted 3 times in a row I think), then what should we do if he make his first professional debut?. Bradford-Chelsea
It's definitely not "extra time", which is two periods of 15 minutes played after the completion of full time to break a tie in a cup competition. It is injury time, which is properly called 'stoppage time', or 'additional time' according to FIFA. This kinda explains it a bit better than I do. Daniel (talk) 12:16, 2 February 2015 (UTC)

SERIOUS MATTER
The Colombian harasser (http://wiki.alquds.edu/?query=User_talk:Xxxx693 this one, after my humble opinion in the Quique Flores article regarding the page name in this here WP, many users concurred with me but he resorted to viciously harass only me) is back (please see this IP http://wiki.alquds.edu/?query=Special:Contributions/191.95.251.219, only changes things regarding Mr. Flores, and is from Colombia so there).
I reverted him in Flores' article (where he again went against WP policy by inserting "Quique Sánchez Flores" as "playername"), but not in his other "contributions". I am being as honest as I can, if he returns to my page with his vomit-inducing antics, I most likely will respond accordingly.

Geoff Truett
Dear Sir, I do not think your edits on Truett were justified. I have provided references from four sources. I can, if you so wish put further references into the article. IT would have been politer to have spoken to me first. As a user of wikipedia for many years with numerous articles I am well aware of the rules. I worked on the information for the best part of two hours incidentally.(talk)
I feel your criticism of what I wrote was misguided. My entry improved considerably the stub. The existed info box did not include a place for death details. Your revisions became petty and whilst I can see that you have improved the references, I would contend that for such a minor entry they didn't need revising. Please ask me first rather than just removing my work. I knew Mr Truett quite well at one time. He wasn't a winger for most of his career but a powerful inside forward. It might have started as one but for Tonbridge he played down the middle. (talk)
Sorry for my attitude. I slept on it and can see why you insisted on more references. It was good discipline for me to hunt further for references. Keep up the good work. It would be nice if you didn't change everything I write unnecessarily. This is meant to be a democratic forum.(talk)
SERIOUS MATTER - Part 2
Has reverted me alright, calling me a crybaby and telling me to piss off from WP (http://wiki.alquds.edu/?query=Special:Contributions/191.95.251.133). I did not descend to his level, but reverted him again (I was so nervous I got my summary all wrong, I meant "the name of the article here is QUIQUE FLORES" and said "QUIQUE SÁNCHEZ FLORES" instead). Please help me shed WP light towards this person, please! --84.90.219.128 (talk) 22:02, 6 February 2015 (UTC)
- I have also backed up my storyline at Juan Carlos Rojo with references. Cheers man! --84.90.219.128 (talk) 03:39, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
Did I do anything in the presentation of this message, Rojo's article or my dealings with the IP? I apologize if so, you know I have the greatest esteem for you as an editor and a wikiperson! --84.90.219.128 (talk) 19:13, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
I meant overall, not just the IP (I hopefully improved Rojo's article, always my intention here mate). Since you express no concerns, I take it you are pleased with my work, which is always important to me (your opinion is always taken into high consideration by me!). One final thought: how 'bout protecting Quique Flores' article for a couple of days, is that feasible? --84.90.219.128 (talk) 19:20, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
WoolSalesman
Hi, you may want to unblock User:WoolSalesman or alternatively reblock with a different edit summary. The original account was blocked solely due to a Wikipedia:Username policy violation. Both the block summary and to some extent Wikipedia:Username policy allow anyone, and in fact to some extent encourage people with few edits (as does Wikipedia:Changing username), to simply register a new account when they are blocked for a username violation, so it wasn't block evasion to register the new account and WoolSalesman has also now linked the old account User:6TrillionLampshades to the new account. Not really the new account to the old account, although it's so few edits it doesn't really matter IMO. Of course if you feel WoolSalesman deserved to be blocked whatever their name, I don't personally care about that, but you may want to clarify the block summary. Unless of course they were evading another block and not simply that of 6TrillionLampshades. Nil Einne (talk) 13:39, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
- User talk:Nil Einne#WoolSalesman. OK, I see that you unblocked the account, but your sock puppet warning on User:WoolSalesman still says "6TrillionLampshades". Do you want to change that to "NOTHERE" or just remove it altogether? -- ToE 19:39, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
- User talk:Thinking of England#WoolSalesman. Done. And all I'm asserting here is that this was a public username change from 6TrillionLampshades to WoolSalesman, so claiming one to be the sock puppet of the other just doesn't make sense. They may be sock puppets of a different account, but I have nothing to add there. Cheers! -- ToE 00:42, 8 February 2015 (UTC)

Problematic IP editor on a rampage
Thanks you for acting on the IP editor who changed the name of the thread dealing with complaints against him.[1] Despite the actions of User:EdJohnston in putting IP blocks on several Jehovah's Witness-related topics earlier today, he is on a one-man crusade to inject pro-JW POV in a widening range of articles. He makes threats, does not discuss and instantly reverts any attempts to neutralise his behavior. No admin has yet shown any interest in the problem, which is fast getting out of hand. Any help you can lend would be appreciated. BlackCab (TALK) 10:30, 8 February 2015 (UTC)
- Hey now! It's a good thing I looked at your contributions so I noticed you talking about me without letting me know. We've been discussing this at the ANI thread, and all the outside opinions have been in my favor. When I saw that you and a couple others were reverting my edits and refusing to discuss them constructively, I disengaged and moved to other articles, but you have been following me around, stalking and reverting my edits. I just want to go our separate ways, but I see that you have a 5+ year history of WP:OWN tactics on certain religious articles, so I suggest a topic ban or break from these articles might be good for you and one or two others. Every edit I make is in line with sources and neutral POV. 73.11.72.255 (talk) 10:35, 8 February 2015 (UTC)

Hi GS, today I Prodded a reasonably large number of player / season articles relating to Udon Thani F.C. which, since they play in the regional third tier of Thai football I thought were essentially wholly unnotable per WP:NSEASONS and WP:NFOOTY. Unfortunately all these articles were created by the same user who has begun leaving mildly threatening (well more irritating than threatening) messages on my talk page, has also started the obvious vandalism of a number of Bhutanese football club articles that I have worked on which can easily be seen from his talk page and has now threatened to start messing with other articles if I don't remove the Prod. I wonder whether a word from an admin might have a bit more impact? Fenix down (talk) 17:20, 6 February 2015 (UTC)

Hi. I have reverted your revert regarding his playing football for Royal Engineers. Can you cite a source that says that he even served with the REs? I have researched him on Ancestry and have found his date of birth (14 Apr 1858 in Battersea) and death (25 Mar 1944 in Surrey). I have also found his marriage details when he married Marie Louise White on 2 Sept 1880 when he is described as a "solicitor's clerk" aged 22. When his knighthood was gazetted, he was simply "Esquire" - if he had served as an officer in the REs, his military rank would be given. Do you have a copy of his book? He is certainly an interesting subject but I don't have the time to research him any further. Best wishes Bikeroo (talk) 07:25, 10 February 2015 (UTC)

Read my comment at WT:FOOTY#Nemanja Matić and you can use infobox and say it already exist on article, infobox is SUMMARY of article, if you remove in stats section then there is no source for the infobox. It looks like someone got the documentation wrong
... on Template:Infobox football biography, referring to "tandard formatting for these infoboxes".
Take a look at the documentation at the underlying Template:Infobox, which shows – in my opinion – the correct way of coding infoboxes (+ navboxes, sidebars, and similar templates). There are good reasons for having a blank before and after the pipe:
- a blank after the pipe prevents it being confused with lower-case "L", upper-case "I" and similar characters, or being read as such.
- a blank before the pipe makes the underlying structure of the code very clear. It is immediately obvious where each template begins and ends. Moreover, for people with poor eyesight, it can be hard to distinguish the pipe jammed right up against the edge of the edit box.
Plus it just looks so much cleaner! And remember, we do need to consider the needs of editors whose eyesight is less than perfect.
In my opinion, it would also be good also to have a blank line between each block of parameters with the same numeric suffix. It is very easy to get the suffixes wrong, so that might help avoid a few more errors.
Regards, --NSH002 (talk) 15:59, 12 February 2015 (UTC)
- (response moved from NSH001)
- But in Template:Infobox/doc#Examples there aren't any spaces between the pipe and the text. If there's no actual impact on content/formatting (your comments relating to poor eyesight / it looking cleaner are mere editing constraints) then why change it? Like I said this type of formatting is present on tens of thousands of articles and, as I edit thousands myself a month (and have done for a helluva long time!), I can assure you I have never seen any issues with editors getting confused about the | etc., other than one-off IPs who wouldn't have been able to adequately code even if there was a space! GiantSnowman 16:08, 12 February 2015 (UTC)
- No, look again, there are plenty of examples (in fact most of them) with the correct formatting, starting with the examples right at the top of the page. It's basically good coding practice. I'm a firm believer in making code easy to visually parse, since it helps avoid errors, improves understanding of the underlying structure and speeds up editing. The very fact that an error arose on Jean-Louis Heinrich, which you didn't immediately spot, illustrates the point quite well. I spend a lot of my NSH002 time cleaning up errors, and I am sure that a lot of them arise because typical wikicode is so difficult to visually parse. "Why change it?" - well I won't revert if it's a case of code formatting only (wastes too much time dealing with trivialities), but I will tidy it up if there's an error or something else that needs fixing.

- Yeah, that 'error' was mine from 2012 - it was a typo and nothing to do with the formatting... GiantSnowman 18:44, 12 February 2015 (UTC)

another question please .. .because it is getting frustrated for me i just added goals conceded for https://wiki.alquds.edu/?query=Marc-Andr%C3%A9_ter_Stegen on international level only!! which is clear easy straight fact and someone says now no consensus and he reverted it !!! it just getting boring for me people just revert alot of changes!! i don't think wikipedia should be based on opinion even on the way data is entered ! as long as the data is correct i don't see the reason to revert it .

I don't know what do you have against me in this approach (like my summary said, first it was Pedro María Herrera), I offer no POV in such sentences, only a very minor summary of their careers. Thus, one can read only the article of (in this case) the son and be "satisfied", without having to click in his actual article.
Don't want, however, to soil our wiki-relation and/or start pointless edit wars. Don't worry, article stays your way I will leave it in peace. Attentively --84.90.219.128 (talk) 21:25, 14 February 2015 (UTC)

Re: February 2015
Hello and nice to meet you. You're right, I did not prove the changes by any link. I just did so because I live in Tunisia and that player played today his second game in the local league, and scored a goal. But Wikipedia's pages rely on links from reliable sources. Thank you for correcting me. I will try to put reliable links on his page later. Alexsd27 (talk) 18:36, 18 February 2015 (UTC)
Howard Newton - What are you doing?
Hi, for some reason you've undone a correct edit - Wikipedia isn't supposed to have out of date info. Howard Newton now plays for Tooting and Mitcham Utd, I'm a fan of that team and have seen him play. Just because I can't find a source on the internet doesn't mean it's not true. I tell you what, I'll take a pictur of him playing for TMUFC, put it on the internet and use the link - Will that be good enough for you??? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Maarlon (talk • contribs)
Doubt
As I told at WP:FOOTY (dunno if you saw it or not), I'm not doubting your reasoning, just curious mate: how is it possible that Jonas Gutiérrez (or any other player for that matter) is allowed to play for Newcastle's youths at almost 32? Didn't they use to have a reserves championship in England? Is it extinct now?

- "Because the correct date of birth is 1957!" Even if the correct date is 1957, which I could not know, I just corrected the date to fix the automatic miscalculation of his age. How is that "vandalism"? Is it necessary to be rude when somebody tries to help?
- I did not saw you left this in the page, I thought it was an automatic message from Wikipedia. I think Wikipedia is a great website, however I never edited any article in the past. I think it's sad when somebody edits an article that old users feel that they are the only legitimate people allowed to edit pages and other people are "vandalizing" Wikipedia. Greeting and salutations.
You may think that wikilinking initially England or United States is overlinking, but my perspective is that of being on a lookout to serve all comers, and that includes people who do not know any English, and are perusing the main space trying to figure out the meaning of what they see with the help of wikilinking. I am quite sure (12 year vet of Wikipedia, so something of a graybeard myself) that the policy you used to overturn my amelioration was not meant to apply here. Reflist parameters
Hello. If it's one of AWB's general fixes to put {{reflist|2}}
, someone should tell the developers that the format has been deprecated for a year or so now. Where there are only a few refs, we're supposed to not use columns at all, and where there are enough to warrant putting them in columns, we're recommended to use {{reflist|30em}}
. See Template:Reflist#Columns. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 14:49, 1 March 2015 (UTC)

NAC revert
Hi, GiantSnowman. If any admin (Martijn, probably) closed the discussion, they'd have listed the templates under 'To orphan' in WP:TFD/HC, where they'd have been probably left to rot. This is extremely common in TFD; templates are often not deleted immediately. In the knowledge that I'm one of the few—if not the only one—who's using AWB to mass-remove and -convert templates, where there's consensus to do so, I: closed the discussion; carried out the orphaning; and listed the templates under 'Ready to delete'. Essentially, I've saved us all some time by skipping a step, which would've been to list the templates under a different heading, and apply {{Being deleted}} to each one. I've got to ask, what was the point of reverting my close? Alakzi (talk) 12:14, 5 March 2015 (UTC)

Thanks, MYS77 ✉ 20:47, 14 March 2015 (UTC)
- @MYS77: Sorry to butt in, but I see no explanation on that user's talk page: perhaps you've explained it to the same user at a different IP address talk, in which case please ignore me. I do see some comments via edit summary, but that isn't how we're supposed to expalin stuff to inexperienced editors making mistakes. Most newcomers don't know what an edit summary is, let alone read them or realise what's written there might apply to their editing. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 13:14, 15 March 2015 (UTC)
- @Struway2: The question is: in both pages there's already a comment saying that we should only include Brasileirão apps, so the user is disrespecting the guidelines on purpose. @GiantSnowman: Thanks, if he continues to bother I'll do this. Cheers, MYS77 ✉ 14:06, 15 March 2015 (UTC)
- @MYS77: What "both pages"? If you mean your edit summaries, here and as linked above, I repeat: that isn't explanation. Editors, particularly inexperienced anonymous editors, don't necessarily even see page histories and edit summaries. As said above, if you have explained these guidelines on a talk page somewhere and I haven't seen it, then feel free to point it out to me. Otherwise, I think issuing a final warning for what is quite possibly genuine ignorance seems a touch OTT. And apologies to GiantSnowman for taking over his talk page :( cheers, Struway2 (talk) 14:25, 15 March 2015 (UTC)
- @Struway2: - not a problem, seriously. GiantSnowman 14:28, 15 March 2015 (UTC)
- @Struway2: Dodô | years1 = 2013– | clubs1 = [[Clube Atlético Mineiro|Atlético Mineiro]] | caps1 = 10 | goals1 = 4 <!-- BRASILEIRÃO ONLY! -->. To me, this is well-explained. MYS77 ✉ 14:33, 15 March 2015 (UTC)
- @MYS77: Thank you for pointing that out. That sort of hidden note can sometimes be helpful in general. But when you're dealing with a specific editor, it takes no time at all to add a brief meaningful message of explanation to an editor's talk page, the first time you come across them editing contrary to custom. Then if they do continue, there'll be little doubt as to whether they're doing it deliberately or not. On another note, you might want to restrict your edit summaries to summarising your own edits. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 15:05, 15 March 2015 (UTC)

200.216.145.154/189.12.67.70/177.59.99.149 seems to be the same fella, making unsourced edits to the caps of players who have played for Corinthian, seems a bit strange.
User:Infoantg1, who I think might be Antoine Gounet himself, keeps persistently changing the Brentford caps of Antoine Gounet to 1, when all he appeared in for Brentford was 1 FA Cup game. Warned him, no response. Notified him that I had brought him to the attention of Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring, but those fellas just moved it to the archives.

Of course, what I "think" is not a WP rule, that does not make me a vandal but it is indeed a bit disruptive I admit. --84.90.219.128 (talk) 19:27, 29 March 2015 (UTC)

GS, AL "here",
my latest work in this player has been reverted, even though I ref'd it. Can you please check if my current "effort" (relocated refs from intro - did not know they were forbidden there, news to me! - rephrased from "tremendously powerful shot" to "powerful shot" which is not POV, it's neutral info, "trallazo" is a powerful shot in English, or a "rocket" in football terminology) is wiki-acceptable? If still not, please suggest suggestions (pardon for the redundancy) and I will duly oblige.

Strange users 2
Sorry if I shouldn't be putting this here, it's just that you oversee alot of football pages and I don't know who to contact regarding these "problem" users:

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Dejan Savićević, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page FK Budućnost. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Sockpuppetry
Hi GS, how are you?
User:Ryan Charlton 100 and User:Baboo-Raz are sock puppets of blocked user Ryan Charlton (the first one is very obvious, only included a "100" in his name). If you check all of their edits, you'll see they're pretty much equal and in the same pages (CA Osasuna, Salisbury City F.C. and other season pages).
It's not the first time that this guy is warned about sock puppetry (he was indefinitely blocked thanks to that!)
Can you please take a look at this?
Thanks, MYS77 ✉ 02:27, 14 April 2015 (UTC)
Darian MacKinnon
Hello, you reverted the edit I made to the Darian MacKinnon article the other day, where I had removed his amateur level clubs from the infobox. I would concede there is some scope for debate on the subject, so perhaps it was unwise of me to have done so without discussion. My reason for doing so was that the instructions for using the football biography infobox specify that the "clubs1" etc. parameters are for listing professional clubs the player has been with. I interpreted this to mean clubs in national senior leagues, possibly non-league professional (or semi-pro) leagues but not necessarily clubs at this sort of level which are basically 'public park' teams. I can see, however, that it could be taken to mean any adult teams of whatever standing. I think we might need to seek further opinions on this one, so I'll initiate some discussion on the WkiProject Football talk page. Cheers, Jellyman (talk) 18:53, 14 April 2015 (UTC)

- @Royroydeb: I do not share the concerns of our fellow editors above, however I do feel that you are adding a lot of trivial/routine information. We do not need a running commentary on a player's career - "he did this, scored that, in this minute" etc. it's just overkill. Please bear it in mind in future. the 74.105... editors on sight for block evasion, last night's one's here. The previous couple were 74.105.184.77 and 74.105.184.90, for what it's worth. Daresay a range block's impractical? cheers, Struway2 (talk) 08:09, 18 April 2015 (UTC)
- Also, if you fancy giving this one a little holiday, seeing as they started again this morning after a final warning yesterday... They don't just update stats without a proper datestamp, they intersperse doing that with changing stats at random and changing players' clubs. It's the same editor as the multiply-warned 81.132.218.159, who stopped after they got a final warning: the IPs geolocate to the same place, which doesn't necessarily prove anything, but they also use the same odd phrasing as each other. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 08:33, 18 April 2015 (UTC)

Changes to to WP:FPL
When commenting on their talk page, I just noticed you've had some run-ins with Abcmaxx as well. I'd appreciate your support in dealing with this user's attempt to force changes to WP:FPL without discussion. I'm hoping comments from a previously uninvolved editor and administrator will make it clear that undiscussed changes to that page are not okay. Also, blocking both of us (Abcmaxx and myself) for edit-warring may not be an unreasonable course of action, but I'll leave that up to you, assuming you're not too involved with them elsewhere. Thanks in advance. Sir Sputnik (talk) 05:05, 20 April 2015 (UTC)
Olympiacos Changes
Olympiacos last night win the championship in Greece. All player which are in the roster must be update. What is your problem?? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dante77782 (talk • contribs)
Could you do me a favour and permanently fully protect this template? A couple of editors have been attempting to make the same change to it for a couple of years now (it started in August 2013), and despite discussions and even an RFC, there has never been a consensus for their edits and they have repeatedly returned every few months to make the same edits. It's getting rather tiresome, so unfortunately I see full protection as the only way of forcing them into getting consensus. It's already been protected once, but they returned after it was unprotected. Cheers, Number 57 19:26, 20 April 2015 (UTC)
- I'm not sure there's any use in discussing it with the parties already involved. A new RfC with further outside input would probably be preferable. I'm just sick of seeing this appear on my watchlist, and I don't think they'll stop until they've got what they want. Number 57 19:36, 20 April 2015 (UTC)

Gringoladomenega
Gringoladomenega is back. SLBedit (talk) 22:42, 28 April 2015 (UTC)
User:Gringoladomenega may have been fairly blocked in the past here or there, but in the articles (or two of the articles) that led to this report (Léo (footballer, born 1990) and Alan Kardec) he is 100% right, and I elaborate: 1 - the name of the article is Associação Portuguesa de Desportos, and Linense does not have stats appearing in the infobox because it's only regional appearances, not national ones; 2 - player is known as Kardec, period, not Alan Kardec, and you show that in the start of every paragraph, then "he" or "the player" suffices until the next paragraph (more or less an example could be João Vieira Pinto, yes for some he is known by all three surnames, but when we mention him in a storyline, "Pinto" suffices). Don't understand why Mr. SLB is reverting there, my two cents.
Having said that, I am only here to serve as a mediator after being contacted by Mr. Gringo (who is definitely not a vandal, even though his many blocks belie that statement), and profited by leaving my opinion above. I'm not touching those two articles with a 10-feet pole, rest assured, no warring from me.
Attentively, to all parties involved --84.90.219.128 (talk) 00:52, 29 April 2015 (UTC)
- Agreed with Vasco there. Gringo isn't wrong in these cases, and SLB is reverting him for nothing. Cheers, MYS77 ✉ 03:51, 29 April 2015 (UTC)
- I'm not reverting "him" for nothing. The guy (BenjaWF, Gringoladomenega) wants to change dates in Alan Kardec by force. SLBedit (talk) 17:31, 30 April 2015 (UTC)
- @SLBedit: - I need more than that I am afraid, you would need to open a WP:SPI with evidence to show that this is the same editor (WP:DUCK) - a CheckUser will not link a named account to an IP address. @EdJohnston:, who blocked Gringoladomenega in the first place, might be able to assist further.
