Daniel Carriço - Doubt
Hi there SNOWY, happy 2013,
i am not going to enter an edit war of course with a user in this player's article, so i ask you to clear me on this one: are SUBSTITUTE (ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL) and CAPTAIN (ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL) irrelevant links as the user points out (on the grounds that English users know what those words mean)? A bit baffling, if they were irrelevant the links would not exist in the first place correct?

Up to no good
Hard to trace because his actions are located in the STATISTICS chart below, who more often than not receive little attention,
this "user" Jonkoleta is clearly a vandal, inflating statistics of players. See Julio Álvarez and Mariano Pavone for examples (here http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Julio_%C3%81lvarez&diff=499948886&oldid=499450631 and here http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Mariano_Pavone&diff=499944314&oldid=498217191), full list of "contributions" here (http://wiki.alquds.edu/?query=Special:Contributions/Jonkoleta). Yes, has not edited in months, but wouldn't it be nice that when he returned (if), he'd find himself (duly) blocked?

I'm curious about your restoring this article. As far as I can tell, the only source confirming his appearances for Zambia is nationalfootballteams, which isn't exactly reliable. Soccerway, footballdatabase, MTMfootball, transfermarkt, and goal.com (the latter two of course being unreliable in their own right) all put his international caps at zero, as do the French, Italian, and Polish Wikipedia articles. Given such obvious ambiguity on a point so essential establishing notability, I have to wonder whether the inclusion of this article is appropriate. This was why I put the article up for speedy deletion a week ago. Maybe I'm missing something. In any case, I was hoping to get insight as to why you thought this article should be restored. Cheers. Hey, GS, about Jordan Clement...
Not a big deal or anything, but could you consider removing the PROD tag you put on this article as a sign of good faith? (I don't know the first thing about non-American football, either the sport itself or the Wikipedia standards for it, so I'm loath to do it myself). Boomage has been blocked for a week, but I think he might be sincere in his acknowledgement of why he was blocked, and it seems a bit...I dunno, unclassy of us (not you in particular!) to put up a PROD while he can't respond. I feel like, once he's gotten over this funk that he's in about things like deletions and Cluebot, he could actually be a good editor. It's totally up to you, of course, and if the outcome is really obvious, then PROD probably won't do harm and will just save time. (I can't emphasize enough how little I know about football.) Just...keep it in mind, okay? Writ Keeper ⚇♔ 18:13, 9 January 2013 (UTC)

Delinquent1904
Hi. Several weeks ago you instructed delinquent1904 to not remove source content and take the matter to the talk page. He has failed to heed your warning subsequent times. [1] and most recently here. The "useful info" he speaks of is really a slanted POV that Dana White was on a slander campaign to dvalue the fighter. The other was one saying that Fedor's old manager was out to get him as well. Basically this person has non neutral POV and the only thing to back it up is an interview from his website. The other one about the slander from Dana White is a yahoo sports article that doesn't mention the word slander once. I have posted on his talk page trying to sort it out, if you check the fighters talkpage all there is is me talking to myself. It was also pointed out to me that is within any uninvolved administrators discretion to impose what they see fit because of sanctions within the MMA sphere here on Wikipedia. Thank you for your time. PortlandOregon97217 (talk) 20:14, 9 January 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you. I just have one further question on the matter. Does it count as edit warring when the content in question is libelous? The article currently saying that UFC president Dana White launching a slander campaign against Fedor strikes me as libelous. Ditto on the accusations that Fedor/his brothers former manager was using his position with the National Sambo Federation to deny them a higher rank. Answer
Per your question, "I just don't understand what it means to have an alternative account 'to become an admin.'" I edit solely under the condition of anonymity. That is paramount to me, and the less anyone knows about me the better. As an admin, I will become quite well known, way too well known for comfort, but by limiting my editing to narrowly defined topics it helps maintain that anonymity. So I picked RM, RCP and solar as the sole topics, basically one narrowly defined topic and two useful project wide areas that require admin assistance.
So no, creating a separate account does not improve anyone's chances of becoming an admin, and that is not why it was done.
Technically I do not even need to link them in any way unless I am editing policy/guideline pages. One thing that Wikipedia does require, though, is the fourth pillar, treating others as you would like to be treated, also known as the golden rule, currently worded as "Editors should interact with each other in a respectful and civil manner" as kind of a watered down version of the golden rule, and of the five pillars the wording has changed the most over the years, starting out as "Wikipedia follows the writers' rules of engagement", making it sound more like fencing instructions, sort of like either "rules of war" which I always thought of as either a dichotomy or an oxymoron (Christians spend endless hours explaining that Jesus did not really mean that loving your enemies nonsense, er, er... what I really mean is...; Muslims have the same problem), or sort of like Robert's Rules of Order, as if there were long established writers' rules of engagement. Anyway, when I become an admin, as I see no reason for that not happening, I expect to make you and everyone proud of having supported my RfA. Wish me luck! Apteva (talk) 19:46, 11 January 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for clarifying
Makes a bit more sense now. GiantSnowman 11:21, 12 January 2013 (UTC)
- It is not an ideal situation, but I try to keep everything as separate as possible. It is odd I get banned from talking about "eggs" and then someone wants to move the dairy section to the front of the store and I comment on that because it makes no sense (to the store), and get accused of talking about "eggs", even though what I am discussing has nothing to do with eggs. So why is it suddenly okay now that I am topic banned from "eggs" for them to bring up dairy and not expect me to reply? I sense, lets topic ban everyone who does not agree with us about eggs under the ruse that we are tired of talking about "eggs", and then discuss eggs as soon as they are gone. I see at WP:AN a couple of requests for Arbcom to visit the issue, but they do not deal with content, only conduct, so I am not sure why that suggestion was made. One of those who made that suggestion had previously proposed a community wide moratorium on talking about "eggs" for a year, something that I have made perfectly clear that I willing to follow. As long as we can freely discuss dairy... Apteva (talk) 22:45, 12 January 2013 (UTC)

Howdy. The guy still refuses to use the talk page. Another user jumped in and we havebeen making progress. Anyway here is the link to this guy adding back libelous info that doesnt have reliable independent sources. Please don't refer to Soccerbase for Scottish football stats! It is wrong for just about every player in Scottish football history! Salty1984 (talk) 22:50, 12 January 2013 (UTC)
There are plenty of match reports on the BBC website showing he was playing against Albion Rovers, but I'm not putting up a reference for every mistake that the Racing Post makes on their dreadful website (that is two for one player in the main cup competition in Scotland, imagine how many more there are when we are allowed trialists, etc)! Hey, can you look through the edit history on United States men's national under-17 soccer team? I think we may have sockpuppetry involved in this. Norwegian vandal
Hi there GS, AL "here",
following this block you handed for persistent blanking (at Imanol Agirretxe or Álvaro Negredo for example - speaking of the latter, guess the "user" now, besides removing B-teams, also inflates stats!), just to notify you that the person also "contributes" with this IP (please see here http://wiki.alquds.edu/?query=Special:Contributions/88.89.136.46, also duly warned). And the User:Agirretxe account - guess they were vandalizing the page with the anon IP, thought of a name for account and...voilá! - is also HIGHLY suspicious. Suspicious? It's him, i bet my life on it!

A right mess
Hi GS. It would appear that I have made a right mess of three articles (one topic).
- Rakhapura United (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs), original article and with the edit history; should definitely be kept in some form
- Rakhine United FC (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs), new name of the team, created 4 January
- Rakhine United F.C. (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs), alternative spelling of the new name of the team, created 12 January
After being bold and redirecting the third to the second, I found out that the first existed as a redirect with a whole article inside of the redirect (if that makes sense?) The course of action I am requesting is to undo edits to the first article since this version and to then move the page to the title of the second article, retaining Rakhapura United as a redirect. Thanks, C679 09:22, 17 January 2013 (UTC)
- I should say, this is a cut and paste move, although I didn't realise at the time, and most of my edits to these articles should be reverted. Thanks, C679 09:27, 17 January 2013 (UTC)

2013 AFCON squads
The table of players per league can also be seen on the 2010 FIFA World Cup squads. That table doesn't have citations either. The data is drawn from squad lists on the squad page, and the squads are referenced. Therefore I feel that the table should be returned. Crazydude22 (talk) 18:31, 19 January 2013 (UTC)
- If the tables are against the rules, then please remove them from the FIFA and UEFA articles. I think that they are simple calculations, which are allowed. Crazydude22 (talk) 18:57, 19 January 2013 (UTC)
- I'd like to see someone else raise an issue with the table then, as I don't see a problem with it, or any issues raised with the tables on other pages. I will revert your edit, and open a discussion on the matter. Crazydude22 (talk) 09:43, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
WikiProject Football assessment
Hi GS. Saw you created some articles for ACON players, no doubt bored into it by the two goalless draws yesterday! Just to let you know that players who have represented a national team, such as any player who gets game time in the tournament, should be rated as Mid importance per the guidelines at Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Assessment. I saw one, that's why I am writing this message, but if there are more, please change them. Thanks, C679 11:33, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
- I thought the point of assessment is to be objective, i.e. according to a defined criteria. If you are making a subjective call based on an arbitrary number of appearances per NT or some pre-conceived idea of which NTs are "more important" then we may as well not have these ratings at all. Just saying. Thanks, C679 11:39, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
- Is it time for a review of "importance" at WT:FOOTY then? I know some WikiProjects do away with it completely. I have used having won a national league as sufficing for "nationwide notability" but I agree that is in itself subjective. However with the international players there is a clear line. Thanks, C679 11:57, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
I have added a citation of a well known greek sports portal. The article reproduces the official announcement of Iraklis FC for the signing of Tuni. Note that if I ever add unreferenced content that's because of lack of time or inattention. Please assume good faith and ask me to fix the issues of problematic articles I've edited before reverting it. Be sure I'll do it asap. Cheers comrade. Hansi667 (talk) 11:51, 20 January 2013 (UTC)

Hi there GS
re: "reluctant". Good question, and I don't have an answer quite yet. At this point it's more a 'gut feeling' than anything, so I'm not sure how to put it into words at the moment. Let me think on it a bit and I'll get back to you. There's certainly nothing I see that would raise an oppose from my side - more just an uneasy feeling I'm not sure how to express yet. — Ched : ? 11:59, 21 January 2013 (UTC)
- OK - I'll give it a shot here. (and if you feel it would be better to move this to say the RfA talk page or something, that's fine with me too.)
- First - I see no objective evidence that Lord Roem would be a bad admin; but there is some sort of gut feeling that troubles me. First, I'm not real enthusiastic about self anointed titles such as "Lord"; while not technically a username violation, it's simply poor taste and a lack of maturity to some extent in my view.
- Second - as pointed out by others there's also a "dotting the "I"s and crossing the "T"s while jumping through hoops in saying "all the right things" that makes me uneasy.
- Third - I don't see any real "conflicts" with the user to judge how they will respond to adversity. Although they have worked on some "mediation" issues, I'm not seeing anything to judge how they would deal with a tough issue where they were personally involved.
- Fourth - Questions 3 (which go to my third point above) and question 4 I felt the responses left something to be desired.
- Fifth - The whole "arb clerk" followed by "arb noms" leaves me feeling the user is being "fast tracked" into position.
- Now for me to oppose on any or all of the above would be a violation of AGF I think. When I try to be objective about it, I don't think it's fair to him/her that I should oppose - hence my "reluctant" support. (I do try to be fair.). To be honest, over the years I have often gotten cynical w/r/t adminship. I've seen my share of arrogance and problematic behavior from admins in the past, so I do try to be aware that perhaps it's that which is clouding my thinking. I also didn't want to try to actively undermine the user's RfA, so I just kept things brief and replied to you rather than make a fuss at the RfA. Perhaps it's a bit convoluted, but I hope that explains my thinking a bit. — Ched : ? 23:16, 21 January 2013 (UTC)
Lešinari
Hi there, Snowman. I need some help from an admin, and I thought you could help out. I closed Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Lešinari as redirect, as it seemed like an uncontroversial closure. User:Nado158 reverted my redirection of Lešinari twice, and I redid the redirect and sent him a message that if he objected the closure of the AfD he should do a WP:DRV. Instead, the user again reverted the redirection and expanded the article, and wrote a comment in the closed AfD. I don't know how to solve this problem, but I think it's inapprpiate to have an AfD closed as redirect while the article continues to be a stand-alone article, and I don't want to start a edit-war over this. I would like that someone with "the tools" should solve this, and I'd be happy if you could step in as admin and do what needs to be done (I have no opinion whether that is to redirect the article and protect it, open a DRV, or leave the article as it is). i was about to write you in regards with this article: i thought my refs were enough, i see they are not, you restored the tags. Where do you feel the info is not correctly sourced still?
Sorry for my "wiki-impertinence", regards! --AL (talk) 16:55, 23 January 2013 (UTC)

Brendan Rodgers
I suggest that you go fuck yourself.
His son, already mentioned on Rodgers' page, has gone on trial charged with serious criminal charges: how exactly is writing one referenced sentence on that giving "undue" weight to the story? You're being entirely ridiculous and probably biased (do you support LFC?): it's an important story, which has gained significant media attention. Rodgers has also attended the trial. I'm going to continue adding this. And I don't care if you abuse your discretionary powers to try and have me banned: I know that I am right and that your bias is clouding your judgement. Shame on you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.116.22.216 (talk) 15:37, 24 January 2013 (UTC)
Templates for deletion
I saw some templates down for deletion, these ones (TfD) I was wondering if there is a page in the project with those formatted tables? Because it would be a useful resource for editors. Govvy (talk) 17:09, 24 January 2013 (UTC)
You see on "Manual of style" part of the project page, I've never noticed anything about use of tables, like the example you just posted on my talk page just now. I was wondering if those tables from those templates that are TfD should be under a manual of style page. Govvy (talk) 17:23, 24 January 2013 (UTC)
What I am trying to say there is no Manual of style for wikitables for footy is there? Govvy (talk) 17:34, 24 January 2013 (UTC)
Hello GS - Chris Cerroni Article
The World University Games are a major international amateur and professional competition only second to the Olympics and recognized by FIFA. Chris Cerroni has had representation at two of these major events. Please see below as quoted in Wikipedia.
“Wikipedia:Notability (sports)
Notability guidelines on sports persons Generally acceptable standards Sports figures are presumed notable (except as noted within a specific section) if they: have participated in a major international amateur or professional competition at the highest level such as the Olympics.”
The Major Indoor Soccer League is a professional league within USA and recognized by FIFA. Please see below as quoted by Wikipedia.
”Major Indoor Soccer League (2001–2008) From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Major Indoor Soccer League was the top professional indoor soccer league in the USA. The league was a member of both the United States Soccer Federation and FIFA. The MISL had replaced the NPSL which folded in 2001. According to MISL.net, the league ceased operations as of May 31, 2008. "We are considering structural changes that will bring us greater efficiencies, while also allowing long term growth and expansion of the League," said John Hantz, former Chairman of the MISL, and Owner/Operator of the Detroit Ignition.[1] All the teams from MISL went to the new indoor leagues: NISL, PASL-PRO and the XSL. The NISL and XSL used the same playing rules as the MISL.”
I do believe that the article on Chris Cerroni has more than enough evidence on validating an article on this subject. Sources have been added and due to this proposed deletion the article has been improved with further validating material from a number of different sources.
I would respectfully suggest that the article not be deleted but a review on the update of Major indoor soccer be recognized, as this is a sport that has and continues to draw crowds of thousands with six figure player salaries.

Hi there GS,
quite a handful we have in this coach's article. The subject's agent/publicist continues to say his article is not neutral (it IS!) and continues to revert us (refs included) even though we told him this is not how it works around here.
I would expect this behaviour from a lowlife or a vandal (sometimes they come in pairs), but not from a person who claims to be what this guy does. Puzzling indeed...

Delhi Football League
Hey Snowman. Just wanted to tell you that the page, 2013 Delhi Senior Divison League, may actually be eligable for speedy under A.10. I already created an article on this season's Delhi league before the user created the other article already mentioned, but I used the actual name which should have been 2013 DSA Senior Division. Just thought I let you know about that. Also I unPRODed the article Delhi Senior Division as I was able to expand on the article to establish notability that the league is, in fact, the top football league in the state of Delhi. I also renamed that page to its correct name. Cheers. --ArsenalFan700 (talk) 20:00, 26 January 2013 (UTC)

do you have any idea as to why the PC update in this guy's box is not showing? Thank you very much in advance and happy week --AL (talk) 19:33, 27 January 2013 (UTC)

Joe Paladino Article
Hi,
You undid an edit I made to the article on Joe Paladino earlier today.
The article states in the first paragraph that "He is currently the Assistant Manager of Rossendale United."
As Rossendale United ceased to exist in June 2011 when they were expelled from the North West Counties Football League, the statement above is obviously incorrect.
Mr. Paladino joined New Mills as (officially) the goalkeeping coach at New Mills earlier this season but as he spends most Saturdays in the dugout along with the current New Mills manager, Roy Soule, he is effectively the assistant manager of New Mills.
A brief excursion on the New Mills website (http://www.newmillsafc.co.uk/clubinfo.htm) verifies this information.
Sadly, I do not have the nous to include a reference to my edit without the fear of cocking up the whole article, hence the perfuntory nature of my edit.
Nonetheless, I can assure you that the few edits I ever make to Wikipedia (probably no more than half a dozen to date) are always based 100% on fact. I do not make frivolous or malicious edits.
Also sadly, due to my infrequent activity, I have forgotten my log in details. I have requested new details by entering my e-mail address and have been informed that an e-mail has been sent. It hasn't arrived. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.148.98.79 (talk) 20:47, 28 January 2013 (UTC)

- Ah, I was more asking if you thought it was enough to remove the 'refimprove' tag, since you were the one who added it. (I thought the original refs were sufficient and clear, but I am glad I found more. I don't remove tags I don't make unless they're objectively wrong, like when someone added an 'orphan' tag to an article I made that already had three other articles linking to it. That one really confused me...) CyMoahk (talk) 15:55, 29 January 2013 (UTC)
João Carlos Pereira - Updates
I have tried my "bestest" to improve the article, my second (anon) summary will be self-evident, but please reinstate the tag if you still feel it is necessary. This is no José Mourinho, Jorge Jesus or Domingos Paciência (to cite three of my country's most known coaches), refs are only available in Portuguese man.
Will this be enough to avoid the "wiki-raids" by the manager's agent/publicist? I doubt it very much, but one can only hope... --AL (talk) 17:01, 29 January 2013 (UTC)

Paul Scharner
Hello. Was wondering why you removed most of the critical content of Paul Scharner#Image on BLP grounds, while leaving the favourable content. The removed content was accurately sourced to an article in an Austrian national newspaper, provoked by his latest walkout from the Austrian team, that described him as still a "maverick" and highlighted the five biggest "scandals" of a controversial career. Could have done with copyediting by a native speaker, which would perhaps recast the opening sentence as less of an announcement of fact, but I couldn't see anything so contentious as to need immediate removal on BLP grounds? cheers, Struway2 (talk) 14:24, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
- Sorry, I missed your removal of the reference to Norway and England being more positive. I'd have no argument with that.
As to the first paragraph, I presume by "unsourced", you must mean "without an inline reference immediately after each sentence". As I said above, the content of the first paragraph, apart from the tone of the first sentence, was sourced to and verifiable from the references at the end of that paragraph. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 14:40, 1 February 2013 (UTC)

I'm going crazy over this article, and don't get me talking about User:Struway2, the poor chap has tried everything (including well-explained edit summaries) and they don't care. Happy Adminship Anniversary
I wonder if you might consider nominating User:Always Learning for Editor of the Week. ```Buster Seven Talk 09:34, 5 February 2013 (UTC)
- I don't deserve it, i hardly ever comply with ALL of the site rules and proceedings, lots of people more deserving of the honours, only in the football field, let alone overall. Thanks for the kind words (i have to assume it's not a joke), and i also profit from this "moment" to congratulate GS on his administrator anniversary! --AL (talk) 14:15, 5 February 2013 (UTC)
- Sorry, I should have explained. I am one of the half-dozen editors that have initiated the Editor of the Week. We distribute one every Sunday evening from a, so far, small queue of nominations. We began Jan 15, 2013 and have distributed 4 Awards. I personally have nominated 4 editors for the award and have been "shaking the trees" for more. I came upon Always Learning and with a little history-loooking saw that he was a great candidate. I also noticed that you, Giant Snowman, were often in communication with him and summized that you, or someone like you, would have more experience having worked with User:AL and know User:AL much better than I could. I also realized that the award would have much more meaning coming from a collaborator rather than just a fellow editor. You two, Snowman and Learning, were my first attempt at out-reach and I see I should be more informative at my initial contact. I also see that I forgot to consider that the recipient would be a friendly stalker and I would "spill the beans". But the idea still has merit. The award is a pat on the back. For the recipient, what better place to come from than someone that you have worked with. Interested? Wikipedia:WikiProject Editor Retention/Editor of the Week/Nominations
```Buster Seven Talk 16:04, 5 February 2013 (UTC)
- I hope Editor AL will do us the honor of allowing his friend, Giant Snowman, to acknowledge his efforts to improve the encyclopedia. His football related edits have been dutiful and trouble-free. Not an easy task in todays Wikipedia. ```Buster Seven Talk 16:17, 5 February 2013 (UTC)
- Two reasons come to mind for not receiving the award: 1 - even though i said i would not, i continue to feed the trolls (have "more" ZERO tolerance for vandalism now that i ever had) albeit less; 2 - my summaries are VERY FAR from being WP-adequate. Less importantly than the first two, i continue to NOT use the articles' talkpage for consensus, a bit of a "free spirit" which can be both good and bad here i think...
However, if two users who know much more about the site and its mannerisms than me (including an admin) feel i do deserve it, i will accept it, humbly. Thanks again for the kind words, both of you (i have sent this very message to Buster first)! --AL (talk) 19:33, 5 February 2013 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) I'd award it to you in a heartbeat. (I'm an admin, but I don't know if that really means anything!) I don't think I've ever interacted with you directly, but I see you around Drmies's talk page a bit, and I'm not sure what it is, but your posts always manage to make me smile. You just always seem so...cheerful! "Jolly", maybe, or "exuberant", I dunno. My mental image of you is basically a Portuguese Brian Blessed, and I mean that in the absolute best of all possible ways. Whenever I read your posts, I always picture someone raising his arms and gaily booming "VASCOOOOO!" with a huge smile on his face. I don't know if that makes sense, but that's more than enough for me. Writ Keeper ⚇♔ 19:55, 5 February 2013 (UTC)
- Glad to make you smile my wiki-friend, me who hardly ever does so! --AL (talk) 20:49, 5 February 2013 (UTC)
- I love VASCO. He exemplifies the kind of editor we need: one who learns, who can accept critique in a good-natured way, and one who (I think) really believes in the project. Drmies (talk) 20:56, 5 February 2013 (UTC)
- See Vasco, plenty of WikiLove for you here! GiantSnowman 20:57, 5 February 2013 (UTC)
- Unless one of you chooses to nominate Editor Learning on your own, I would like to offer a plan. Once Snowman provides his input, here, I can create a composite of your comments and nominate him with credit to the 3 of you (more if they show up. or, one of you can write-up a nom and place it at Wikipedia:WikiProject Editor Retention/Editor of the Week/Nominations. No rush, Let me know. ```Buster Seven Talk 22:07, 5 February 2013 (UTC)
I'd like to make a suggestion with regards to this afd. Stop engaging. No matter how well reasoned your arguments (or mine or anyoneelse's for that matter) are Nickst will categorically reject them, and any decent admin will reckognise his/her comments for what they are. On the other hand, the large amount of text generated by engaging him/her is likely to detract other editors from joining the discussion, which will result relisting after relisting without anything actually getting done. Your call of course, but I figure I'd offer my two cents worth. Cheers. Sir Sputnik (talk) 14:36, 5 February 2013 (UTC)
Trouble?
In a case similar to what we had in João Carlos Pereira, in which a relative/acquaintance writes an article (i cannot remember the technicality name right now), something might be afoot in Henrique Calisto (just look at the name of the editor in the history, his son or brother for sure!).
Stuff composed so nothing remotely negative is written about the subject (relegations, etc), very poor English, all sorts of things added to honours, the lot. Suggestions? Thanks again.
P.S. I may or may not deserve/receive the award you and Buster have been discussing today, but what i really don't want is to get harrassed/insulted for doing "my job" (i imagine Mr. Tiago Calisto's reaction when he sees his work has been undone), have had my share already in 2013 mate. --AL (talk) 19:55, 5 February 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, I noticed that. I wouldn't blank my page but that's his choice. I'm sure the above changes were done in good faith and took up a bit of time, however removing references and introducing trivial information is not acceptable. The attendance statistics are mostly included in the links but they're not directly cited and don't make it any less trivial. I haven't seen any other standard season article include them either. I have kept a low profile I guess. I've been keeping certain articles updated and done significant expansions on some BLPs when the mood has taken me. I'd like to do more and have goals I want to achieve but they're a long way off. Sad day
After reverting/composing a user regarding Jorge Jesus, then telling him about overdetail (you can compare both versions AFTER and BEFORE i "stepped in"), also pointing out that that storyline would be much better in the team (S.L. Benfica)'s individual season articles, i was called a...WIKIPEDIA POLICE!
Upon the other's request, i since relocated that stuff from Jesus' individual article to said season articles, stating in summaries that the user wrote them (i don't want undue credit), and not altering one single word. If you feel, after comparing both versions of Mr.Jesus' article, his is better than mine (his, other than the overdetail, his ripe with overlinking and redirects), please revert me.
But i tell you again, feeling very sad, almost teary, if not for you and probably User:Drmies i'd be as alone here as i am in my real life. Which reminds me: i am sorry for reverting you in the Javier Patiño article (the category), but i felt that they are athletes (SPORTSPEOPLE FROM MADRID) but also human beings (PEOPLE FROM MADRID). Yes i know, i know, WP:SUBCAT, but can't that be altered just like any other law?
Note: please don't contact this user about this unless you feel it strictly necessary, i don't feel he has crossed any wikilines, only been 200% unfair towards my person (i don't want the "next thing", a message titled "Wikipedia snitch"). Only tell me if you find this version (please see here http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Jorge_Jesus&diff=536693997&oldid=536611069) or the current one better, then i'll communicate that to him. Thanks for understanding.
More man (and thanks for the other reply),
can you please get in touch with this user that reverted me in this player's article? I arranged the display of the refs, then politely messaged him that we were to keep both the TITLE and the TRANS_TITLE in the foreign sources.
Result? He reverted me without one word of reply, i have done the same --AL (talk) 16:16, 7 February 2013 (UTC)
- Sorry about the rollback, was just (greatly) taken aback by his summary reversion without feedback. I have already inserted ALL refs in fields mode (web/news, url, title, publisher, date, etc). --AL (talk) 17:43, 7 February 2013 (UTC)
Hi GiantSnowman, I see that you've recently edited Ping Fu's biography and was wondering if you might be interested in helping to review a new draft for the article? I'm currently working on a complete rewrite of the article, to bring it into line with Wiki guidelines on bios and would really appreciate your feedback once it's ready. I should mention, I am working on behalf of Geomagic (the company co-founded by Ping Fu) to write this draft, but I'm fully versed in the guidelines around COI and won't make any edits directly to the article. I follow Jimbo's "bright line" policy and prefer to ask impartial volunteer editors such as yourself to review drafts and make edits if you think they're reasonable. If you're willing and able to help, please let me know and I'll be in touch when the draft is ready for your review. Thanks, 16912 Rhiannon (Talk · COI) 21:52, 8 February 2013 (UTC)
Christopher Dorner
Hey, GiantSnowman,
Do you think you could take a look at Christopher Jordan Dorner? There has been some unusual activity in the past few hours; a user has removed the template from the page notifying users that it is currently an AfD and claiming that the "issue s settled"; however, looking at the actual AfD, I see no resolution, particularly in comparison to previous AfD discussions that I have been involved in. Especially considering that I was the last person to edit the AfD discussion before the template was removed from the page.
I have restored that template to the page, but I'm not sure if I have done the wrong thing, and I am fully expecting that the user in question will remove the AfD template the moment he sees it. So I thought I should leave this message to let you know what is happening. Prisonermonkeys (talk) 06:22, 9 February 2013 (UTC)
- Right, thank you. I just wasn't sure exactly what was going on. It would appear that the user in question has somehow mistaken a few people in favour of his preferred edits to be a consensus, or has decided to try and force the issue by claiming that a resolution has been reached. What can be done?
Hi there GS, AL here,
You have your User:Hyrijesaliu, then you have your User:Aciyokrocky, your User:Ensarux, your User:Steadyfingers, ALL socks of the same person (and i think i left some). The guy does not talk to anyone, glues all words in storyline and overlinks like there's no tomorrow. He gave me time of day(s) in Luis Enrique Martínez García last year or so my friend.
Plus, he seems to have a neverending array of anon IPs. In Pierre Webó, you have a shining example of both (several IPs, starting with 77.28 or 77.29, and glued sentences). Moreover, he does not care about article improvements others make, last edit(s) of mine there i added several refs and +1 link (and, noting that another user had removed his ISTANBUL BB FOOTBALLERS category - some have the wrong custom of, when a player leaves a team, removing said category), what did he do? Copy/pasted his version again!
Given that not once have i been successful when requesting you page protection for whatever reason, but i ALWAYS respect your decision, what other options do we have? Attentively - --AL (talk) 18:24, 9 February 2013 (UTC)
Copy Paste pagemove
Hi GS. Was looking through the Asmir Begović revision history and I discovered that the earliest version wasn't mine. Having a closer look, it looks like there was a copy and paste page move from Asmir Begovic on 18 January 2009 by User:Mayumashu. Although you can see in the edit history that I made a subsequent edit the following day, I was not at that time aware of the copy and paste move policy. The original page was dated 31 August 2006 and was in fact the first page I created, so of course I would be happy if you could arrange for the two pages' histories to be merged. If you cannot fulfil this request, please could you let me know how I can go about making this request somewhere else. Thanks, C679 20:06, 9 February 2013 (UTC)
- Cheers GS, seeing the original stub alongside the article now is quite spectacular! C679 20:41, 9 February 2013 (UTC)
Hey,
Just wanted to let you know that I made an article out of Ken Reeves (meteorologist) (and made Ken Reeves a disambiguation page for the time being). I'm not sure if the material makes him notable enough, but I gave it a shot. If you wanted to look it over, if it stays, it's probably a stub or a start class, but I tried to give it a start. I have just reverted some vandalism on Ashley Chambers page and and checked up on who was doing it and who had taken action if it had happened before. That is where i saw that you had previously blocked this user, User talk:188.237.112.128, for such editing. I thought you may want to check it out again as most of their recent edits have been disruptive to say the least.Rimmer1993 (talk) 18:43, 10 February 2013 (UTC)
RfA: thank you for your support
GS, thank you for your support, counsel and advice during my RfA. It has been a bit more of an ordeal than I anticipated, with a handful of surprises both positive and negative. Assuming I survive the final 24 hours of the auto-da-fe, I hope you won't mind if I stop by your talk page from time to time with how-to questions. And if it all goes south, well, I will take your counsel and maintain perspective! I look forward to working with you in the future, either way. Well, GS, that certainly did not end as hoped, but it was certainly a "learning experience." I am now doing me best to maintain a positive outlook and perspective as you previously suggested. Cheers. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 19:23, 12 February 2013 (UTC)
Mediation
Please help me here mate, i'm in dire need of some help!
Can you please get in touch with User:Threeohsix (in plain English, it says - said - in his userbox his level is 2) so that he tells you what it is he has against me? He's the one that called me "WP Police" after our run-in in Jorge Jesus. I since told him you (an administrator) analyzed both versions and thought mine was more accurate per WP standards, that did not convince him.
Why? Because in our last exchange, found in his talkpage, he reasoned that "Só edito regularmente a uns 5 meses e já me cruzei algumas vezes contigo em edições de artigos, mas já sei para não o voltar a fazer, a tua superioridade capacidade linguistica e extremo conhecimento do que deve estar nos artigos é assustadora", meaning that "I have only been editing regularly for some five months and have come across you in some articles, but i know better not to do it again, your superior linguistic ability and utter knowledge of what belongs in an article is frightening" in English. I asked him what did that mean, no reply.
What did i find today? This (see here http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=David_Sim%C3%A3o&diff=next&oldid=535447785) and this (here http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Suk_Hyun-Jun&diff=537699054&oldid=537585287), the latter being an article in which i NEVER edited (!!), what is the meaning of this provocation? Judging from his demeanor he won't tell me, maybe he will you.
Two things are certain, if he: 1 - does not reply to you; 2 - does not reply to me and keeps taunting even though i am asking him to please tell where does he think i erred besides that run-in in Jorge Jesus's article (you don't know Portuguese but i assure you it's being done POLITELY, albeit ASSERTIVELY), i'll leave WP and this time i assure you it's for real, i'll even sell my computer just to be sure (this has to be the fourth or fifth person who has accused me of bigotry, then proceeded to utterly ignore me, and probably the second or third that takes it up a notch by adding "notes" in their subsequent summaries). I don't have friends, i'm jobless, WP is my only hobby but i'll get by...
Attentively - --AL (talk) 18:36, 11 February 2013 (UTC)
- But can you please ask him what does he need me to do in order to improve our "working status"? --AL (talk) 18:41, 11 February 2013 (UTC)
- Ah, but (lest i did not make myself clear in original message) if he does reply to me but it's something to the effect of "you crybaby whiner" instead of a constructive reply, no need to block him, i'll leave WP (i am not kidding) and he and all the others that take such offense in my work can contribute in peace. --AL (talk) 18:46, 11 February 2013 (UTC)
- My compatriot has replied in a professional manner, case closed as far as i'm concerned. --AL (talk) 20:00, 11 February 2013 (UTC)
Your having a laugh
Your having a laugh aren't up? Threatening to block me for creating an article on Lebanese football. Of course it's hard to get references, most sources don't actually come online until after the competition has finished. Wikipedia is ahead of the game yet you threaten to block me for being disruptive. Seriously, I think you need to concentrate on other users mate. Look at my history of contributions, to decide to warn a dedicated user of wikipedia, for every 10 pages i create, their is maybe one that is unreferenced- and consideraing the amount of pages i do create and reference, it is hardly a crime. Druryfire (talk) 19:40, 11 February 2013 (UTC)
- Get a life man, you would be happy to delete the article, knowing full will that the later stages of the competition will have more media releases that can be referenced. You would be happy to delete the hard work gone into the page just for i to be recreated again - an article that probably doesn't even affect you anyway - so why you even hounding it? Druryfire (talk) 19:45, 11 February 2013 (UTC)
- Attitude? I think the moment you decided to write on my talk page threatening to block me shows where the attitude came from. But other users of the page you didn't warn, so looks like you just decided to warn me and know one else. Do you just decide on a whim who you will attack? Druryfire (talk) 20:00, 11 February 2013 (UTC)
With a click of a buttom...
Hi there, Giant. Hassan Bashir, was recently recreated after being deleted through this discussion, but it appears that he now meets WP:NFOOTBALL. I was wondering if you could restore the deleted revisions, and I will check if there is anything there that can improve the current article. While we're at it, can you do me another favour of userfying Tore Hansen (User:Mentoz86/Tore Hansen): this formerly semi-professional footballer has received some coverage after he became a referee in Tippeligaen, and I want to create an article about him if I find enough coverage to meet WP:GNG. Thank you in advance. Cheers, Mentoz86 (talk) 19:49, 11 February 2013 (UTC)
- Wow, that was fast :) But now I remember the terrible state of the article when I nominated it for deletion ([6]). But thank you. Mentoz86 (talk) 19:56, 11 February 2013 (UTC)
WP:COMMONNAME
Last year (can't remember the month though), consensus was reached to move F.C. INTERNAZIONALE MILANO to the current WP name, Inter Milan. Tons of users are not having any of that, however, they write as they want, period.
Of course, only a small "portion" of the people who edit here know of the consensus and/or discussions, and my guess is that even if they were "au courant" of the said activities, they would not care still. All in all? Getting tiresome as hell, i tell ya!
Re reversal of comments.
I was the one who added back the comments that the original editor removed, then I was told that as the RFA candidate, I shouldn't be the editor do it, so I reverted back, and you reverted me. It wasn't no ill-intent there, I was just AGF reverting as it not recommended to remove comments on RFAs. I don't think it was a lack of judgement and non-controversial, but yea thanks for the reverting. Secret account 16:58, 13 February 2013 (UTC)
Heh, we both commented at each other talk page at the same exact time, yes both of you are right, it's no big deal and I apologize. I should have known better as the candidate duh! Thanks Secret account 17:01, 13 February 2013 (UTC)
About the message you sent to this user, regarding Tuni (footballer): has done the same in tons of players hailing from the Balearic Islands, removing the main category (SPANISH FOOTBALLERS) and inserting the sub-one. So it seems, does not write summaries and does not talk to anyone here.
I have reverted EVERYTHING related to football (unless some elusive ones escaped me!), but there's still many more to revert i'm afraid. Kind regards, from Portugal - --AL (talk) 00:36, 14 February 2013 (UTC)
Well, I thought it was self-explanatory; that there is insufficient notability demonstrated. Couldn't you have messaged me with the query, rather than going ahead and removing the Prod. We're left with yet another stub/non-notable footballer now. Regards. Eldumpo (talk) 11:46, 17 February 2013 (UTC)
- OK, it seems I should've added some explanation to the formal Prod box - I don't use Prod that much so am rusty with the process. However, in the edit summary I stated 'no evidence of notability'. Bits and pieces
Hi there SNOWY,
without further ado: 1 - regarding this stuff (please see here http://wiki.alquds.edu/?query=Wikipedia:KARLSRUHER), i seem to remember that another user i spoke with regarding this told me this was no WP guideline, merely the opinion of User:ArtVandelay13. However, the rest of the users don't have any saying when it comes to edit the boxes of players that play(ed) for German clubs, if we try to compress the box from 1. FC Köln to "Köln", we are reverted everytime by him and the other German users (User:Jaellee, User:Sir Sputnik, can't remember if there are more). Your views here?
2 - i have been having a bit of a run-in in some Brazilian footballers (ex. Liédson, Cléber Santana) when it comes to the PC update in box. I write "11 February 2013", he reverts to "February 11, 2013". Shouldn't we not be using the former instead of the latter?
Reliable source
Hi. According to Russian Women's Football Championship page, it is the top-division of Russian professional football. If that page is not reliable, it should be addressed there. If anyone finds the information you're looking for, the case is closed. National Women's Soccer League is not full pro either. I think we should look at whether the athlete is prefessional or not. I have reverted this invidivual a million times, thought he'd desisted by now but he has not. What does he do? "Translates" from the ES.WIKI entry into this one, in horrific language, and removes all the refs in the text whilst at it. Get in touch with the person? Impossible, another case of one million anon IPs, unfortunately.
Your reply "analysed": 1 - related to beginning of this message; 2 - the expletive was regarding the action, not the person who did it ("Fucking vandalISM" not "Fucking vandal"), still inappropriate i admit it. I have never tried to get in touch with this person because of the dynamic IP thing amongst other reasons, but the person knows (he should) i am the ONLY one undoing him, why does he not do the opposite (getting in touch with me)? Hence yes, getting real "worked up".
P.S. I have a feeling the entire ES.WIKI page is being "translated" using google or similar. --AL (talk) 15:36, 21 February 2013 (UTC)
Request - Doubt
Without further ado, here we go!
1 - User:Alexgreene87 has asked me if i can get the following templates deleted. He says they are out of date and he vows to create the correct and updated Portuguese Second Division templates. I don't know if the modus operandi is the same for templates/cats as it is for articles (i suppose it is), that's why i ask you.
They are: 2 - Is this sentence in Tiago Ilori, moreover being referenced (please see here http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Tiago_Ilori&diff=501776255&oldid=501726293, the bit "Ilori made his official debut for the Lions' first team, playing the full 90 minutes in a 3–1 league home win against U.D. Leiria, and committing an error which led to the visitors equalizing in the 20th minute." is mentioned in the PORTUGOAL.net source), non-neutral or engaging in POV like one user (politely that is) accused me of? If you say it is not, i will reinsert in the storyline.
May your break be a wonderful one, regards from Portugal --AL (talk) 15:32, 22 February 2013 (UTC)
- Have added the request here (http://wiki.alquds.edu/?query=Wikipedia_talk:Templates_for_discussion), don't know if it's the correct place, no feedback whatsoever after SEVEN hours. Also, no reply whatsoever in my last WP:FOOTY report, your input would be greatly appreciated man!
Thanks for everything as always, keep it up. --AL (talk) 19:56, 25 February 2013 (UTC)
Can I ask why you keep deleting the infobox in this article? It seems rather strange.Jdorney (talk) 20:31, 25 February 2013 (UTC)
If the edit is not problematic, surely it should not be removed, even if it is a sock/banned user? Jdorney (talk) 20:43, 25 February 2013 (UTC)
- I'm sorry I don't accept that, that's just vindictive. Besides, other users (including myself) have restored this edit. How does it improve wikipedia to block it? And why was this user locked in the first place? Jdorney (talk) 22:38, 25 February 2013 (UTC)
- If he's being abusive that's one thing, but this really strikes me as a 'wood and trees' type situation. If I'm not mistaken, this person made a pain of themselves on the 2011 Shamrock Rovers season page - mainly because they didn't understand procedures for referencing. But now he is making constructive edits and you are following him around deleting them just because it's him who made them. That is not constructive behaviour on your part. The goal here is to improve the articles, not to implement rules for the sake of it. Jdorney (talk) 09:57, 26 February 2013 (UTC)
- So ok. The user has to say they'll edit under their account name and not make personal attacks. Fine. He/she should do that. But in the meantime what is gained by reverting constructive edits just because of the user who is making them? I mean we block people for vandalism for doing that. So if i was to go around reverting your reverts (I'm not planning on doing this), you would leave that version? This is my exact problem with folowing rules to abstraction on wikipedia at the expense of content. reductio ad absurdem. In the end ( I'm not suggesting this is what's happening here) it just facilitates people gaming the system and pursuing vendettas. Jdorney (talk) 12:34, 26 February 2013 (UTC)
- Well I find that ridiculous. Again, the goal is improving the articles. Jdorney (talk) 13:23, 26 February 2013 (UTC)
- I'm afraid it's not as simple as that. Not at all. Lets be clear, whoever the user is should abide by the norms of behaviour. But if the said user makes constructive edits on articles in which I have an interest and they are removed, I will restore them. Regards, Jdorney (talk) 17:45, 26 February 2013 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for February 27
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Bobby McAlinden, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Salford (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
HELP!
Hi, I was wondering if I could make template articles for every Coventry City F.C. matches like they do for 2013 Football League Cup Final, 2012 FA Cup Final etc. Or are those single articles just for a particular event final. Thanks Skyblueshaun 22:43, 28 February 2013 (UTC)
No-Fi
Hi. First time writing on someone elses talk-page. Hopefully I don't mess it up.
I looked at the reference you put in the No-Fi article and to be honest I'm not really impressed. It mentions No-Fi in one sentence, without any explanation or context other than that Beck has graduated from Hi-Fi, to Lo-Fi to No-Fi. The quote is "Now 12 albums into his career Beck is changing it up again - he's gone no-fi".
It's also a bit funny how all the bands in the article seem to be noise/black metal or similar except for Eric's Trip which is closer to Beck. So it's not a genre, and poor production/recording techniques are already covered by Lo-Fi. I think the article still needs to prove it's worth. Swooch (talk) 14:59, 1 March 2013 (UTC)
And another one for your return!
The Luis Rubiales page keeps getting the "Google translation from ES.WIKI, refs removed" treatment, i have reverted again and, since it was done by a previously used IP from this person, took my chance and messaged him in Spanish. It will not do any good however, either i'll be ignored or insulted.
Cheers, wish you a "soft" return - --AL (talk) 21:32, 4 March 2013 (UTC)
Sorry to be a nuisance
but seeing as you're back... AL posted the below request on my talk page, but there's nothing I can do to action it, even if I were sure that what he wants is desirable:
- 2 - Adrià Carmona has had his article recreated after making La Liga debuts, but i would like for the previous storyline (before the first article was deleted that is) to be reprieved should it be possible, i mean is there a technical way to do it?
Thanks, Struway2 (talk) 13:56, 6 March 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you both, that surely took a weight off my shoulders, had much less work to do when doing my improvements. Kudos to you sirs! --AL (talk) 16:01, 6 March 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, i'd have to say "sorry to be a nuisance" also, but given you're back in active, what can you tell me about the mail i sent you and the Luis Rubiales article? The latter is getting very annoying. Attentively --AL (talk) 19:52, 6 March 2013 (UTC)
HammerkatzNYU
Why was the HammerkatzNYU article deleted? I am the director of the group and we are very much still active/ wiki-worthy. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.243.58.157 (talk) 06:43, 7 March 2013 (UTC)
History of Lille OSC
i dont know how i will add a lot of matrial for the History of Lille OSC i have another question, can u add the Fenerbahces 12/13 third kit? [7] the third one. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Yandex1 (talk • contribs) 00:50, 8 March 2013 (UTC)
- Snowy, this guy is a sock of User:Aciyokrocky (please see his history here http://wiki.alquds.edu/?query=Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Hyrijesaliu), engages in overlinking like no tomorrow, glues all sentences in storyline, removes stuff as B-clubs in box and uploads copyrighted images (as seen in Luis Enrique Martínez García (there, you will see another sock just inches below in the new edit history, User:RuyalarKizi)).
Other than in Enrique, Thomas Schaaf and Pierre Webó, this guy gave me the time of day at Mehmet Topal, sistematically reverting me with overlinking and removing refs to please his version (one example here http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Mehmet_Topal&diff=next&oldid=515712195, with another sock User:Aciyokrocky1).
Happy weekend man, you have been briefed --AL (talk) 09:47, 8 March 2013 (UTC)
Montenegrin vandal
Since you archived, i had to create another topic (shame on you!),
your conversation with and posterior block of User:Yandex1 took place before 10AM. He was blocked and did not bother to ask you why? No doubt, he will, as per his habit, create more and more socks. As long as someone has Luis Enrique Martínez García or Pierre Webó (for example) on their watchlist (as i told you before my friend, i don't have one anymore) he'll be easily caught.
- (talk page stalker) Couldn't resist - what a FANTASTIC username AL!!! oops, sorry ... carry on GS. — Ched : ? 20:31, 8 March 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks, oh kind TPS, although i have to admit there are better. And don't get me started on users with better names AND wiki-behaviour, shame on me sometimes! Cheers. --AL (talk) 21:04, 8 March 2013 (UTC)
Taiwan
Hi GS. Could you please update the Template:WikiProject Football to remove the deleted Taiwanese task force from the template. Thanks, C679 21:19, 10 March 2013 (UTC)
- Also would you know how to command a bot to strip the Category:Football in Taiwan task force articles, then delete the category and its parent? Thanks, C679 21:24, 10 March 2013 (UTC)
